Breast Pain

Has anyone experienced or heard of severe breast pain in only one breast? I’ve been dealing with a constant sharp/sore pain for 2 days. The pain is surrounding the nipple and mostly to the right and my breast feels firm. My OB said to call for increased pain, swelling, and fever. I’ve tried heat and ice and nothing really helps. :s

    Could it be a clogged milk duct? The symptoms sound similar to when I had a clogged duct while breastfeeding.  If so, heat (usually a hot shower or compress) and massage was the only thing that helped.

    Edited to add: I am not sure if there are any special considerations since you are pregnant.  Perhaps you can find some pregnancy safe specific advice online or with your Dr.

    I spoke to my OB office today and they diagnosed it as mastitis. They prescribed an antibiotic called dicloxacillin. Thanks for your advice!

    I am so thankful that you got an answer and hope the antibiotic helps!  Clogged ducts are no joke!
