Hey all,
This is a bit long but I'm hoping to get some reassurance and hear some positive stories OR even get some advice.
About me- my cycles have always been all over the place but on average between 33-35 days, and we have been TTC since mid-2021.
In September 2021, I had a complete molar pregnancy. I got the all clear in June 2022 and we immediately started trying again. Unfortunately, I had a chemical in the second last week of October 2022.
Got my period 5th December (47-day cycle- which I guess is normal after a miscarriage) and then I got it again on Christmas Day (Merry Christmas to me!), which obviously caught me off guard as this was only a 20-day cycle, and it was my shortest cycle yet!
Anyways, I track my cycles using 3 different apps, so I knew I was going to be ovulating around the 8-10 January. 7 January was neg, but 8 January was peak- we did the deed on 6 January and 8 January. Unfortunately, with the Clearblue OPK when its peak, it remains on the screen for 48 hours and I was unable to test myself again on the 9 January- so I assume I ovulated on the 9 January as when I tested myself on the 10th, it was negative.
Fast forward to 25 January, I decided to take a pregnancy test because I was feeling quite nauseous at work the day before and the symptoms reminded me of when I was briefly pregnant in 2021 and what do you know, I got the BFP!
Now, because I'm high-risk, I went to see my doctor the following week (31 January) for bloods and an early US. Went for a US that day and they could only see the gestational sac ("GS") which the sonographer and my doctor said it is quite normal for that age.
I went for a follow up US on Thursday, 9 February, and we saw the GS (measuring 10mm) and yolk sac which we never got to see in 2021, so that's a win but no heartbeat, which is what we were hoping for.
I went for my follow up scan yesterday (Thursday, 16 February) and my GS had increased by 3mm in 8 days but there were still no fetal pole nor heartbeat.
So, this is where I need your help, input and stories because it isn't making sense to me. The sonographer advised that my gestational age is measuring just under 6 weeks BUT if I were on a 35-day cycle, I would have been 6w4d yesterday. I have been googling like crazy and for my GS to be measuring 13mm means my gestational age was 5w6d yesterday, which I guess lines up with when we did the deed on 6 January?
I'd also just like to add that besides that week when I first found out I was pregnant, all of my symptoms have subsided, I feel absolutely nothing now, which I know is normal, but this happened to me back in 2021 and that's when I had the molar.
Long shot but has anyone out there experienced something similar to this before?
Apologies for this lengthy post but any advice/assistance would be greatly appreciated. We still have hopes but due to my history, we obviously have our guards up.
Thank you xx
Re: Gestational Age - Conception Date?
This last ultrasound we were shocked to find out we were further along than we had originally thought, we were at 8 weeks instead of 7. So try to just wait it out. It might be good news, might be sad news, but really sometimes with those early ultrasounds it's just too early to tell for sure.
I go for a follow-up US this Thursday, so I guess I'll find if my pregnancy is viable then. All the best for your pregnancy xx
I definitely miscarried over the weekend, I caught my YS, GS and placenta😩
We don’t have any children yet, we just can’t make it past 7 weeks 🫠 however, with this pregnancy we actually got to see the yolk sac and the embryo. So, we do get closer and closer each time.
Once I recover this time around, we will get a referral for IVF.
all the best for your pregnancy xx
