    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): chocolate truffle

Upcoming appointments: Ultrasound coming up on Friday, Jan 20

How are you feeling? I feel less pregnant today after being so sick yesterday. I tried to sip liquids all day but throwing up 6x did not help at all. So I feel like I'm in a limbo  :/

Raves/Rants: I got a callback from 2 midwifery groups, each with privileges to different hospitals. Choosing one is hard without having spoken to either of my assigned midwives yet.

    Questions: None at the moment

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? We went to Bali and Singapore for our honeymoon and I still dream about it - it was so much fun and we ate like kings. Japan is up there in my top 3.

  • @wendy838 is it hard to choose based on which group, or because of which hospital?

EDD/Weeks + days: … I had an ultrasound today and I’m jumped up to 12 weeks and new EDD is 7/31. But I’m sticking here because this baby will probably be an august baby still.

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out, the u/s tech guessed maybe boy today but didn’t want to “call it” officially, so still team finding out for sure.

Baby is the size of a(n): uh, a 12 week old fetus instead of an 11 & two days one

Upcoming appointments: next is early February.

How are you feeling? Exhausted all the time and some nasal congestion. Not really any nausea or any of that anymore.

Raves/Rants: We are going on a mountain trip with IL family later this week (MIL, FIL, SILs & their families). I guess it’s time they will all find out I’m pregnant because I won’t be snowboarding, or drinking, or sitting in the hot tub… what fun can I have?

Questions: Anyone had a low laying placenta? I was told today that it is partially covering the cervix but that they often move up out of the way as time goes on. Another thing I didn’t realize I had to worry about.

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? I went with a group of friends to HP wizarding world when that first opened in CA

    EDD/Weeks + days: 9 wk 2 days  EDD 8/19

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: FINDING OUT!!! just want it to be healthy

Baby is the size of a(n): Cherry 🍒

Upcoming appointments: next Monday the 23rd. Can’t come fast enough. I just need to hear that heart beat!!

How are you feeling? Physically great. Slight queasy maybe once a day. But it’s not bad. And tender breasts. But again, not bad. Not even painful. I’ve been super lucky!
Emotionally. Wrecked. Because I’m scared of miscarriage. I haven’t had a successful pregnancy. My mind is on overdrive.

Raves/Rants: I can’t stop craving cream cheese. That is all 🤣

Questions: do they do ultra sounds at every doctors apts ?

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken?

hmmm. Just took one this past fall. Just went to Tennessee. Had a cabin in the mountains with my best friends. It was relaxing.
  • @tumbleweed-1 I'm not as worried about the hospitals, I've heard good things about both and they're about the same distance from our home. It's more the group (which midwife will I connect with more), although I'm sure they're both great. I'm probably just overthinking it :)
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 8/1 & 11w6d

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: green but not finding out!

Baby is the size of a(n): width of a Reese’s cup

Upcoming appointments: tomorrow 1/17 for the chromosome blood work test

How are you feeling? Good overall now, most morning sickness and nausea went from 100 to 15. Just congestion at night time and sore throat for mouth snoring.

Raves/Rants: I can’t wait to tell my family. Just waiting to hit the 12 week mark and I have a fun surprise telling them. Just tired of them asking me for favors like cooking for them or they would surprise me and come over and I feel like I have to cater when all I want to do is lay there and take a nap.

Questions: how do I know if everything is going well after the first ultrasound if taken at 11 weeks? I understand you have to wait until after 12 weeks and the percentage of miscarriages goes down to 5%, but how do you know everything is still ok? Do I need to wait for the next ultrasound?

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken?  Mexico with my SO. Early in our dating years we took our first trip to playa del Carmen and it was perfect weather everyday, the food was amazing, the vibe was awesome, and we had hot sex everyday lol
  • @wendy838 I’m sorry you have been so sick.

@tumbleweed-1 With my last baby it was very obvious he was a boy at the 12 week scan. I told the tech that I think we have a boy and she went and checked it out and she agreed. My genetic results came back while I was in the office and it confirmed boy.

@melissa112009 I’m sorry you have been anxious. I have been feeling the same way. As for US at every visit, no they will check the heartbeat at every visit and if they can’t find it then they will do an US.

@gingermama29 That trip sounds amazing. I’m teaching Spanish to my kids and I get excited when we go places and I understand things. Some native speaking people where on a bus with us once and my daughter just blurted out random Spanish and they ended up having a full conversation. They were impressed with her “conversational” Spanish. Apparently, most people speak to them in a more formal way.

@lmn823 Your provider will check the heartbeat at each visit and then you will have the anatomy scan. At some point you will start feeling movement and that’s how you know. Until then, you just have to assume everything is ok until proven otherwise.

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): grape

Upcoming appointments: Jan 30th or 31st. It’s that Monday.

How are you feeling? My symptoms vary from day to day but my anxiety seems to be skyrocketing. I’m not really sure why. I just feel anxious about everything.

Raves/Rants: I’m over the snow and cold. Although, I’m perfecting my routine with getting the kids dressed and out of the vehicle within a 10 minute period instead of 30 minutes. I guess I should be thankful it’s been in the 20’s and not the -20’s.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? My Honeymoon to hawaii. We spent 2 weeks there and it was just the 2 of us. It was the last relaxing vacation I have ever taken. Vacationing with kids isn’t very relaxing and if you happen to be really unlucky and they all get sick, it’s actually like being in hell. 😆 True story, that actually happened to us once. My husband swore we would never leave our house again.
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 8/16 9w5d

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out everyone thinks it’s a girl though, trying to not get my hopes up! I’d love the baby regardless but have always dreamed of having a little girl

Baby is the size of a(n): chocolate truffle

Upcoming appointments: Monday I have an appointment. I bet they’ll recheck my progesterone because they have me on suppositories

How are you feeling? I have felt like my symptoms have eased up a bit in the last few days. Still really nauseous and throw up if I wake up too early. I also have had cramping today that’s been a little more uncomfortable than it has been but not as bad as my first pregnancy. It still makes me anxious though.

Raves/Rants: I watch a baby during the week and they keep showing up 10minutes before scheduled time. In the grand scheme of things it’s really not a big deal but that’s 10 less minutes I get to lay in bed when I feel nauseous

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? I think it’s a tie between Australia 2012 and Vegas 2020. Australia was super cool and fun and completely unforgettable. I was representing the US for an international track meet in Brisbane and it was an amazing experience. Vegas was the first(and only) big out of state vacation we went on without DS. We were there for a week and it was so amazing to have all that time together, eat good food, and relax! The food was a big portion in it being one of the best, I still dream about the food there😂
  • @gingermama29 where in Italy? I did a summer study abroad there in college 1000 years ago, living in a tiny town called Paderno del Grappa in the Veneto region (literally two restaurants, a convenience store, and one church while I was there) and it was absolutely an experience. At school everyone spoke English (it was a program through the University of Kansas so everyone in it was American) but not much of the town did, so I tried to get out sometimes to test myself in my Italian. I discovered I understood it FAR better than I spoke it (I only took a six-week language crash course before I went), but could get by mishmashing what I did know with Spanish, French, and hand signals. My sister and I went back to Italy two years later, after I graduated college and she was finishing up a semester in France, but not to my little town. And then I made a deal with myself that if I was still single at 30 I would go back and do a cooking trip through Italy, by myself...but I met my husband at 28 and got married at 29. Foiled again! I'd love to get back there though.

    Team: Finding Out

Baby is the size of a raspberry!

    Upcoming appointments: 1/24

How are you feeling? Pretty good, except I’m napping like it is my literal job (apologies to my real, literal job 😅).

Raves/Rants: Raving about how good food tastes this pregnancy. I have little bursts of nausea, but mostly anything I eat tastes 10x better than normal, and I love it. Had this in my first pregnancy too, but not in the others. Ranting about insomnia—if I could sleep before 1 or 2 am, I might not need so many naps… 😴

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? When I was studying abroad at Oxford, some friends and I took a weekend trip to Ireland. We biked around Inis Mór, army crawled out to the edges of the cliffs to peek over them, and pet the ponies and the sheep, and it was about as wonderful and picturesque as you could hope.
  • @ki1244 we were in southern Italy. My brother lives just outside of Naples in a small town called Pozzuoli. We flew into Rome, spent a few days in Caserta (which is where he got married), several days in Pozzuoli, and ended the trip in Rome. Your summer abroad trip sounds so fun! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 10w

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: I wish I had the patience to be team green, but I'm sure we'll find out asap.

Baby is the size of a(n): lego guy

Upcoming appointments: we have an ultrasound appointment 1/25

How are you feeling? just really tired.

    Raves/Rants:

    Questions:

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? The month before my wedding I surprised my son and took him to Disney for a mommy & me weekend as a surprise just for him with all the wedding stuff that was going on. We ended up missing dh so much he jumped on a plane and surprised us down there.
  • Wow NZ?? What a dream. And Fiji 😍😍 I wouldve loved a honeymoon in Fiji. That’s almost a whole day of travel time from NYC (where I am from)
  • EDD/Weeks + days: aug 27th 8 weeks 2days Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out Baby is the size of a(n): raspberry/dime Upcoming appointments: January 19th with my family dr How are you feeling? Exhausted 24/7, off and on nausea with the odd vomiting. Boobs are so sore and food doesn’t apeal to me till i get a craving and that’s all I want Raves/Rants: I got accepted into the midwives care which originally I was wait listed. Rants: unsure how my relationship is going to work out, we both love each other and our kids but there is a lot of crap going on Questions: GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? Probably bc in 2014 with my family to visit my grandparents
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 8/23 8w,6d

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): almost a cherry

Upcoming appointments: I think 2/10 is my next appointment. I have to do my labs next week

How are you feeling? Tired, no appetite, nauseous

Raves/Rants: I’m making it through the week somehow. That’s the best I have after a weekend of being laid up and super nauseous

    Questions: n/a

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? We don’t travel much anymore due to our kids being busy. But one of the first times my husband and I went to Florida together when we were dating was probably my favorite vacation. I think it was around 2009. We rented a car and drove all over. Went down The Keys, saw a rocket launch, went to Disney, saw a baseball game. Super fun trip.
    Dx: Non-IR PCOS

  • EDD/Weeks + days: 12w 8/2

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team Green

Baby is the size of a(n): Lime

Upcoming appointments: I just had one Monday. I think my next is 2/13

How are you feeling? Still really good. I don't really have any symptoms. Just some bloating.

Raves/Rants: My daughter is sick with some unknown virus. Her fever finally broke, but then we had to wait 24 hours before we could send her back to daycare. I always say that sickness is the hardest part of parenting. It's a little bit of a scramble during the work week to figure out how we're going to juggle it and then also just being worried when she's sick too :-/ I think she's on the mend at least.

    Questions:

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? We went to Spain for our 10 year and it was great. We traveled and ate our way all around and saw Barcelona, Granada, Madrid, and Seville.
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 8/18 9w5d

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team Green… per my husband. Idk if I can wait that long!!

Baby is the size of a: chocolate truffle

Upcoming appointments: first one on 1/24 and I cannot wait.

How are you feeling? This week has really ramped up all the pregnancy nausea. I very rarely throw up (like 3 times in my entire life that my mom or I can even remember), some reason I really resist it and end up dry heaving instead. But that feeling is there all throughout the day now and sometimes I wish I could just throw up and get it over with. Let the dogs out? Dirty dishes? Dry heaving everywhere. Super fun. Oh and I’m so darn tired.

Raves/Rants: Really struggling with what I want to do in terms of work when baby arrives. My dream job is my ICU job with a 65 minute commute… but I also have an okayish job 5 minutes from home at another hospital. I need to probably drop one and I’m having such a hard time deciding. Advice welcome.

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? I’ve traveled a lot (perks of being an immigrant kid x2) so this is hard to say!! One that’s popping into mind right now is when my now husband and I went with our university band and toured a few countries in Europe. He ended up proposing in the last country which made for a pretty special ending!
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 8/10, so I think 11 weeks tomorrow (?). I'm so lazy this time around with it, I swear.

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): edible item. No clue. I've seen anything from cherry to kumquat and I feel like those are fairly different...

Upcoming appointments: 1/26 for regular visit + blood work

How are you feeling? Peeing a lot, randomly wanting snack foods (although that's not so abnormal...) but otherwise pretty much normal.

Raves/Rants: tomorrow is Daddy Daughter Date Night (YAAAAASSSSS I love hanging out with my dad, and my daughter loves hanging out with my husband, and I love getting a night off after solo parenting A LOT while he's been out of town/at basketball games). But... we're getting pelted with a big snowstorm right now. And it's the kind that looks like snow but hits like ice. I'm PRAYING that the roads are ok by tomorrow because I've been SO EXCITED for a break.

    Questions: none now

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? This is so hard. As a kid, we had a lot of family vacations we drove to (places like Yellowstone, Kansas City, Minneapolis, the Amana Colonies, etc) or we went to for Dad's conferences (a few Disney trips). My sister and I did 10 days in France, Italy, and Greece after college graduation and that was amazing. My husband and I have been to Disney World a LOT, but also got to go to Spain and stay in 5-star hotels and eat amazing meals for two weeks for a grand total of $1500 because it was with the basketball team he was coaching. And our first Disney World trip with my daughter when she was old enough to actually register where she was (20 months, vs the trip we took with her at 8 months) was absolutely magical. But those just...aren't really comparable.
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 10w2d

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: officially team finding out even though we didn’t find out with our first

Baby is the size of a(n): strawberry or a paper clip?

Upcoming appointments: Friday with MFM to make my case for Lovenox (blood thinner injections as a prevention due to my clotting disorder, Factor V Leiden). They will check on baby too I think so hopefully will get a better picture than last time

How are you feeling? Today I didn’t feel great. Stomach wasn’t full on cramping but after dinner I became really uncomfortable. I was cramping a bit and then had sharp pains in my chest. I took it easy for about 20 minutes and it all passed. Hoping it was nothing

Raves/Rants: I am raving about our nanny. I love her and she brings peace to my life. Today I told her I’m pregnant in an attempt to see if she’d want to stay for the long haul while DS starts preschool in the fall and baby is born. I‘ll

Questions: this is maybe my own mental health screaming for help here but do things get easier as a parent once kindergarten starts? Whether or not you homeschool, I feel like at least by then your kid can focus on something without talking to you every 3 seconds? Another way to ask this question could be: how do you all stay sane when your toddler won’t stop talking, running, fussing, asking for things? I think I’ve realized I get overstimulated super quickly and my brain kind of goes haywire amidst the toddler crazy

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken?  My top has to be the semester I took off from college to work on organic farms in Italy. I traveled to four farms and worked and stayed with the farmers and their families. It was lovely. And then in between farms I flew to Spain to visit my friends who were studying abroad there and I LOVED Madrid. The fact that this is my favorite trip reminds me that I don’t actually love vacations — I find them stressful and exhausting — instead I like deeply immersive experiences like this where I’m doing something different / living a different life as opposed to visiting somewhere.
  • @ccmrc143 I stay sane by taking time during the day where the kids are doing something away from me. During nap my older ones do quiet time and during that time they aren’t allowed to bother me. Some days it’s 30 minutes and some days it’s 2.5 hours. It just depends on how the day is going and if they are occupied nicely during quiet time.
  • @ccmrc143 Sorry you’re going through it with your toddler! My husband and I are introverts, and our 5 year old is an extreme extrovert. Sending him to kindergarten this fall was the best decision ever for us. He loves it, gets all the interaction he craves, and we get a bit of a respite from overstimulation.

I’ll echo @emeraldcity603 and say that daily quiet times are super helpful. I also did a lot of sensory bin type stuff when he was younger, and that would sometimes keep his attention for 1/2 hour to an hour at a time. His favorite is a “snow” bin (baking soda) with arctic animals and trees, but he also adores kinetic sand and water play in the sink.
  • @lily.Hazel my kids like to wash dishes in the sink. Who am I to not let them enjoy that. 🤣 I just pile the dishes up for them and let them at it.
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 08/08 11W3D

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Already found out with the MaterniT 21 PLUS test. We are having a boy!

Baby is the size of a(n):Lime

Upcoming appointments: 1/30 for next routine ultrasound and appointment

How are you feeling? extremely tired, sore boobs, bloated on and off

Raves/Rants: I am a back sleeper. I am trying to transition to side sleeping. I got a wedge pillow which is helping some, but I am still waking up at night because I am uncomfortable (and to pee).

Also, I am the director of lab operations at a biotech company. I originally volunteered to help my staff with a big screen in the lab. However, I found out that I can't because the reagents we are using aren't safe for the baby. It is too early to tell them, so I had to quietly remove myself from the schedule. I really want to tell them, so they don't think I am a jerk for bailing, but trying to hold off for a few more weeks. Even though I am their boss, I still like to go in the lab and be apart of the team for these big pushes. That has been really hard for me.

Questions: Is 13 weeks too early to tell work? Should I try to wait until I am closer to 16 weeks? I am also 5'3 and starting to show, so I am really torn on what to do. This is my 1st pregnancy and all signs point to things being healthy and normal, but I still constantly worry about miscarrying.

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? Last year, my husband and I went on a trip around the world with some friends. We went from DC to LA, LA to Singapore, Singapore to Bali, Bali to Dubai, Dubai to DC. It was a three week trip and we loved it! Singapore and Dubai are very modern and beautiful. The gardens in Singapore are breathtaking. The architecture in Dubai is incredible. Bali is beautiful in a different way. It is a very natural and spiritual place. We went scuba diving in Bali as well which was awesome. We saw sea turtles, sharks, lots of cool fish! I love experiencing other cultures and can't wait to go back to Asia one day.
  • @cecabrera10 It’s a personal decision for everyone, so you can tell them whenever you feel comfortable unless there’s a reason you need to disclose earlier (for safety). I’m a high school teacher and already told my students (at 8 weeks) because pregnancy makes me really easily winded, so I was having to change my classroom behavior. Not everyone would make the same choice. Lots of people wait until they’re through the first trimester or even later. I usually start telling people at work whenever my pregnancy starts to affect me in a way that might be noticeable to others or might affect others.
