Babies on the Brain

Thinking about kids, but I'm not sure if we're able

I've fallen down a rabbit hole doing research with kids and such. My boyfriend is 41 (42 in April) and I'm 19. We're talking about having kids, but unsure if we are able. He has two daughters, 18 and 10, but told me he's unsure if he's able to have any more. I've heard that if someone has, say, two daughters, it's more likely for the other child to be another girl, is that true?

Thank you so much for your help and support.  <3

Why does he think he’s unable to have more kids? Has he has fertility testing in the past? Were his two conceived with fertility assistance? It has nothing to do with age for men. There are very few concerns regarding advanced paternal age, unlike the concerns that arose with advanced material age. You may need to have a deeper conversation about why he thinks he’s unable to have more children.

According to the WHO, every pregnancy has a slightly higher chance of being male than female. Something like 51% male and 49% female. The sex of pervious children or pregnancies have no influence over the next. So every pregnancy, no matter your or your partners kids’ genders, will be a toss up.

  • He has had two vasectomies in the past, but not sure if they worked or not because his ex had a few miscarriages when they were together. The two of us are planning to get tested when we're together.
