Ovulation Type Pain

I’m currently just over 5w and I’ve been experiencing on and off ovulation type sharp pains and aches. Last week, I thought my ovary was going to burst when I sneezed lol it was so painful for a few seconds!

The pain is sometimes on my left, and then other times on my right. Mostly on my right. Some days it’s not there, while others I can locate the pain with my fingers and it’s just an achy feeling when I press on it.

Anybody else?? Is this normal??

Re: Ovulation Type Pain

  • I'm around 7 weeks now, but around the 5 week mark I was feeling the same way. And sneezing and coughing had me doubled over. Luckily it has now eased away. I feel it a little but now and then, but that could also be my meds causing it. I hope it eases up for you.

  • I’m glad I’m not the only one out here lol I’m okay with it, it’s a small price to pay.  Have you had an ultrasound yet and/or mentioned it to your doctor yet?
Im also on meds, since this is an IVF baby.  Estrogen and progesterone injections.
  • I haven't had my ultrasound just yet. It's actually coming up in a week. I went to the emergency room when it started because I was concerned and couldn't get in to see my doctor. They did a full work up and everything was fine. I'm on metformin on top of my prenatals. Sometimes my metformin messes with my stomach causing discomfort. And IVF was actually our next step I had my appointment set and everything, and found out I was pregnant 3 weeks before the appointment.
  • That’s such an amazing story, I’m so happy for you! That happened to a friend of mine as well. So funny how life works out.
I’m glad you went to go get it checked out and they reassured you everything was fine. I was thinking maybe I have a cyst, but then thought that would be kinda odd, for the pain to be switching from one side to another… same if it was ectopic. It’s not getting any worse, and it doesn’t stick around all day, so I guess I shouldn’t worry too much.
  • That sounds like round ligament pain! As they stretch it hurts!

  • My doctor said it was probably just round ligament pain since I had no bleeding or other symptoms. She had me go for and ultrasound, and my little bean sprout was doing just fine.
  • And how are you? Has it gone away? Were you able to see your doctor?
  • Fantastic to hear! I’ve still experienced it every so often, but I had my first ultrasound yesterday and everything is clear! No cysts, no fibroids, no reason at all that they could see for the pain.
Best of all, our little peanut seems completely unaffected by it all. That’s all I wanted to know lol
