    EDD / Weeks + Days: May 5 / 26W3D
Baby is the size of a: large Domino's pizza!
    Team blue/pink/green: blue
Upcoming Appointments: glucose test and checkup 2/10
How are you feeling?: pretty good, but rolling over in bed is a multi-step process  :D
    Rants/Raves:
Rave: DH and I are finally not sick! We let DD sleep over MIL's house this weekend and we went out to the corner bar for dinner. Most of the food was just okay and arrived late, but our waiter took half the items off our bill, which was awesome.
Rant: DD is congested again...so here's hoping DH and I don't catch whatever she has, again.
Questions: Why am I so nervous about the glucose test? I didn't fail it with DD but I'm irrationally afraid I'm going to fail it this time. Maybe I'm just afraid of anything that could derail my VBAC plans.
GTKY: Do you and your partner only refer to this baby as "the baby," or do you have a name/nickname that you're using? We've been calling him "Cubby" from the start. I've already set aside a bear onesie for his first outfit. <3

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 26 + 2; May 6 but she’ll be here early
Baby is the size of a: spaghetti squash
    Team blue/pink/green: pink
Upcoming Appointments: just came from one
How are you feeling?: good but overwhelmed (see below)
Rants/Raves: rant- because of high BP last pregnancy and suspected GD this time, I have to do weekly Non stress tests and growth scans from 32w on. The only way I could schedule them without taking a TON of time off work means I’ll have to pay for aftercare for my son for those days for two months $$$$$
    Questions: nada
GTKY: Do you and your partner only refer to this baby as "the baby," or do you have a name/nickname that you're using? Before we knew she was a girl, we called her Numero Dos. Now we usually just use her name or Baby Girl.

Baby is the size of a: eggplant/shaving can/cauliflower
    Team blue/pink/green: pink
Upcoming Appointments: glucose test next week! 😬
How are you feeling?: Been having an off day today. I've had digestive issues for years now and it's just getting worse and worse with baby. I've tried fiber pills but it made everything to hard and I got hemorrhoids. My midwife recommended mag07 and now I'm having the eopposite problem. My tummy and butt is tired 😔
Rants/Raves: My friend texted me about how much snow there is while she's skiing for the next 3 days and gahhhh it pissed me off so much. I was just telling her two days ago about how winter is hard without skiing and how much I miss it. So peeved 😡
Questions: To doula or not to doula?
GTKY: Do you and your partner only refer to this baby as "the baby," or do you have a name/nickname that you're using? Eh just baby or the bump. I call her baby girl which is also my nickname for my dog so she's getting confused 😂

Baby is the size of a: boof
    Team blue/pink/green: pink
Upcoming Appointments: glucose test next week I think
How are you feeling?: Keepin' on keepin' on.
Rants/Raves: The toddler coldpocalypse let up a little in our household too, so we saw TWO friends this weekend! It's nice after a winter of cancelled friendsgivings and a hunkered down xmas to be social again. Next weekend we need an introvert break.  :D
    Questions: natm
GTKY: Do you and your partner only refer to this baby as "the baby," or do you have a name/nickname that you're using? Just "the baby" really. Refer to #1 as "the littlest Lastname" sometimes and my husband will say that actually someone else deserves that title. Trying to pick a name but it's so hard!

@hestia-is-wearie *Squeals in cuteness* we have a bear thing going on with my first and it is SO CUTE.
I think the glucose test is a little scary because you don't have any control over it--it's looking deep into the soul of your pancreas, not asking if you've had a good diet or been exercising. So you've just gotta hope that that little organ is keeping up with things insulin-wise, and that your other cells aren't giving it too hard of a time. Sometimes it's easier if you have something to *do* to affect an outcome.

@ashleyp625 Scheduling work and childcare and prenatal appointments is hard!

@casshax If a doula is feasible then I vote doula! I work in healthcare/know people on L&D/am if anything overempowered as a patient, and it's weird how hard it is to advocate for yourself--I just don't want to bother anyone, even though my entire purpose for being in a hospital is to be able to bother people to help me!  :p If you want to be more hippy/natural/special request-y, I think it helps improve trust with your care team to have a doula--if people say, "this is an emergency so we can't do your special request," you have someone knowledgeable there who can affirm that that is the case or argue on your behalf that the special request can be honored even during the emergency, and you don't have to feel like it's up to you alone to advocate for what you want. Or, if like me, your birth plan was to say, "ohhhhhhhh noooooooooo" if an epidural is unavailable, it's still nice to have someone who can support you through everything.
  • @casshax I plan to hire a doula this time around. Doulas can help improve VBAC outcomes, and I also had such a bad experience with postpartum nurses with my first that I want a second person there to advocate for me. My husband is a highly supportive partner, but he turns into a deer in headlights in a crisis, and he will probably need to go home at some point to check in on DD and our cat. I did everything "right" last time in terms of "advocating for myself" and it still wasn't enough--I was accused of having PPA because I spoke out against an abusive nurse. Even though I've changed providers/hospitals, I still want a doula there for me in case something like this happens again.
FYI, if you have a bad experience in L&D or postpartum, you are allowed to speak to the nursing floor manager before you are discharged.
@krb99 I think you nailed it: the lack of control is what scares me. My grandfather was diabetic and my dad is pre-diabetic, and my 23AndMe results show I have a predisposition to Type 2 diabetes when I'm older...but no one in my family has ever developed GD. So who knows.

Baby is the size of a: kale or shoebox
    Team blue/pink/green: blue
Upcoming Appointments: glucose screen in a couple weeks
How are you feeling?: I feel like I’m starting the downward trend to being tired a lot again. Noticing that some things are way harder than they used to be!
Rants/Raves: for weeks I’ve been thinking I’d get used to baby kicks and movements but I have decided at this point I kind of hate them. Besides the reassurance that he’s moving around in there, half the time they startle me, and the other half are just unpleasantly aggressive. This guy has huge arms and I feel like a punching bag. I definitely thought I’d have warm fuzzy feelings about feeling baby move inside me but mostly I’m like “dude please chill” 😂
    Questions: natm
GTKY: Do you and your partner only refer to this baby as "the baby," or do you have a name/nickname that you're using? Mostly he’s “the baby” because we haven’t
picked a name yet but when we talk about how weird pregnancy is he’s “the being” (from Nathan Pyle’s Strange Planet comics) because it feels like I’m growing an alien

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 5/16 25 weeks
Baby is the size of a: cauliflower

    Upcoming Appointments: Friday
How are you feeling?: Just tired. Coffee in the AM, which I am only drinking on the weekends has me more tired than when I am drinking my black tea, so I am just going to cut out coffee.
Rants/Raves: ***TW parental and grandparent loss mentioned also a friend's miscarriage***

Rant, it just feels like the family is taking punch after punch. I think that I shared that my dad and then paternal grandpa passed away in July then November last year. My maternal grandmother has been in and out of the hospital and rehab since before Thanksgiving and my mom (an only child) is dealing with a lot with insurance, nursing homes all of that, so trying to help when I can, but without being POA it's not a lot. Then we found out that DH grandpa who is 92 has been diagnosed with cancer after he and grandma moved into an assisted living apartment this weekend. It just feels like so much is going on with the elder relatives in our family. I feel like I have not really processed the losses I experienced last year, because the end of the year was the busiest we have ever been. I am almost feeling numb to the news of GIL and grandmother. I probably need to schedule a therapy session it just feels like a super tough season right now. And I know there are not a lot of folks who still have living grandparents so we of course feel very blessed to have them in our lives and the kids lives. It just feels like one after another and is so much.

Rave, one of my best friends miscarried in at 8 weeks in the fall, she was meant to be due just 4 weeks before me. I finally got to see her and really hang out with her (not at kids birthday parties) and talk to her Saturday. Was so so good to see her. I think we were both feeling guilty about not being there for one another (her for me after losing my grandpa and me with her after her miscarriage) so it was great to see her and just hug her!

Questions: I have bassinet questions, but I need to find the nursery furniture thread.
GTKY: Do you and your partner only refer to this baby as "the baby," or do you have a name/nickname that you're using? Yes, we've used nicknames for all of them. This one is Cowboy, because DS1 wants to name the baby that haha. DS2 was Tiny 2 and then and this is an odd one, DS1 was Tecumseh. He was a Native American chief in southern OH. There is a huge house by us with a large wooden statue of him and for whatever reason that I cannot remember that stuck so that was his nickname.

    Team blue/pink/green: pink
Upcoming Appointments: Anatomy scan today (finally)

    Rants/Raves:
    Questions:
GTKY: Do you and your partner only refer to this baby as "the baby," or do you have a name/nickname that you're using? We call her by her name (Poppy) - the kids call her Baby Poppy which is cute. Everything is "Baby Poppy will like this, I'll save it for her" or "We were just talking and Baby Poppy thinks you need to lay down and read me a book, mom." It's so sweet.
  • FTM/STM/TTM+: STM with twins
    EDD / Weeks + Days: 23wk4days
Baby is the size of a: Grapefruit

    Team blue/pink/green: Pink x2

Upcoming Appointments: OB next week, ultrasound in two weeks

How are you feeling?: Worried: I had my follow up for my anatomy ultrasound today, and was told that baby A has a vascular ring around her trachea. 🥺 So far I’m being told that the ring appears loose and could potentially not be a problem. So I’m trying to challenge my anxiety regarding this but it’s hard when she’s mentioning associations to chromosome abnormalities. But I guess for now just positive thoughts and vibes🙏🏼.

Rants/Raves: Loving the kicks 🥰 I really enjoy touching parts of my belly and having them kick me afterwards; it’s the best🥰🥰!

Questions: Anyone have any experience with Vascular ring? If so, any helpful information?

GTKY: Do you and your partner only refer to this baby as "the baby," or do you have a name/nickname that you're using? Twinnies, the twins, or the babies. We are still struggling with names we both like, our families can pronounce, and have some relation to each other (ex. start with the same letter or similar sound).

How are you feeling?: Meh. Maybe a little better? Or I'm at least trying to kid myself that I am.
Rants/Raves: We got DD's new room all finished up and have started putting the nursery back together! It makes me feel less anxious to see the physical space falling into place.
    Questions: None today
GTKY: Do you and your partner only refer to this baby as "the baby," or do you have a name/nickname that you're using? Mostly just "the baby" or if we're talking to DD then "baby brother."

    EDD / Weeks + Days: May 13 / 25w5d

Baby is the size of a: cauliflower

    Team blue/pink/green: blue

Upcoming Appointments: today 2/2 regular app & 2/8 ultrasound to check cervixs and baby’s measurements to see if he’s growing good 🤞🏻

How are you feeling?: pretty decent thankfully. Throwing up some I’ve been trying to eat more protein because of his size and protein is hard for me to intake at this point, mostly animal proteins so I’m making a million different meals a day not only for myself but everyone since everyone in my family has a certain diet to stick to 😣

Rants/Raves: eating is a struggle, I’m gonna go broke drinking smoothies everyday. I found the perfect drink at Jamba Juice to mask the taste of protein powder. I just need to find the recipe to do it at home.

    Questions: not at this moment

GTKY: Do you and your partner only refer to this baby as "the baby," or do you have a name/nickname that you're using? He gets referred a lot as baby or brother and sometimes Jack which is his name.

Rants/Raves: rave... We leave for our babymoon next weekend! So excited to get away before baby comes as we didn't get to do it with our first due to COVID. We're doing Hawaii, so it'll be a nice break from winter.

    Questions: NATM
GTKY: Do you and your partner only refer to this baby as "the baby," or do you have a name/nickname that you're using? We're calling the baby parasite mostly... It's gender neutral and both my mom and my mother in law hate it, so it's perfect. Haha.

    Questions:
GTKY: Do you and your partner only refer to this baby as "the baby," or do you have a name/nickname that you're using? Normally just baby. Not a huge fan of nicknames and we don't have a name picked yet.
  • @casshax I looked up the Mag07 supplement and it has over 1k mg of magnesium, which is a lot! I use magnesium too but only take 250 mg a day unless my digestion is off then I’ll take 500. I like Nature’s Way Magnesium Complex because each capsule is 250 mg so I can regulate how much I take. It’s helpful postpartum too when going to the bathroom is a bit scary/painful depending on your delivery. I used them after my first and had no issues or pain going to the bathroom. Hope that’s helpful!
