afp levels elevated...2.68

i have tested positive for AFP at week 17 the result is 102.3 ng/ml and the MoM is 2.68. we have done the genetic test and everything came normal and went for an ultrasound last week the dr. said he did not see anything should I need to be worried?

Re: afp levels elevated...2.68

  • My main goal in every pregnancy is low stress, as much as possible. Meditation really helps. Finding that calm will help in labor too.
I'd listen to doc. I believe the levels are fine from what I've read that anything 150 ng/ml and under is good to go. The MOM being higher may mean something, but it could mean nothing.
One of my best friends growing up should have been aborted if their doctor had any say. She was just fine. One side was a little longer but with therapy it was not even noticeable.
Modern medicine is a miracle, but sometimes it is not accurate. There isn't much you can do either way. At your anatamy scan they should be able to tell you more. I'll be thinking of you 🙏

  • Thank you we did a Level 2 scan and everything came as normal but the dr. was saying we shouldn't refuse to do  Amniocentesis
  • If Dr. Wants you to and you are not opposed, it may put you at ease to do it. And even if the news isn't the best it could still help with the unknown and just having that peace of mind of knowing what is coming or needs to be done, rather than waiting anxiously which is never helpful. 🙏
  • Thank you but when we went for level 2 scan i was week 20 and 2 day and dr said i was late for Amniocentesis and there is no appointment available and the AFP is slightly high
  • Darn. Is there another practice that would take you in for one?  That's definitely nerve-wracking. I'm so sorry you're going through this.
