Re: Monday Bitch Fest 2/20

  • My parents already yelled at me this week how I “better not get pregnant!”
I’m 37. I have a MBA. We own a house, two cars that can fit three kids, my husband earns enough to support us, and if I did decide to keep working I have 16 weeks maternity leave AND short and long term disability benefits. We are solidly prepared to have as many children as we choose.
I get it. My first pregnancy I nearly died, I was super sick and had a lot of complications- so they worry,  but I’ve got a great doctor who kept me safe with my second pregnancy and delivery, and a solid plan.
It just makes me sad I know they won’t be happy about this baby.

  • @charmedlifex3 oh that is so awful! That seems like such a heavy feeling to have to carry from such a thoughtless comment. I hope they can make space for some happiness about the baby 💛
  • I’m terrified to tell my Mom too… and I’m 39. After 5 years of trying and so many losses I want to scream it from the rooftops but hesitate.

Why we care so much what someone else who won’t raise the child thinks, baffles me. Hopefully once you have this new chubby drool monster, they will meet him/her and see the love immediately. It’s entirely possible they are just scared of losing you and don’t think another grandchild is worth that risk (maybe?). Keep your head up, at the end of the day this moment is about your nucleus. That means your husband and 1st born. Those are who matter the most and don’t let anyone darken this amazing moment in time for you.

    Xoxo-Rebecca
