Hi everyone, Having my third girl! Looking for a middle name to honor my dad who passed about a year and a half ago. His name was David (Dave) Wayne Scholl. Any ideas?? Husband doesn’t love Davey - any spelling. Thank you!!
Davin may be an option for you. It’s typically more masculine but seems to work for a girl better than David. Vidya or Vidia could also be options as they use the -vid of David.
I don't really like any attempts to feminize David or Wayne. Have you considered using Scholl as the middle name? I've seen family surnames used in the middle before as a way of passing them down from the mothers side and although it's not "beautiful" it is a stronger connection to your dad and your family.
Sorry for your loss, my Dad was also named David and passed away a few years ago. The honor names I like are Davyn (dav-in with the a sounding like the a in Apple) or Devyn.
We honored other family by mainly using the first letter but added in 2-3 letters from another name. So looking at the full name maybe take a few letters and even if it makes more sense scrambled you will always know the meaning behind it. It worked with our girl names honoring family but now needed a boy name it wasn't working taking the letters straight from the name so we are using just a few letters to work from and trying different combinations. Hope you find something that feels just right.
