WTF Wednesday 2/15

[pretend this is a relevant Shitts Creek gif or something]

What’s up this week?
We haven’t done a discussion like this in a while

Re: WTF Wednesday 2/15

  • Wtf to my symptoms that I thought were going away but have come back and hit me like a truck.
  • Loading the player...
  • Same starting weight. Same symptoms (or lack thereof). First one is last week, second one is with my daughter.

This is bullshit. I'm going to explode like a damn tick before I get a chance to deliver.

  • I still haven’t told everyone and I am very obviously pregnant. I don’t own flowy shirts either so hiding it has been a little tricky. I have been keeping my winter coat on when possible.

Also, I left my mom group. They kicked my baby out of the baby room because he had a runny nose. He literally always has a runny nose. The only time he doesn’t is when we have a super nasty virus that requires us to stay home for a week or more. By the time we are recovering from one virus we have already been exposed to another one and his nose starts pouring again. Anyways, I told them it won’t be possible for me to attend anymore meetings if this is the new policy. It wasn’t this strict during COVID so I’m very annoyed. I’m on leadership too. So I told them someone needed to be prepared to lead the next meeting. The director of the group originally told me we would discuss this new policy and then she just shot all discussion down and refused to discuss anything.

Anyways, so now I’m going to be attending another moms group at my church that meets weekly. Should be nice. The kids will enjoy getting out more. Plus, me and my friend plan to discuss starting a MOPS group next year. Shouldn’t be too difficult. I’m just annoyed I have been put in this situation. I have been apart of that other group since 2019.
  • @ki1244 I keep saying the same thing, I feel so big already that I’m going to be as big as a house by the time august rolls around. I didn’t show until close to 28weeks with DS.

@emeraldcity603 that is BS. Anyone with kids knows that in winter kids are always snotty. Walk into any school or daycare, so many boogers. Their loss, hopefully this new group is a better fit for your family.
  • @emeraldcity603 I’m sorry. That really sucks, having been with them for so long. I agree with justyouraveragemama, hopefully the new group is a better fit!
  • @emeraldcity603 excluding your baby for a runny nose is extreme. I’ve worked with infants in child care (since 2018 at my current school) and even throughout strict Covid policies we never exclude children for only a runny nose. They’d never be in school!

My son was born a year before Covid and even with him, he had a runny nose 80% of the time probably as a baby. Still does frequently as a preschooler. I hope your new moms group is a good fit for your family
  • your experience is making me worried about the preschool we chose for next year @emeraldcity603 because they seem to have a strict policy. They use the word “infectious discharge” but like DS has had a snotty nose for a solid 14 days at this point and he’s not sick or contagious. I’m going to clarify with them after hearing about what you went through. I am pretty cautious about illness but kids have runny noses and it doesn’t always (or most of the time) mean they should be isolated
  • @tumbleweed-1 They said it was because it had color. Honestly, his nose can run clear and thin and within the same hour get thick and yellow. Then dry up for several hours only to start pouring again the next hour. I will say, the other mom that has a lot of kids left too because she drives a good way to be there. She doesn’t want to take a chance of them arbitrarily telling her she needs to leave with one of her kids. As a result of all this, the play date and the moms night out got canceled. Which they aren’t sad about because they don’t want those anyways. Which is sad because part of making connections with other moms is spending time with them and not just once a month at our meeting. I think they are shooting themselves in the foot. If they don’t implement this runny nose policy across the board I’m going to feel singled out and then I will likely pull my kids from their activities associated with that church. I hate to do that because it will make my kids sad but I can’t keep my kids in a group that has singled my family out. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • Interestingly the clear stuff is the contagious stuff! The colour is once the infection has largely cleared out and is less contagious than the clear stuff. So joke’s on them I guess.
  • What pickle-chips said! The color turns when the immune system is shedding the dead virus and a dead virus can’t infect. But also, are they going to send a kid home for a runny nose during allergy season? Noses run for so many reasons, not just illness.
  • @pickle-chips I didn’t know that the color changes at the end of a cold. Ugh, now I feel even more mad over this. My kid was kicked out because his snot just looked gross compared to all the other more contagious kids.
