Baby is the size of a(n): apparently a pumpkin, but I like others answers of “a baby” haha
Team blue/pink/green: 💖
Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow for a check up and Wednesday night for an induction if she doesn’t come on her own by then.
How are you feeling?: I feel completely normal, just tired earlier. Really making me think she’s not making a grand entrance anytime soon on her own.
Rants/Raves: Rant - I’m ready to be done but also don’t wanna be induced but Rave - I’ll have a baby this week and finally not be pregnant anymore 🥰
Questions: natm
GTKY: what is the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten?
My cousin had me try cheese dipped in applesauce once which I thought was absolutely weird. Then a few years later I went to visit my grandma in Spain and ate snails. They were tasty but I could not get past the texture to actually eat it 🤢
Baby is the size of a(n): almost a winter melon, but probably more like the lettuce because I consistently measure behind 1 week. She's probably just a little thing.
Team blue/pink/green:pink
Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow I take one last trip out of town to the midwife. She said if I'm still pregnant at 39 weeks, we'll just do it over the phone.
How are you feeling?: Pretty ok considering I'm super pregnant.
Rants/Raves: none really
Questions: none
GTKY: what is the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten? We live next to a trapper and often have mystery meat in our freezer. My husband once made a squirrel and "something" stew which I struggled with. Yesterday I got a message from the neighbor, "Beavers in the freezer!" I responded with 👍but really I want no part in this beaver. Nothing tops the time we ate one of our beloved pet bunny's fat children though. It did not taste right to me because I knew him since birth. We tried selling the litter but nobody wanted baby bunnies at the time and out house was getting stinky. Anyway...we don't have bunnies anymore. We got a dog instead and will never eat her children.
Upcoming Appointments: Thursday morning (39 weeks) for a membrane sweep.
How are you feeling?: I am feeling okay, though still indigested! Also, very slow 😂
Rants/Raves: Rave - it's my last week of work! I am so close to being on leave and can't really believe he's going to be here soon. Rant&Rave - I have a membrane sweep scheduled and I also have an induction scheduled for the night of his due date if he isn't here yet. I don't want the induction but I can go in and then say that I've changed my mind and have them check on baby. My MFM wanted me to have him around 39 weeks but I managed to push the induction to the due date (which is a rave) but also... I don't want one so having it scheduled is a bit of a rant, even though I can still decline it. Regardless, the older kids came at 39+6 and 39+2 so I'm hoping he's like his siblings and doesn't hang out until 40. Also, at my MW appointment last week he was *really* low and she practically was in my underwear to measure his heartbeat so I'm hoping that means he's fixing to come soon 😊 One last rant - we still haven't picked a name!
Questions: Nope
GTKY: what is the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten? I have eaten a Huhu grub (like a big bug larva) and that was weird - crunchy outside and gooey inside. I've also eaten some exotic meats like emu and kudu.
@amccurls I actually legitimately like snails! They're basically just a vehicle for butter, garlic and parsley
@seeds_of_joy Yeah, I don't know if I'd be able to face beaver either
@Paturkey I hope he comes early!! Mine were all born the 39th week (except my 38 weeker) too so I'm really thinking next week is my week. It seems that early moms usually stay early moms. Cheers to 39 week babies! 🍼🍼
Upcoming Appointments: Wednesday for BPP and growth scan, then with OB (If the ultrasound shows that I still have polyhydramnios or high amniotic fluid, we will schedule an induction for next week.)
How are you feeling?: Uncomfortable and ready. I'm having some lower back pain and cramping. I'm coughing a lot due to acid reflux. All of my organs are getting kicked and I'm done! I hope that I won't need an official induction and just go into labor after a membrane sweep. I feel like this could be the week. My mom will be here on Friday at noon to watch our first child, but I'm wondering if this baby will come sooner than that. We have backup care, but it could be stressful to piece that all together. I'm praying that the timing works well.
Rants/Raves: Rave-We are so close to finishing out our pregnancies and having our babies! I'm feeling excited about that. Rant-I'm feeling very emotional and on the verge of needing a good cry.
Questions: How do you take care of yourself postpartum that helps you maintain sanity?
GTKY: I'm drawing a blank on this one. I have eaten venison before. I like a variety of foods but I don't know that I am a very adventurous eater.
@seeds_of_joy yeah, I’m not eating a beaver either 😬 @Paturkey I hope baby comes early and you avoid induction! My last came at 40+3 so I’m not counting on this one coming by Wednesday 😩
@amccurls I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that this one decides to come early!
@lucygracelaluz2020 The key to post-partum for me is asking for help and accepting help. If someone offers to help, take it! And have a little mental list of "stuff other people can do" like dishes, or folding laundry, or bringing you a cake 😁 Anything that will give you an extra minute or two of downtime or take something off your list.
Baby is the size of a(n): Almost a jackfruit? I’m thinking more of a long, lean baby as is my norm 😂
Team blue/pink/green: Blue 💙
Upcoming Appointments: Today for a checkin and NST and Thursday for another NST
How are you feeling?: Overall, sleepy and a bit sore, but good. I’ve been having those wussy little coughs because this little guy is still crowding my lungs. I wish I could join the “this is my week” crowd, but… Last week, not dilated at all and only 20% effaced I think was my diagnosis, so we’ll see if anything has changed today. Not counting on it!!
Rants/Raves: Rave- MIL arrived yesterday to help us with the girls while we try to last minute prep and hit doctor’s appointments. Very grateful but not sure how long she’s going to have to stay to see anything happen. Both girls arrived mid-week 40, so she’s probably going to be hanging out for a bit. Rave- my husband has been getting more job interviews, so I pray we’re finally close to landing something for him. It would be so nice to have something in place before baby arrives.
Questions: Last pregnancy came to the L&D with a dramatic placental abruption. I’m really hoping placental abruption is not a repeating occurrence for me! Guess this was not a question, but more of a concern 🤷♀️
GTKY: what is the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten?
I’m pretty open to trying almost anything. One of the most smelly and disliked foods I’ve tried is the Puerto Rican preserved fish bacalao (salted, dried cod fish). I’m sure there’s something crazier that I’m not thinking of, but my baby brain is all out of ideas, lol!
Baby is the size of a(n): Romaine Lettuce or a Doc Martens boot
Team blue/pink/green: Pink
Upcoming Appointments: Wednesday
How are you feeling?: Pretty good most of the time. On top of the regular heartburn and soreness, I have been getting some cramping in my legs and feet. It usually happens at night when I am struggling to roll over or get out of bed to go to the bathroom. Thankfully it has been going away pretty quickly.
Rants/Raves: Rave - Nesting has finally kicked in. We have been getting a lot done around the house but still have plenty more.
Questions: None
GTKY: what is the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten? I had alligator when I was younger. We were visiting my family in Florida. I honestly don't really remember how it tasted but I do remember it was really chewy. I remember everyone kept saying it tastes like chicken but I don't know if that's just because it was breaded and fried like a chicken nugget. I don't know about you but I hate rubbery chicken so I ended up spitting it out.
Upcoming Appointments: Had my BPP and acupuncture appointment today. Pelvic Physical therapy on Wednesday. This Thursday will be my weekly midwife appointment and NST.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. I need to get through this week. It’s the last week I’m working before going on my “maternity leave” and can fully focus on getting personal tasks and more nesting done.
Rants/Raves:
Rant: I’ve been doing nightly breast massages and attempts to express colostrum before the baby is born but no luck in expressing anything yet. It’s recommended by my lactation consultant to collect colostrum beforehand to help mitigate any potential newborn hypoglycemia due to my gestational diabetes. So I’m a bit worried that I haven’t been unable to produce anything.
Rave: My peanut ball book just arrived and I ordered a peanut ball on Amazon today to assist with the labor and delivery. I am so excited to learn more about it and nerd out on the info. One study showed it would decrease the first stage of labor by 72 min. Also, my spectra breast pump arrived too! I need to start learning how to use it as well.
Questions: Anyone here with experience with antenatal colostrum collection that may help me troubleshoot this process? There isn’t much information that I can find out there and I’m wondering if things will get better if I get closer to the due date or I should call on my lactation consultant for better guidance.
GTKY: what is the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten? I think the word “unusual” in the context food is so relative to the culture you are brought up in. Growing up in a multicultural household, I got to eat all sorts of delicious food but considered “unusual” for western standards but totally normal for the culture it represented. I’ve eaten jellyfish, chicken feet, and all sorts of offal like tendons and tripe. I loved dinaguan as a kid which had the offal and pork’s blood. My mom and I would talk and bond as family while eating balut. When my husband and I traveled to South Africa, I ate kudu (which was delicious btw. It was like eating steak). I went to Louisiana and tried alligator. I’ve eat snails, frog legs, and steak tartar in French restaurants. I will say I did find my line with food eventually in my mid twenties. I tried chocolate covered ants and it was not a good culinary experience because the exo skeleton of the ants got stuck in between my teeth. It was such an icky feeling. Right then and there I decided that insects were my line and I probably would not try that ever again unless being led by a culinary expert in that genre of food and knows how to prepare and cook it. I’m a believer that any food can taste good. You just need to know how to prepare it and find a good recipe that matches your taste.
@lucygracelaluz2020 From the conversations I’ve had from postpartum moms, definitely set up help. From one resource, she recommends finding 3-7 people to help support you through the postpartum period. I’ve been reading “The First Forty Days” by Heng Ou. She recommends only focusing literally on recovery and feeding for the first 30 days and find help to manage the rest of your home. Also, I think it’s helpful to stay connected to other newly postpartum moms as well and build a community around yourself so you don’t feel so alone and isolated while being challenged with the difficulties of caring for a newborn.
@ttc3y on your colostrum issue (so to speak), I didn’t really produce anything until after my first daughter was actually born. Not everybody leaks during pregnancy, that’s for sure! I never have. This time, I’m producing some colostrum, but I think it’s only because I have my toddler still periodically comfort nursing. It’s going to get way more filled up once baby boy gets here!
@cpk3535 I appreciate your input. I have been reading that the success or failure of antenatal colostrum is not a reflection of your breast milk supply once giving birth which I’m very grateful to have read. I’ll keep on trying until I’m due and hope for the best.
@ttc3y I bet everything will start up as soon as that sweet little baby is there to trigger the letdown. It’s so much easier than making your own breasts release anything. Mentally speaking, I think I needed the baby to trigger the letdown especially on my first pregnancy. After she arrived, it was fine. ❤️👍
I had my last in person midwife visit today. I'm finally measuring at the right amount of weeks and my midwife thinks the baby is over 7 pounds. I was concerned because I haven't been gaining much weight the last month or so. We came to the conclusion that the baby is gaining weight and I'm probably not or even losing sometimes. I'm kind of hoping she'll be under 7 like three of my babies but I'm relieved that she's growing!
@ttc3y Now that I think of it, she said that my now almost 5 year old would be 7 pounds and he was 6 lb, 4 oz but at least it gives me hope that she will be at least that too! 😁
My polyhydramnios resolved, so no induction needed at this point! Baby is measuring 8 lbs 6 oz, so I do hope he doesn't hang in there too long! My first baby was 8 lbs 10 oz. Will do a membrane sweep at next appointment on due date if he hasn't arrived by then. Feeling good about the plan in place!
I'm so sorry ladies! I have been totally MIA, for zero reason!

Upcoming Appointments: Monday. Just had one this last Monday as well
How are you feeling?: Just donnnne. I'm not always uncomfortable. Sometimes I feel great! But if I'm sitting for a long time, I get super sore. If I'm on my feet too long I'm sore. In the evenings, my Braxton's hicks are so regular and annoying. I can't sleep.
I lost my mucus plug and on Monday was sitting at 1cm dilated, 50% effaced so we shall see on Monday how much progress we've made. Happy about this because I want to walk into my induction just ready. Dilated, effaced, etc.
Rants/Raves: lol just see my "how I'm feeling".
My house is ready though! That's a rave. I feel very very ready both physically and just in life

Upcoming Appointments: Midwife a week from now, unless he has decided to show up before that 😁
How are you feeling?: Ready-ish. I'm tired, sleep is up and down, mostly poor, my body hurts. I also don't thrive in this weird limbo of not knowing. Is nothing happening for 3 weeks? Then I should make some social appointments so I won't go mental. Is he arriving tomorrow? Then I'm super busy getting the apartment fully ready. This is one thing I envy the planned C-section crowd. If I just had a date...!
Rants/Raves: Hmmm... We had cleaning today! I spent two hours just lying on the couch chatting to the cleaning lady about pregnancy and birth and babies and stuff, and I could just enjoy that I am not the one having to do the actual cleaning. I'm seriously appreciating this, particularly now in the end of 3rd trimester! No rants at the moment...
Questions: No questions either.
GTKY: what is the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten?
I feel I'm a bit unadventurous when it comes to food. I am not sure I tried anything that would be considered unusual - not around my parts of the world, anyway 😅 Tried a few insects for the fun of it?
@seeds_of_joy Since I was around 20 weeks and starting to struggle with pelvic pain. Best thing we have done 😍 Swear the place would have been an absolute mess the last two months without her! Also she gave birth 3 times at the hospital I am going to (hopefully), so she also had loads of experiences to share.
@justkp My husband and I decided to schedule our lives with social engagements up until the due date. We want to enjoy our friends pre baby as much as possible and if we need cancel, we know our friends will understand. I say go and enjoy life until the baby is ready to come. No point sitting at home!
Upcoming Appointments: waiting on induction call & doctors appt Friday is nothing changes.
How are you feeling?: feeling fine overall!
Rants/Raves: Rant! Was scheduled for an induction yesterday & was told I’d get a call yesterday morning telling me when to come in but to also know they could push it till the following day depending on how many people have come in / staffing issues. It is not 4pm my time the following day & still have not heard anything. I know I could call and check in but I think I’m just going to hold out & for my appointment tomorrow if they don’t call, would rather give my body as long as possible to hopefully naturally go into labour if possible.
Questions: lost my mucus plug yesterday, how long after you lost your plug did you go into labour?
GTKY: what is the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten? Can’t think of what exactly it was off the top of my head (can we blame pregnancy brain? 🤪) but went to a fondue place while visiting Banff, AB & tried an assortment of wild meats.
@ttc3y I think that's a good approach will try to do same and just assume I will go over time 😀 Trying to do that as much as possible as well, but I do have an SO who is cutting down on social appointments etc - because I can tell he is worried about not being there to take me to hospital when time comes. We live a bit out of time so most our social appointments will be like an hour away. So I'd feel guilty being out of the house all the time as well 😅
@lucygracelaluz2020@seeds_of_joy oh yaaaay, hopefully then my body will spontaneously go into labour before I even have the chance to get induced. Here’s hoping 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
