Evening Primrose Oil vs. Borage Oil

Did anyone take both evening primrose and borage oil? Or were they recommended to just take one of them? If so, which one?

I have done research and my doctor is very western medicine, so he is not much help when it comes to this. But I have both, I just cannot find data about mixing them or if one is stronger/ better than the other. Please let me know your thoughts and experiences!

Re: Evening Primrose Oil vs. Borage Oil

  • Baby will come when baby is ready. I wouldn’t do anything that is not recommended by your provider, especially with any limited data available. If your provider green lights either of these, great. From my limited knowledge, however, there’s not really any data backing anything up to help along labor except maybe (lots) of unprotected sex with your partner ejaculating in you.

  • Yeah sex hurts too bad. So that won’t be happening! Haha my doctor isn’t against it, he just doesn’t believe that it works. And that was the discussion. So I am asking for moms that have taken it for their advice and what they were guided to do from midwives or doulas that have more experience with the stuff.
  • Borage oil has the most of the omega fatty acid 6 - gla compared to evening primrose oil. If you are still 4 weeks from your due date use evening primrose. If you are 38+ weeks borage oil would be good to try.
