Hi there! My 7 week old falls asleep while nursing every single time. I’ve tried talking to him, tickling his feet or cheeks, switching sides, changing diaper between, but nothing seems to work. This seems to be causing issues with his naps and sleeping. Any advice?
Going through the same issue with one week old. It could be that the baby is not latching properly. That’s what we are working on. If the baby isn’t latched then it becomes a self soothing session instead of nursing.
This was happening with my son, I met with a lactation consultant and discovered he has a lip tie. Babies don’t have much energy and he was using most of it to latch properly. By the time he got some milk he was sleep. I was told to nurse him naked (diaper on skin to skin) & try different positions.
