HCG Levels

Has anyone been required to have their hcg levels checked every two days by their doctor prior to six weeks?

My dr had me tested at 5w1d and 5w3d to make sure hcg was increasing bc I was experiencing some dark brown spotting during week 4. Thankfully my numbers doubled and spotting has stopped. No additional plans for testing again before first ultrasound.

  • I'm a little disappointed my doctor wouldn't check my levels. We asked specifically at 4 weeks and they were like "nah you don't need it, come back at 8 weeks for ultrasound and then 13 for any blood tests". Might be normal for the area I'm in though? (Rural SE Asia) I'm not sure.

@linh18 my first pregnancy I didn’t request early testing and wasn’t offered it, but I did do blood work at my 8 week appointment. Based off that, 13 weeks seems late to me- especially since in the states if you’re doing genetic testing (first trimester or NIPT), you can get tested as early as 10 weeks. I’m not a medical professional and I’m sure your doctors have their reasons. However if you want testing I would hope they would honor your request. If only for your own peace of mind. Good luck!!
  • I got mine checked yesterday at 5wk because of a small amount of spotting and an earlier ultrasound Tuesday. Not sure if they will be checking the levels again on Tuesday too. The original plan was to wait until 8 weeks.
  • Thank you ladies for your replies. It does just seem like such a long time to wait.
