  • EDD/Weeks + days: August 26th - 17w2d

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink

Baby is the size of a(n): pomegranate

Upcoming appointments: first week of April

How are you feeling? lots of SI joint pain (feels like sciatica) which has been challenging.

Raves/Rants: Rave - flew out of state just Fri-Sun to celebrate nephew's first bday and my daughter (almost 2) did really well on the flights, so that was nice! Also my bball team made it to the sweet sixteen :D

Questions: no questions, just muscling through each day.

GTKY: what’s your dream vacation - would love a repeat of our honeymoon (Maldives)
  • Loading the player...
  • @priyadoc YAY ANOTHER HOOPS FAN!!!! Who's your team? Also I need a detailed accounting of the Maldives (not so much the activities you enjoyed, but what is it like there? Total bucket list for me.)
  • EDD/Weeks + days:
     8/28 17w

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green:
    finding out hopefully soon🤞🏼

Baby is the size of a(n):
    chipmunk

    Upcoming appointments:
4/7 but hopefully I’ll get my obgyn consultation scheduled soon since everything hinges on there approval 😠

How are you feeling? Good a little achy but other than that pretty normal usually

    Raves/Rants:
Raves: I think my complete exhaustion is finally backing off a bit I can finally stay awake past 9:30

Questions: any other vbac or tolac moms in this group? This pregnancy is so different from the first I feel like it’s going the same if not better but I have so much more anxiety and fear than last time 😔

GTKY: what’s your dream vacation: hiking in the summer in Washington state I love the forests up there so much it’s like walking in a fairytale
  • @priyadoc so sorry about your SI pain that’s never fun have you been trying any stretching or maybe a chiro visit to help elevate the pain some? How awesome about your daughter though 🙌
  • @gingermama29 I’m so glad to hear she’s feeling better I’m sure this was a rough weekend for your whole family the African drumming event sound awesome I lived in Ivory Coast for a couple years when I was 7-9 years old and love to learn about all the different African cultures and traditions😊 what a great idea about a month long train ride sightseeing not sure I’d be down to live on a train that long but it definitely sounds fun hopefully your able to experience that at some point

  • @priyadoc Flying with kids is so stressful. That’s the one thing I don’t ever do by myself. Once my kids are older it wouldn’t be a big deal. Like 5 and up but with a baby and toddler, nope. People are either really nice and helpful or really rude and act like I have no right to be on a plane with all my kids. I’m glad your flight went well. Also, I highly recommend PT for your hip pain. The right exercises can really take your pain level down.

@gingermama29 The month long tour around Europe sounds like a wonderful vacation. I have always wanted to go and tour a bunch of castles. We may do that once the kids are older.

    EDD/Weeks + days: Aug 26/ 17+2

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: blue

Baby is the size of a(n): pomegranate

Upcoming appointments: I don’t even know when my next appointments are. I have my anatomy scan at the MFM in a few weeks and I am going once a month to the midwife.

How are you feeling? I get bouts of energy and then I crash and can’t keep my eyes open. No aches or pains so that’s nice.

Raves/Rants: The sun is shining and it’s so nice out. I may take the kids down a trail this afternoon. I just need to locate my best spray.

    Questions:

GTKY: what’s your dream vacation: I would like another trip to a beautiful beach with my husband. We go to hawaii almost yearly but we take our kids and it’s not relaxing but a lot of work. Being able to stroll and just be lazy on the beach without keeping kids from drowning would be amazing.
  • @gingermama29 all those countries are great! When I was 26, I did a backpacking trip for two months in Europe. Did all that besides Scotland! Would love to go. I have relatives in Netherlands, so I still would still go visit here and there.

@emeraldcity603 Hawaii is my dream! Takes longer to go to Hawaii than Europe from ny lol but I would love to go

    EDD/Weeks + days: 20+6

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: green

Baby is the size of a(n): sweet potato

Upcoming appointments: FINALLY anatomy scan on Thursday. All my sonograms are so unclear and you can’t make out what is what? Only from what they tell me smh. I’m so ready to see a real shape, hopefully

How are you feeling? I have good days and bad days. Starting to get harder to maneuver around. Felt dizzy that one day but went away. And I slept in today and still felt like I can sleep more. Baby is really draining me.

Raves/Rants: raves-NY weather is getting better. Yesterday was high 20s, but tomorrow will be high 60°F and can’t wait to walk around and take in the nice sun. Rants-I can tell I’m getting hungrier quick 😳 I don’t want to over indulge but hard to resist 😋 oh and indigestion at night time!! Wtf. I’ll have time to digest and try not to eat so much during the evening and ugh heartburn and indigestion I’m tired of burping some grossness.

    Questions: none right now

GTKY: what’s your dream vacation-Hawaii. I want the whole aloha and luau and hula dancers and pina colada in hand and palm trees! Usually I’ll head to eastern Caribbean bc it’s usually less than 4 hrs from ny. But crossing my fingers one day 🤞
  • @lmn823 It’s a quick 5 hours flight to hawaii from Alaska. Everyone from Alaska goes to hawaii a lot. When I lived in the lower 48 we didn’t go because it wasn’t as easy/convenient. We honeymooned there for 2 weeks which was my first time ever going and it was amazing. It’s a different kind of trip with 5 small kids.

    EDD/Weeks + days: 8/18    18.3 weeks

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green

Baby is the size of a(n): ballpoint pen

Upcoming appointments: Friday I have an OB appt and then anatomy scan in 2 weeks

How are you feeling? Honestly, not great. Had two weeks off of nausea and now that is kicking in again. Still super tired and getting really uncomfortable at night especially.

Raves/Rants: Rave: The sun is out!!!! I went on two walks yesterday bc I was so excited. We have two small snowstorms ahead for this week but at least I have hope spring will actually come this year.
Rant: going through some MAJOR management turn over at work. It is needed and good but woofta it’s a lot.

Questions: Anybody have free pregnancy workout things they like to use? I’ve mostly just been going on walks but thinking I should probably do more. I definitely do better with structure/guidance but haven’t found anything I love yet.

GTKY: what’s your dream vacation. New Zealand has been high on my list for several years now! Australia too but they have a lot of scary animals 😳
  • @cherrystorming I saw a video of spiders raining in Australia. It was horrifying.
  • @cherrystorming sorry your not feeling good again hopefully it passes soon I like to YouTube different pregnancy yoga or workouts there are some that have series so you can progress through them as you progress through pregnancy I’d look up harrows earth she did a pregnancy yoga series a few years back I used to be obsessed with Australia when I was a kid but the more I learned about the scarier wildlife especially the giant spiders that quickly faded lol @emeraldcity603 a video of raining spiders would give me so many nightmares 😳
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 18w5d

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: blue

Baby is the size of a(n): artichoke

    Upcoming appointments: anatomy scan 4/3

How are you feeling? Good! Major hip pain at night. Definitely need to look into those exercises @emeraldcity1214

Raves/Rants: I’ll rave about Vaseline haha. What we thought was a UTI in DS was probably just try skin related to diaper rash. The Vaseline barrier has eliminated the tears. My rant: omg my search for maternity jeans has gone on for months and it’s still not over. I went through hell to get this pair of Madewell jeans (my fourth try on a different style of jeans) and they finally arrived. Of course they don’t fit and feel so uncomfortable. I’m at a total loss at this point. I’m so angry and annoyed. I need to go to a store with lots of options in my size and try them all on. Our old navy doesn’t carry maternity, and our target doesn’t tend to carry maternity in small sizes. Jcrew and Madewell don’t carry them in stock either. I thought we had a motherhood maternity but we don’t. So I have this one pair of old navy jeans that don’t 100% suck, more like 75%. I have to wear them because I can’t wear leggings every day. Ugh.

Questions: anyone a pre-pregnancy size 0 and not very tall (5’4”) find the best maternity jeans?

GTKY: what’s your dream vacation? So I find vacation stressful. I like to travel somewhere for a significant amount of time and essentially move there :) I would like to do this all over Europe!
  • @ccmrc143 have you ever considered a Jean extender? They sell these on Amazon and then you can have a belly band cover up? Jeans are always a pain to buy at least for me but I had a lot of hand me downs
  • @lmn823 oooh ok so I have a belly band. I didn’t know you were supposed to wear one of those extenders underneath it!!!! I hate my belly band because my pants always fall off 😂😂 this is genius I will have to buy one! All the said, I don’t love the look of the belly band especially as the weather is getting warmer. And mine always hikes up or feels uncomfortable. But this combo is worth a shot!

@ccmrc143 I had severe hip pain with one of my pregnancies and I got to the point I couldn’t walk. I went to the chiropractor and that was always just a temporary 24 hour fix. I needed to go multiple times a week. The PT gave me exercises that took my pain from an 8 to a 2 within seconds of doing the exercises. I did them 3 times a day and that kept me mobile and almost pain free. I was super attached to my heating pad too. 😆 I even took it to the hospital to labor with and hid it from the nurses because I was scared they wouldn’t let me use it. Turns out they were fine with it. I probably would have cried had they taken it away from me because it was kinda a comfort item at that point.
  • @emeraldcity603 ugh I had a similar chiropractor experience. I went in desperate at around 36w when my sciatic nerve pain was so severe that I could no longer safely drive or even walk the dog without someone to make sure my leg didn’t give out. Anyway they adjusted me for $150 and then said I needed to come back 3x/week until delivery and I said no freaking way. The adjustment didn’t help anyway. The only thing that helped was giving birth and getting DS off my nerve (literally). Glad you got what you needed from PT, and that’s awesome about the heating pad!  I’m going to look up some hip opener exercises and try them out. More pillows between my legs at night can also do the trick.

@priyadoc since you’re having sciatica so early on I would recommend PT or prenatal massage for sure.
  • @ccmrc143 that’s awesome that it wasn’t a uti 🙌 it’s unfortunate how hard it is to find maternity clothes we used to have a few stores within 100 miles of us and slowly they have all closed down one by one now the only one we have is about a 2hr drive one way and I’m definitely not doing that I’m hoping this is our last cold snap and I can just make do with the maternity shorts I already have I hope your able to find some decent pants soon or at least a solution like the pants extender that lmn823 recommend
  • EDD/Weeks + days: August 27th 2023, 17weeks 2 days

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out (ntip results are with sister in law for a gender reveal)

Baby is the size of a(n): pomegranate

    Upcoming appointments: midwives on Wednesday.

How are you feeling? Tired, hip pain, but otherwise okay

Raves/Rants: I am tired of hiding my pregnancy at work, but get why it’s needed at least a few more weeks (hoping to tell them at 20 weeks)

    Questions: not at the moment

GTKY: what’s your dream vacation: somewhere warm, where I don’t have to do anything, no cleaning, cooking, serving.
  • @estadt I’m surprise you have been able to continue hiding your pregnancy. I haven’t been able to keep it a secret for awhile now. It is ridiculously obvious. I look pretty huge.
  • @estadt @emeraldcity603 I’m hiding it at work because I’m remote haha but for sure if I were in person I would’ve had to start telling people at least a month ago, probably two months. I do wear a lot of baggy sweaters so maybe i could’ve pushed it to 15w. Tomorrow I’ll be 19w and look about 25 weeks in my opinion 🤷‍♀️

@emeraldcity603 @ccmrc143 Thankfully I am fairly tall and wearing more fitted clothes you can definitely tell but slightly baggy tops are my best friend
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 8/16, 18+6

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out, hopefully finding out on Friday at the anatomy scan!

Baby is the size of a(n): artichoke

Upcoming appointments: 20 week scan on Friday

How are you feeling? I’ve been better lately! I find I get wiped super quickly. Still some nausea when I wake up in the morning but it’s not bad!

Raves/Rants: I’ve been struggling on not going from 0 to 100 and trying to slowly get back in the swing of things. Because of that I 100% have been overdoing it. Rant because I’m mad at myself for not making sure I relax too.

    Questions:

GTKY: what’s your dream vacation? I think my dream vacation would be to get an RV and travel around the US. While a tropical get away would be fun, I’m a sucker for road trips and camping!
  • @justyouraveragemama that would be cool I’d love the tour as many national parks as possible
I understand your struggle or at least sympathize with not relaxing personally I can be too lax with certain things but my MIL I think is incapable of sitting down if anything is dirty or out of place I feel I’ve been running after her since she moved in trying to get her to sit down and stop moving my stuff around 🤦‍♀️
  • @ki1244 Michigan State Spartans!!!  I was a total basketcase watching Sunday's game, my husband was concerned I was stressing the fetus out...I'm like -  it's called indoctrination :)

@AlexisJoy92 Thanks! Have an upcoming PT appointment but would definitely never consider seeing a chiropractor. That's all I'll say about that....

@emeraldcity603 @ccmrc143 Thank you! I moved my PT appointment up to next week (their soonest available) - had to cancel 2 patients to make it work, but at this point I don't have any other options!!
  • @justyouraveragemama I’m glad your nausea is going away. Hopefully you will get more and more energy as the weeks pass.

@priyadoc I’m glad you’re getting in to see a PT. Make sure you ask for exercises and not a support belt. Some PT just want to slap a support belt on you and that is not really a solution.

@priyadoc we LOVE Tom Izzo over here. When I was pregnant with my daughter, my husband was coaching at Nebraska, and for whatever reason every time we played Michigan State, she would go absolutely bonkers rolling and kicking. Then during the tournament, I had a game on and they cut to an Izzo interview and she went nuts again...and then through their next game she was the most active she had been to that point. I don't know if there was some sort of frequency to his voice or what but she was clearly a little Spartan fan from before birth. I don't mind, Izzo is a good dude (my husband has nothing but good things to say about him, and he still works with Big Ten teams in his job now so still is in touch with his staff) and it's fun to watch them. So we'll be cheering with you!
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 19+6 today which I only know because tomorrow is our 20-week ultrasound

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: pink

Baby is the size of a(n): halfway-gestated baby. I don't believe the fruit/veggie nonsense anymore.

Upcoming appointments: 20-week scan and appointment tomorrow

How are you feeling? Large. Otherwise totally normal.

Raves/Rants: insurance is pissing me off. I need to call and talk to someone today (probably in a call center in Mumbai) but they're billing me for office visits (which are just the normal scheduled ones that are allegedly 100% covered) and another couple hundred dollars for blood work which, again, the guy I talked to a few weeks ago (when straightening out some other stuff for my daughter) said was covered. This whole structure is broken. Like why do I need to keep fighting them on this? What the hell are we paying these huge premiums for, and what actually is covered? They also are still not covering the ambulance ride my daughter required back in October even though I've been told twice now BY THEIR REPRESENTATIVES (I took notes thankfully) that it should be. We had a different insurance when my daughter was born and I loved it. It was so straightforward. But now it's me digging in to find what codes they used and why that particular one isn't covered and THIS IS NUTS.

    Questions: None right now

    GTKY: what’s your dream vacation
This is so hard. On one hand I obviously love Disney and would love to do allllll the things at either World or Land, or get my husband to go along with a cruise. But I'd also love to do a cooking tour around Italy or France, visit the Cotswolds, or go to the Middle East/Holy Land/old Roman empire (sans the violence there -- my dad is 100% Lebanese so I'd love to visit the mountains where my great grandparents all came to the US from in the 1910s). Or even just hit a bunch of baseball stadiums and see a week of minor league games (I've done that with both my husband and my dad and it's just so nostalgic), or do a historical trip along the East coast, or go stay at a B&B in Vermont and bake and get fresh maple syrup.
  • @ki1244 That sounds like an insurance nightmare. I’m sorry you’re dealing with all that.
  • @ki1244 Ahhh it just warms my heart to hear sweet things about Tom Izzo!! Thank you so much for sharing <3
So sorry you're having trouble with insurance, that sounds absolutely ridiculous. Customer service at the insurance companies can unfortunately really make or break the patient experience.

  • EDD/Weeks + days: 20+3

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): banana

Upcoming appointments: anatomy scan next week

How are you feeling? I’ve started having morning sickness again just before week 19 but at least it only once every couple days not every day.

Raves/Rants: baby is moving a lot, which is nice, no longer constantly wondering if he/she is still in there. DH and I cannot agree on names to save our lives which has been frustrating. We are finding out the gender now largely to cut our list in half. The closest we have come to agreeing is he has a boy name he loves that I don’t hate. We have zero girl names the other doesn’t despise.

    Questions: none

GTKY: what’s your dream vacation. I was supposed to go to Peru in 2020, this didn’t happen for obvious reasons but I’d love to get back to South America. I’ve been to Ecuador and the Galapagos and that was wonderful. I’d also like to go back to Greece and go rock climbing there
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 9/1 16+6

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: blue

Baby is the size of a(n): avocado

Upcoming appointments: yesterday I was accepted by a new OB so I have an appointment with her in 1 month, but have a final appointment next week with my current OB.

How are you feeling? Sick. My son shared his cold with me and I’ve been struggling all week.

Raves/Rants: I’m so excited about my new OB. She is highly recommended by a friend who delivered her twins with her and I just hope I get better care with her. My current office has just dropped the ball on everything and it’s been so frustrating.

    Questions: n/a

    GTKY: what’s your dream vacation
I guess I don’t have a specific “dream vacation.” I just want to travel the world and see everything I can. I’ve been trying to make one big trip yearly since finishing grad school and that’s been fun but I imagine with this babe coming I’ll need to scale that back a bit.
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 21+1

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green

Baby is the size of a(n): Weasel

Upcoming appointments: 4/6 another appt w/ MFM to get the pics they couldn’t get at my anatomy scan.

How are you feeling? Pretty good, but I really feel it flying and traveling.

Raves/Rants: I don’t know if I should consider this a rave, but we have a lot of interest in buying our home right now. We sold and then ended up in an apt with my daughter while she was a newborn and it was incredibly stressful. We bought a house just to get out and have been doing our best to renovate it to hopefully fall more in love with it. We don’t and I don’t think I realized how much stress it was causing us. I’m terrified to go through this process *again* while I’m pregnant lol but I’m relieved at the thought of ending up in a home we love or like better.

Rant: I’ve been gone all week on work travel. My body feels it and I’m tired and I miss my baby.

    Questions:

GTKY: what’s your dream vacation: We both love Kauai. It was the one trip we knew we wanted to take again before kids. Otherwise, I’d just like to explore Europe more. A month long journey sounds amazon.
  • @lizdiane456 I’m sorry you’re feeling sick again. I hope that is just a short phase.

@benten24 We have a new cold too. I’m unaffected as of now but 2 of the kids are snotty.

@msjaay We are hoping to build next. We bought the summer of 2020 and our house is beautiful and has an amazing view of the mountains but the layout is not ideal for me. I wish the basement was carpeted (mainly to add some warmth. It’s so cold all the time) and had a more open floor plan. The stairs go up through the center of the house and is completely open from the top floor to the basement. So noise travels everywhere. Anyways, my point is, I love our house but there are so many things I would change. Hopefully y’all can find a house you love and can get settled sooner rather than later.
  • @emeraldcity603 @msjaay I’m feeling it on the house troubles too. We bought summer 2021 and thought this was our dream house. It’s charming, has a gorgeous front porch, a huge front and back yard perfect for kids. Plus our mortgage is only 15% of our income which is amazing. But it’s small. Noise travels everywhere. Basement was unfinished and DH has been working to finish it for months. My hope is that when it’s done and we have like 400 more square feet of living space it will feel like a fresh start. Last night I had a panic attack about all the things I want to do to make the house more comfortable / good for us. I think it was just a combo of feeling sick and feeling overtired but it was scary and I’m embarrassed how overwhelmed I can get over such superficial things.
  • @tumbleweed-1 I feel like my sense of smell has calmed down some. I’m glad too because it was pretty bad. I hope it settles down for you at some point because that’s just awful.
