Re: Product Spotlight: Strollers

  • I’m a little unsure what in want to do for a stroller. I still have the one we used for DD when she was little but I was considering one of those combo wagon/strollers since DD is 5 and probably a little too big for me to consider  a double stroller. At least with the wagon aspect, she could ride along if she wanted.

  • We got the Evenflo Pivot Xpand with my daughter and we'll use that again this time. It's basically a cheap UPPAbaby Vista -- same manufacturer, but not as "luxe" (and nowhere near the price). It's a single-to-double inline stroller that converts in a matter of seconds. My daughter has basically outgrown the toddler seat, but *can* still sit in it, so as long as Baby is in the car seat, both girls can ride seated in it. We also have the glider board attachment, so if my daughter wants to just ride along that way, we can.

    I love...
    -that it converts so easily
-that the car seat it comes with has an anti-rebound bar and machine washable cover
    -the HUGE storage basket
-that the handle adjusts so it's comfortable for my 6'1 husband or 5'3 me
-that it's a pretty smooth ride and easy to push

    I don't love...
-that it takes up a decent chunk of my trunk space (I drive a Mazda CX-5)
    -that it's kind of heavy
-that my daughter outgrew the carseat at 9 months, and the toddler seat at 3
-that it's definitely not a jogging stroller -- not that I ever run with it on purpose, but we got caught in a surprise rain storm once and I literally could not make it move at anything faster than a brisk walk

I also have a super old Britax B-Agile that we got used for a Disney trip and I love it, as does my daughter. But it's a single. We had another (used) Chicco Cortina (again, for a Disney trip, but then we ended up keeping it) that I ADORED until my daughter was about 2.5 and then she was sort of squished width-wise in the seat. But those pop up on FB Marketplace all the time around here for under $20 and if you need a cheap stroller that's compatible with a Chicco car seat, get one of those, it's fantastic.
  • It’s been so long that they don’t even sell the travel system I used for DS anymore😅

after a bit of research I added the evenflo pivot system to my registry because I wanted a stroller that had a bassinet option since we’ll be spending lots of time outdoors and didn’t want to have to confine baby to just the car seat in the stroller. it was hard to find exactly what I was looking for because I wanted the bassinet to also be able to fold up into a regular seat too. Back when DS was a toddler we had that type of stroller but they don’t sell it anymore. I wish I would’ve kept it though because it was a jogging stroller too.
  • I have had my eye on a wagon stroller. I really want it for hawaii but my concern is how large it still is when folded down. We have to take so much luggage so I can’t really lose any trunk space. Target sells one for $300 and DH said I can buy it but I just haven’t pulled the trigger.
  • I have a chicco whatever style stroller that fit with the key fit 30 infant car seat. My son still uses it occasionally for all day outings. I also have a very worn, used, umbrella style jogging stroller that’s been through a few children (oldest one is 17 now).

We got the chicco stroller after we’d selected a car seat without much research into strollers because I hadn’t intended to use one. Postpartum kicked my butt though and I quickly got a stroller. We no longer have the car seat. I gave all my baby things to a friend last summer. The stroller doesn’t work for newborns without the car seat, so it looks like I’m going to need a new stroller. Probably not a double, because my oldest will be 4.5 when baby is born, but who knows.
  • We got the Nuna MIXX for DS and it goes with the Nuna Pipa car seat. I liked it but here’s my weird truth: I’m obsessed with our travel stroller!! It’s the Joolz Aer and it’s so compact but so durable that we use it for everything. I haven’t used the Nuna in almost a year. That said, obviously we’re not in great shape to have our 27mo and a NB sharing a stroller. I’m a very small person and the double strollers I’ve seen even the expensive ones are just too big for me. So I kind of think we’ll baby wear as much as we can, and I also was going to try out one of those “boards” for DS to use in the Nuna when baby is in it. I should be more concerned about this than I am. Will check out wagons longer term but right now I’m kinda like we’ll just figure it out when the time comes 🤷‍♀️
  • We have an Uppababy Cruz. I love that as our main stroller for walks. I had heard the Vista was a bear as a double so I bought the Cruz knowing that I wouldn’t really use the double option. It’s been a great little stroller and we grabbed it on sale. No complaints. I use the snug insert and lay it flat for the infant stage. It basically acts as a bassinet. The upgrade they did for the V2 really makes it similar to the Vista and more affordable (especially on sale).

Our travel stroller is a Bugaboo Butterfly. Looooove. I can open it one handed, it’s super light, folds up compact and meets the carryon requirements for a flight. It’s good for smooth surfaces and for quick in and out errands and travel. It’s not my neighborhood stroller bc the wheels are small and the shocks are not great, but that’s the trade off when you want a light stroller. The canopy is great and it lays relatively flat. Basket size is decent as well.

I really love the two that I have and I don’t really see a need for a double stroller. I think I’ll get a wagon for two kids. I imagine I’ll babywear a lot at first and push my daughter in the Cruz for walks or butterfly for errands. The wagon I’m looking at also has car seat adapter clips if I want to add those as an option. I may add rider boards to the butterfly or Cruz eventually but I’ll see how the addition of the wagon does us. It should be all we need.
  • Third time mom, but I have tweens and have been slightly out of touch with baby gear for a while! We got rid of everything except our Bob, which we love and I’m glad I’ll have once we are out of the infant seat.
I’m considering a doona, so I don’t have to get another stroller. I’m thinking with older kids it would be super convenient.

  • I was just researching strollers. It’s been a while, my youngest just turned 4 last week. We have the Chico keyfit infant seats still and last time we also added the stroller but it’s a little older and bulky. I have a BOB that I’ve had since my first but would only use it for walks and an occasional run. I’ve looked at updating to the newer keyfit system but I know my husband just wants to use the old stuff to save money. I’m kind of hoping I can convince him to do the Target trade in, in April to get the upgrade. Then at least everything will still fit with the bases we have for both vehicles.
