Amniocentesis for CF

Hello, this is my first post. Yesterday we had the anatomy scan, baby boy is measuring right on target for GA. Our doctor said he noticed some calcification in the bowels and he said this wasn’t a huge concern since many babies are born healthy. However, this does pose a concern for cystic fibrosis. He is referring me to a specialist to do an amniocentesis. 

I guess I’m just looking for comfort in knowing that this test has helped others. I’m trying not to stress about it since it is out of my control.

    I do not have experience with this personally. All I can offer is a virtual hug and hope things go alright for you. Please give an update, if you want to?

    I had my specialist appointment earlier this week. They did an in-depth ultrasound. Placenta, amniotic fluid, umbilical cord, and uterus all look healthy. Baby is measuring spot on. Results of the anatomy in regards to the bowels came back as nothing found. They believe what was seen at the OB office was “within normal pregnancy range” and didn’t indicate the need for an amniocentesis. There was discussions with the geneticist about other tests but at this point my partner and I have decided to hold off. We may continue that path if
    we decide to have a second. ♥️
