Birth certificate &father name?

Hi,
Just curious. Does it vary in every state or can you just put the child's father down on the birth certificate?

    I'm not sure every state's rules, but in my state if you're not married, the father has to sign an acknowledgement of paternity for you to put his name on the birth certificate. I believe you can request a DNA test through the courts if he refuses to sign.
