Line progression question

Positive test went from medium dark to darker and the positive line was darker than the test line. I bought a new box of test same brand but now the rest line is still dark but the control line has more color. Has anyone had this happen?

HPTs are qualitative, not quantitative. Different box = different batch of tests. The coloring is not going to be the same.

A lot can determine the darkness of your test line. The amount of dye in the test, urine dilution, brand of test. I take lots of tests in the first few weeks to see the line progression but I usually stick with a box of Amazon cheapies or the same brand of store bought cheapies. I also try to take them around the same time of day and not on back to back days. With my current pregnancy I had a test or two that looked lighter than the one before and it really stressed me out. So I stepped away from the tests. They can’t tell you if you’re miscarrying. I do believe they will alert you to a CP but once you get to a certain level of HCG it takes longer for that to go down. So try not to get too hung up on them.

It’s hard to step away from the tests after having a loss. Hopefully this baby is healthy and ends up being your rainbow.

Re: Line progression question

  • Thank you I thought well I was hoping that was the case other brands I gave “dye stealing” dark lines and I have had several losses so I watch too hard I think
  • Thank you. Yeah I get really worried and stressed out until I make it past 14 weeks. I’m 39 and this is. Definitely the last or the last try. I have a 2yr old I want so much to have a sibling to grow up with. My test lines are dark but control line isn’t as light so I thought maybe dropping hcg. I’m going to throw away what test are left at home for sure and let be what is.
  • Hcg was 11,320 yesterday gestational sac and yoke sac seen 5w exactly by ultrasound. Said should see fetal pole in 1-3 weeks. Guess depending on when the schedule me. Definitely threw all test away gone peace of mind will come later but I’m done stressing myself for nothing. Thank you
