    Questions: nothing
GTKY: What is the farthest place you've traveled? From Maryland- we took a trip to the Grand Canyon when I was in high school, and drove to California from there. Still never been out of the country- we were scheduled for a cruise when I found out I was pregnant with my son six years ago and I would have been too far along to go- but I will make it someday!
  • @hestia-is-wearie hope your mom’s surgery goes smoothly and she recovers quickly!

    Questions: NATM
GTKY: What is the farthest place you've traveled? Ummm..  it'd either be Brazil or Greece, not sure which one is actually further. We love travelling and pre kids I did a fair number of longer trips to Europe.
  • @caroduke How was Hawaii? What did you visit? Allow me to live vicariously though you as the anniversary of my trip approaches  :p

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What is the farthest place you've traveled? Bahamas with my husband. But my husband has traveled to many places as a child and in the Navy. Furthest before was across the US and Canada.
  • @hestia-is-wearie what island have you been to? We just did Oahu, which was a nice break for sure. It was my 4th trip there but hubby and kiddos first time, so we had lots of fun hitting the beach and the tourist traps like the dole plantation and diamond head. I actually managed to drag my pregnant butt up the crater.. haha. The weather was wetter than I'm used to, but we stayed right on the beach, so took advantage of the sunny times and kiddo loved the sand and waves. We did a boat tour too and got pretty close to some turtles, a pod of dolphins and fish and there were some Humpback whales nearby too. Overall it was an awesome trip for sure, but we'll probably wait to go back till the kids are old enough to do things like snorkeling.
  • @caroduke We only went to the big island and stayed in Kailua-Kona. We mostly stayed in town but also went to Pu'uhonua O Honaunau (the most beautiful place I've ever seen) and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Kilauea was quietly erupting that day, so our tour group got to go back at night and watch the lava flow through binoculars. Amazing.  <3
I'm jealous you've been to Hawaii four times! Do you live on the west coast? Traveling from Cleveland to Hawaii is an all-day endeavor, so even though I'd love to go back, I'd want the kids to be at least elementary school age.
@seahawkinspain Welcome! How long have you lived in Spain? I love how Europe is close enough to reasonably travel to places like Egypt and Morocco. What did you see in those countries?
  • @seahawkinspain I’ve heard visiting places in Europe (from Europe) is so easy and cheap. I’m so jealous! A friend in college studied abroad one semester in Germany, and he got some sort of student train pass for cheap and went somewhere new pretty much every weekend. He got to see SO much of Europe that way.

    What took you to Spain?

@casshax New Zealand is definitely on my bucket list now! My parents took a huge multi-week trip to NZ and Australia when they retired and they raved about it for weeks. What did you love so much about it?

@courtney701 It is so easy and cheap! Flying is the best option for me, as I live in the south of Spain. I've flown to Rome for probably about €30 before! If you think about how big the States is, all of Europe is almost comparable. My job took me here! I work at a Christian non-profit. I've been here for 10 years now and was single for 7 of those before starting to date my husband, then we got married in the middle of Covid in 2020!

My dream destination is also New Zealand! I've always wanted to go!
  • @hestia-is-wearie Thank you! I have been here for 10 years. Yes, Europe is really easy to travel! I am spoiled! When we went to Egypt, it was really to meet my husband's family because we got married in the middle of Covid and none of our families could come! We mostly stayed in his hometown and ate a lot of food, haha. But we did get to see the pyramids! I'm excited to go back soon because there is so much history to see there, as well as some really nice and cheap resorts on the red sea!

In Morocco I've had the privilege of spending the night in the Sahara dessert in a tent after riding camels, touring the huge medina in Fez, spending time in Chefchaouen, the blue city (a must if you go to Morocco!), visiting one of the biggest mosque's in Casablanca, and learning to surf in the Atlantic ocean in Rabat! I've also visited Marrakesh, which has a large market area with street food, snake charmers, and monkey trainers. I lived in Morocco for a few months studying Arabic. It's one of my favorite places I've been. The food is probably my favorite cuisine I've ever had, the people are so welcoming, and it's so beautiful!
  • My friend’s husband is stationed in Germany right now and it’s so fun to follow her travels through her weekend posts. They are getting to travel ALL over Europe!
  • @hestia-is-wearie I used to live on the west coast, but now I'm in Alberta, which is still pretty close as it only adds 1.5hrs to the flight out to Hawaii and there are still direct flight options, which is a bonus.
  • @courtney701 Well, any country that has more animals (sheep) than people always gets my vote haha. I studied abroad there in college so I was there for 4 months and had time to explore both islands. I love the people there, their sense of humor (very sardonic), the variety of terrain you can explore between both islands, the beauty - it is literally Lord of the Rings beautiful. The only negative is that you feel isolated from the rest of the world and the people you love, which is nice for a while but not forever. I highly recommend a long visit to anyone who is able to take the time!
