I'm so relieved Rant: DD is coming down with the same cold I have. MIL is watching her today while DH and I WFH and keeps glaring at us every time she coughs or sneezes. Uh, what do you want us to do? It's not like we intentionally got her sick. Rant part 2: My mom broke her kneecap last week and is having surgery on it this morning. These past 12 months have been rough on her health and this is just the latest thing. Questions: nope GTKY: What is the farthest place you've traveled? Last year DH and I went to the big island of Hawaii. I'd go back in a heartbeat but I'm not sure if we ever will. It's far, it's expensive, and there are so many other places I want to visit in my lifetime. (We only went to Hawaii because DH's best friend was getting married there. Otherwise it's like pulling teeth to get him to agree to a weekend road trip )

Team blue/pink/green: blue Upcoming Appointments: gestational diabetes class Wed, regular appt next week How are you feeling?: Meh. I’ve been having bouts of lightheadedness. My doctor told me to drink more water (I already easily drink a gallon+ a day so this didn’t feel like great advice) but that was before I got my GD diagnosis so I’m wondering if blood sugar has something to do with it. Rants/Raves: Not loving having to watch what I eat, and the limbo period between being told I have GD and getting any actual education about what to do about it has been annoying. I like to have all of the information! Questions: none GTKY: What is the farthest place you've traveled? I’d have to look at a map to be sure, but I think Prague. If not, Berlin would probably be it! We had a trip to the Netherlands and Belgium planned for 2020, but that didn’t happen and we’ve done mostly domestic travel the last couple of years instead. Now who knows when we’ll get back to Europe with a small human in tow!

MH and I just few to Hawaii (Maui) for a work incentive trip in August which was amazing, and we're planning to go to Dublin this August for the same work incentive trip!
Upcoming Appointments: Friday. But I think I need to reschedule.
How are you feeling?: Not great. A lot of personal stress going on so trying to take care of myself.
Rants/Raves: I failed the one hour by one point. Idk how I'm going to be able to fit the three hour in my schedule the next few weeks. Which is why I probably need to reschedule my Friday appointment.
Questions:
GTKY: What is the farthest place you've traveled? India SIL's husband is Indian so they did an Indian wedding there in 2017. We then went to Ireland after that. When I was 20 weeks or so with DS1 we did a Europe trip Paris, Switzerland, Germany then Amsterdam.

Getting the annoying bedtime heartburn if I eat too late though, so that's fun.
Rants/Raves: rave... Just finishing up a week long vacation in Hawaii... Was so nice to be able to get away one last time before we become a family of 4 and have to drag two kiddos around. Questions: NATM GTKY: What is the farthest place you've traveled? Ummm.. it'd either be Brazil or Greece, not sure which one is actually further. We love travelling and pre kids I did a fair number of longer trips to Europe.
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM EDD / Weeks + Days: 27w3d Baby is the size of a: boop Team blue/pink/green: pink Upcoming Appointments: in March How are you feeling?: This weekend I patched a hole in the wall of my house (where the doorbell was installed), weeded, and cleaned algae off half of my porch by hand with a scrubber. 😅 So a little sore. Trying to get heavy-lifting type stuff done before third tri really sets in. Rants/Raves: The algae improvement is subtle so I’m not sure it’s worth all the effort I’m putting in. 🫠 But I’m probably going to do the other half of the porch next week anyway. Questions: natm GTKY: What is the farthest place you've traveled? Xinjiang Provence, China, in 2004, one of those programs where you can get hired as an English teacher because you’re monolingual in the language being taught regardless of your teaching abilities. 😬 I don’t know how to summarize this quickly—the world is very different now. It was pre-smart phones. My “teaching partner” (person who actually knew how to teach) was Uighur and she had a baby the next year—I have a photo of the baby that was physically printed out from my family’s shared AOL email account that I used to correspond with her briefly after leaving—now that baby would be 18! I worry her family was one to target for internment, but we lost touch so long ago and even if I could find her, my reaching out would possibly cause harm. Oh, SARS was happening that year, although we didn’t travel to anywhere that was having an active outbreak—lol I think differently about that decision now—but I have photos of our sight-seeing with minimal people in front of places that would normally be very busy.

GTKY: What is the farthest place you've traveled? Bahamas with my husband. But my husband has traveled to many places as a child and in the Navy. Furthest before was across the US and Canada.
@hestia-is-wearie what island have you been to? We just did Oahu, which was a nice break for sure. It was my 4th trip there but hubby and kiddos first time, so we had lots of fun hitting the beach and the tourist traps like the dole plantation and diamond head. I actually managed to drag my pregnant butt up the crater.. haha. The weather was wetter than I'm used to, but we stayed right on the beach, so took advantage of the sunny times and kiddo loved the sand and waves. We did a boat tour too and got pretty close to some turtles, a pod of dolphins and fish and there were some Humpback whales nearby too. Overall it was an awesome trip for sure, but we'll probably wait to go back till the kids are old enough to do things like snorkeling.
Hi All, sorry for being so late to the party! My name is Rachel and I am excited to be a part of the group!
FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM EDD / Weeks + Days: May 19 27w6d Baby is the size of a: Lettuce? She's actually measuring bigger than 27 weeks though! Team blue/pink/green: pink! Upcoming Appointments: 3 hour glucose test tomorrow (hopefully). I start prenatal classes on Monday and see my doctor on March 6. How are you feeling?: Pretty good! I'm getting bigger and bigger though, so sleep is harder and I have some back pain. Rants/Raves: For some reason I haven't struggled much with heartburn! I was expecting it, as I've had it in the past! I'm also ready for the Spring to be here. I live in Spain and we don't have central heating. The winter just isn't fun! Questions: GTKY: What is the farthest place you've traveled? Technically Egypt, where my husband is from. I live in Spain though so it's not all that far away. It is pretty far from the States though, which is where I'm from. I've had the privilege to travel all over Europe and Morocco many times. Once you get over to Europe it can be pretty cheap to travel around!
@caroduke We only went to the big island and stayed in Kailua-Kona. We mostly stayed in town but also went to Pu'uhonua O Honaunau (the most beautiful place I've ever seen) and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Kilauea was quietly erupting that day, so our tour group got to go back at night and watch the lava flow through binoculars. Amazing. I'm jealous you've been to Hawaii four times! Do you live on the west coast? Traveling from Cleveland to Hawaii is an all-day endeavor, so even though I'd love to go back, I'd want the kids to be at least elementary school age. @seahawkinspain Welcome! How long have you lived in Spain? I love how Europe is close enough to reasonably travel to places like Egypt and Morocco. What did you see in those countries?
@seahawkinspain I’ve heard visiting places in Europe (from Europe) is so easy and cheap. I’m so jealous! A friend in college studied abroad one semester in Germany, and he got some sort of student train pass for cheap and went somewhere new pretty much every weekend. He got to see SO much of Europe that way.
What took you to Spain?
@casshax New Zealand is definitely on my bucket list now! My parents took a huge multi-week trip to NZ and Australia when they retired and they raved about it for weeks. What did you love so much about it?
@courtney701 It is so easy and cheap! Flying is the best option for me, as I live in the south of Spain. I've flown to Rome for probably about €30 before! If you think about how big the States is, all of Europe is almost comparable. My job took me here! I work at a Christian non-profit. I've been here for 10 years now and was single for 7 of those before starting to date my husband, then we got married in the middle of Covid in 2020!
My dream destination is also New Zealand! I've always wanted to go!
@hestia-is-wearie Thank you! I have been here for 10 years. Yes, Europe is really easy to travel! I am spoiled! When we went to Egypt, it was really to meet my husband's family because we got married in the middle of Covid and none of our families could come! We mostly stayed in his hometown and ate a lot of food, haha. But we did get to see the pyramids! I'm excited to go back soon because there is so much history to see there, as well as some really nice and cheap resorts on the red sea!
In Morocco I've had the privilege of spending the night in the Sahara dessert in a tent after riding camels, touring the huge medina in Fez, spending time in Chefchaouen, the blue city (a must if you go to Morocco!), visiting one of the biggest mosque's in Casablanca, and learning to surf in the Atlantic ocean in Rabat! I've also visited Marrakesh, which has a large market area with street food, snake charmers, and monkey trainers. I lived in Morocco for a few months studying Arabic. It's one of my favorite places I've been. The food is probably my favorite cuisine I've ever had, the people are so welcoming, and it's so beautiful!
My friend’s husband is stationed in Germany right now and it’s so fun to follow her travels through her weekend posts. They are getting to travel ALL over Europe!
@hestia-is-wearie I used to live on the west coast, but now I'm in Alberta, which is still pretty close as it only adds 1.5hrs to the flight out to Hawaii and there are still direct flight options, which is a bonus.
@courtney701 Well, any country that has more animals (sheep) than people always gets my vote haha. I studied abroad there in college so I was there for 4 months and had time to explore both islands. I love the people there, their sense of humor (very sardonic), the variety of terrain you can explore between both islands, the beauty - it is literally Lord of the Rings beautiful. The only negative is that you feel isolated from the rest of the world and the people you love, which is nice for a while but not forever. I highly recommend a long visit to anyone who is able to take the time!
