Hi there. I can’t even believe I am writing this but here I go. I’m 15 weeks pregnant and I had a CVS done and we just found out our baby tested positive for Cystic Fibrosis. We are now left with the choice to either continue or not continue with our pregnancy. I never thought I’d find myself in this position. I feel so alone. If anyone has gone through something like this please share your story.
Re: Unborn baby diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, I’m 15 weeks pregnant
I am a little late to your post, I just joined. In short, my mom had me and my brother before there was genetic testing for CF. We both "won" the 1 in 4 chance to get CF. We both do very well, and are on medication that makes our lives relatively normal. We are both in our 30's, we see our CF teams 3-4 times a year, and while we need breathing medications and lots of pills, it's a very well lived life. I don't know what you've chosen to do, I would support any choice because I can't lie and say it's all rainbows and sunshine - but if you still need a resource start and stay with the cystic fibrosis foundation. They are the largest, the most cutting edge, and well rounded organization out there for CFers. If you'd like to talk more don't hesitate. Wishing you the best.
