Re: Weekly Check In Jan 9

  • @amccurls thanks for being on top of the threads! It’s exciting to be getting to the end, but I think it’s made us all a little extra busy.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: Feb 4/36+2

Baby is the size of a(n): papaya

    Team blue/pink/green: blue 💙

Upcoming Appointments: Wednesday, just a weekly check in and we’ll go over my birth plan then, too.

How are you feeling?: just large and heavy. Like my hips hurt, I’m not sleeping well, and there’s pelvic pressure and everything, but it all comes back to size more than anything. I’m so ready to not be pregnant anymore.

Rants/Raves: We finally settled on a pediatrician, which maybe took us a little too long. But I’m very happy about it, because we’ll be seeing a friend from college who’s in family medicine. We kept going back and forth about whether we should find someone closer (he’s 25 minutes away) but ultimately, it feels really good to know we’ll be taking our baby to someone we really trust and whose philosophy is evidence-based and aligns with ours.

    Questions: natm

GTKY: if it was karaoke night, what would you sing? It’s always Country Roads first. Other songs might happen, too, but I don’t think it’s possible to be from WV and not have that at the top of your karaoke list.

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: Feb 8 / 35 wks + 5 Days

Baby is the size of a(n): Pineapple

    Team blue/pink/green: 💙

Upcoming Appointments: Swab & bedside ultrasound on Friday!

How are you feeling?: Overall pretty good, definitely getting tired much faster than normal. But no complaints yet!

Rants/Raves: The closer it gets the more anxiety I have about giving birth as a first time mom! Trying to read & keep myself as informed as possible hoping that will help me come delivery day. But definitely not ready for him to come out yet, or at least to have to get him out 😅

Questions: Name suggestions for baby boy with middle name Nicholas? We are STRUGGLING with deciding on anything. We like the name Noah the most so far but are a little torn with it being the top name constantly lately.

GTKY: if it was karaoke night, what would you sing?

    Anything Shania Twain. 🤠

  • @fertile-turtle not a problem! I don’t have much to do now that I’m not working

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 35 + 5

Baby is the size of a(n): 🍍

    Team blue/pink/green: pink

Upcoming Appointments: Thursday for cultures and growth scan

How are you feeling?: not good. I was up from 3-6am. Could not go back to sleep. Got a small nap from 6-7:30. Noticed a tightness in my upper abdomen last night. Figured I just needed to poop. That didn’t help. Laid down for a bit on the couch this morning and it mostly went away. But now it’s back. No other labor symptoms so I’m kinda just laying around for now. If it intensifies over the rest of the day, I plan to call the OB office.

Also have 0 appetite. Trying to force some food down.

Rants/Raves: rant would be the above. Rave - I was getting discouraged at this church we’ve been trying because I didn’t really feel super welcome and a lot of the people were older and not many kids my sons age. We tried the 2nd service and I immediately made 2 friends and my son couldn’t stop talking about how much fun he had with kids his age and actually remembered what he learned. I was so excited after I left!

    Questions: natm

GTKY: if it was karaoke night, what would you sing?  Honestly, I don’t ever go anywhere to have the opportunity to sing karaoke. But it’d probably be some ridiculous kids song like one of the dinosaur songs by story bots 🤣

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 34 weeks, 3 days

Baby is the size of a(n): Butternut squash

    Team blue/pink/green: pink

Upcoming Appointments: 34 week OB tomorrow and then first MFM ultrasound and appointment on Wednesday. Was diagnosed with GD for the first time (this is my 4th) at 28 weeks and finally getting little miss checked out. Blood sugars have all been good though so not too worried

How are you feeling?: Good! Hips hurting a ton but I think she dropped.

Rants/Raves: Rave: I live in Michigan and we've had 5 minutes of sun since December 28. It's sunny right now and all 3 of my boys are napping! Yay! Lol

Questions: Girl middle name is between Reese Emerson and Reese Everly. Any thoughts?

GTKY: if it was karaoke night, what would you sing? I would never lol but probably owl city, Michelle branch, or dc talk. Lol there's a combo for ya to show my musical spectrum haha
  • @elmich3 I love the name everly 🥰
  • @lucygracelaluz2020 I've been passing time by doing anything that prepares me for welcoming Baby, whether it's nesting or practicing my hypnobirth or doing something on my massive to-do list.

@bbd2023 this will be my 6th delivery and every single time, I've come to a point where I really need to decide if I'm going to deal with the anxiety. This time around, I'm trying to stay away from negative stories or thoughts and really focus on positive thoughts, praying as I go and reminding myself that giving birth is something we were made for. Surround yourself with positive birth stories and encouraging affirmations. I think of it as a good thing that you're feel anxious because that means you're acknowledging fears you may have and that's an important step to overcoming them. Birth will likely go by much smoother if we're in a relaxed state of surrender and not fear. That's what I'm striving for and Its a mental battle for sure but one you can win. ❤️

@amccurls did you ever find out about the weird chest thing you were experiencing when lying on you one side? Interesting symptoms! Hang in for another 9 days! 😜 That's wonderful that you found a church family!

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 33 weeks, 6 days

Baby is the size of a(n): some type of vegetable or gigantic fruit I imagine

    Team blue/pink/green:pink

    Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow

How are you feeling?: I have a pinched nerve in my hip STILL and my gallbladder is getting squished from the baby so basically anytime I eat fat and sit, I'm uncomfortable. Other than that pretty good.

Rants/Raves: I'm a bit worried that my husband won't get the floor in the birthing room where the pool is going in 3 weeks. Trying not to stress out about it. And I'm emotional because my 11 year old's guitar neck cracked. It was a gift from someone and he was getting really good at it and now I don't know how we'll replace it. 😢

    Questions:

GTKY: if it was karaoke night, what would you sing? Never. I am not good at singing or pretending I am. 😆

  • @seeds_of_joy no, I haven’t had my appt yet. But it also stopped. So I was guessing it may have been what someone (I forget who) mentioned before about baby sitting on a certain nerve and it causing an anxiety attack like feeling. That’s basically what it felt like. I hope your sons guitar and the flooring work out!
  • @amccurls glad it stopped!!

It turns out the guitar we need to replace isn't as expensive as we thought so we may be able to find an affordable used one and if not, his birthday is in March. 😊
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 2/24: 33w + 3 days

Baby is the size of a(n): pineapple! 🍍

    Team blue/pink/green: 💚

Upcoming Appointments: This Wednesday for my first NST test followed by a midwife appointment to review right after. It’s weekly appointments for me from here on out plus weekly BPP scans starting next week. The joys of a high risk labeled pregnancy.

How are you feeling?: Ok. Dealing with some anxiety and insomnia although I don’t think they are  necessarily related to each other. Definitely feeling more pressure around my cervix area too, especially when squatting.

Rants/Raves: I can’t remember if I shared this last week but my husband came down with COVID. Fortunately, I’m still COVID negative but a bit overwhelmed with having more responsibility in the home because my energy is more limited.

Rave: I’ve discovered keto ice cream which has made me very happy! 😋

    Questions: natm

GTKY: if it was karaoke night, what would you sing?

“I Feel Pretty” from West Side Story or a Beatles song like “Come Together” or “Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da”

  • @seeds_of_joy Appreciate the advice! I’m gonna start looking up some positive & empowering birth stories!
Not sure how you manage to dodge the million people that decide they need to tell you their/and or someone they knows horror stories as soon as you get pregnant. Can we collectively agree to not do this? 😅🙃

@itsjess627 that was actually a top contender but we are hesitant with just how popular it is right now 🤪
  • @bbd2023 It is really hard to filter it out. Sometimes you have to nicely tell people not to share things like that. Other times it's too late because they just blurt it out. My mom keeps sending me sensitive videos and articles, mainly about babies and I've just ignored most of them but I think I might need to tell her to hold off for a while. It's just pretty much impossible to not be exposed to some negativity but the more positive stories and thoughts you fill up with, the more the negative ones will get pushed out hopefully. 😊

@ttc3y glad you found an ice cream you can eat!! I was enjoying a nice oatmilk ice cream that didn't have much sugar and they took it away. 😭"They" as in the goblins of store shelves and what not..
  • @seeds_of_joy Hopefully the ice cream faeries will restock the store shelves soon with your favorite oat milk ice cream!❤️
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 35 weeks

Baby is the size of a(n): feels like a bowling ball lol but my app says a bunch of carrots

Team blue/pink/green: green… getting so excited to find out!!

Upcoming Appointments: Monday for growth scan and position check. However baby still feels stubbornly breech 😫

How are you feeling?: why awful of course lol  my digestion has slowed down to the pace of a slug and the nausea and constipation are killing me. This has been my toughest pregnancy by far.

Rants/Raves:  rave is that my work is throwing me a surprise baby shower today which is so sweet. Someone accidentally sent the email to the distribution list so I got the email. So not as much of a surprise lol

Rant is just how I’m feeling physically which has made my mental health take a hit.  Trying to connect with positivity and gratitude and hold onto moments of excitement but mostly just feel meh.

Questions: what is everyone doing as far as visitors after birth? Parents coming to help? I am sure I’ll need help but I find it Hard to balance needing help and also needing space. The adjustment and hormones is a lot after birth for me .

GTKY: if it was karaoke night, what would you sing? Oh lord I can’t sing and probably would never do it but if I did it would have to be some 80s jam for me. Like some cyndi lauper or Madonna

  • @bbd2023 personally, I think if you love it, go with it! We’ve settled on Theodore (Teddy) for a first name, which has been rising on the charts for a few years now. And our son will have my husband’s incredibly common last name, so we care that it isn’t *too* common but we looked at not just what’s popular but how popular it really is.

We found out that the most common names have been getting less common over time, so like, when dad mom was born in 1966, the most common names were Michael (4.4%, so 1/22 boys) and Lisa (3.2%, 1/31 girls). When I was born in 1991, the top names were Michael (2.8%, 1/35) and Ashley (2%, 1/50). In contrast, in 2021, 1% of baby boys were named Noah, and 1.1% had the top name, Liam. That’s closer to the proportions that the 20th most popular name (Jonathan) had in 1991, and means that while it’s possible your kid could be Noah A. in his elementary school class, it’s not as likely as you having had an Ashley A and Ashley B in yours (if you’re around my age). And the numbers vary by state, so Noah may be less popular in your area.
  • @angbaby83 did you tell your work you got the email? How awkward but sweet of them!!
  • @seeds_of_joy my manager realized it. She sent another email out letting us know it went to everyone.  So now it’s just a joke around the office.  She told me it was today but I finally had to ask what time it was since no one told me that lol 😂
  • @elmich3 I vote Everly because it was on my list but my husband didn't care for it that much.

@itsjess627 My baby shower isn't until the end of the month.  I'll be 36 weeks.  I'm new to this so I had no clue if this was too late or not. lol

@ttc3y I love the Beatles!  My parents got me the 2 of the Lego sets that you can create which ever Beatle you want (I did Ringo and George) and we are going to hang them in the baby's room.  I got these before I was pregnant but just didn't have anywhere to put them.

@seeds_of_joy I hate those goblins!  The worst are the Costco goblins.  The minute you find something you really like they are gone the next time you go.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 34+4

Baby is the size of a(n): Celery or a Windows 95 box

    Team blue/pink/green: Pink

Upcoming Appointments: Friday the 20th (Hopefully)

How are you feeling?: A lot of back pain the last 4 days.  I think it's partially stress because it's not in the same spot it has been.  Which is making it feel worse than it probably is because I was getting used to the other spot.

Rants/Raves: Rave - My parents are currently on a flight here!  It's a one-way ticket (they have their own apartment now) so they will be here indefinitely.

Rant - Still dealing with insurance issues, hence the appointment.

    Questions: None

GTKY: if it was karaoke night, what would you sing? If I got wasted, since that is they only way I would get up and sing, I would probably sing something 90s/00s R&B.  Like Keyshia Cole or Tamia.  Because I would be wasted I would be convinced that I could hit those notes. LOL

  • @angbaby83 I become much more of a recluse after each baby lol! It's nice to have help but I get very overwhelmed and emotional with others in my -space-. I've never had visitors at the hospital due to first baby in NICU, second I was sick with a stomach bug in labor lol and third was COVID. I'm much more into voicing my need for space, or rather my husband voicing my need for space, after we get home. My parents see the baby right away because they have our kids while we are gone but I usually take at least 4 days or so of no one or just meal drop offs if someone wants. Any visitors maybe a week later, and my husband gently shows them out after 15 minutes lol I used to have no boundaries because I'm a people pleaser but I think this is my last baby and I want to be comfortable this time. No more trying to find clothes to put on while I'm bleeding everywhere and trying to get a good latch while family decides to drop by unannounced for an hour. I broke down crying last baby, not again lol.
  • @elmich3 makes sense to me. When my first was born, my MIL and my parents thought it was a good idea to wait in the waiting room while I was pushing (which took 2 hours) and they could hear me. We never invited them that I can remember. It was really awkward because my MIL dragged my husband's brother with.
  • @lucygracelaluz2020, I have no idea how to pass the time gracefully, but I feel you. I’m counting down the days at this point and am hoping he makes an early entrance!

@bbd2023, I like the name Noah. A few other names that were on my list and that I think go well with Nicholas are Elliot, Greyson, Reid, and Felix.

@amccurls, are you feeling any better now?

@elmich3, both names sound lovely. Personally, I prefer Reese Everly, but you can’t go wrong with either.

@angbaby83, I’m being induced on 2/2 most likely. I asked my family not to fly out until March. I’d like to have some time to recover and to develop our own family habits before people try to tell us what to do. Lol. I might regret my decision, but we will see. My husband’s parents are local, so I’m having a harder time asking them to wait. We told them that we don’t want visitors at the hospital or at the house when we return. They won’t be staying with us, so maybe they can visit after a week or two.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 36 weeks tomorrow

Baby is the size of a(n): Papaya

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue 💙

Upcoming Appointments: Friday for an NST and regular checkup.

How are you feeling?: Ugh. The pain in my pelvis is insane. I’m limping constantly. I’m eating so much now! I feel like I’ve gained 10 pounds in the past two weeks. 😬 I’m tired all the time.

Rants/Raves: Work had not gone smoothly since the new year. I’m just trying to make it through the next 2.5 weeks. My rave is that I went to a hip hop dance class on Saturday after skipping the full month of December. However, I was so sore afterward. I’m trying to decide if it’s worth going again this weekend.

    Questions: Natm

GTKY: if it was karaoke night, what would you sing? Never! I would never sing karaoke even if I was totally drunk. I have a terrible voice and don’t like to draw attention to myself. 😂

  • @karbaud way to go for keeping up on your dancing! You amaze me!! Your answer was so similar to the answer in my head for karaoke. I was thinking, "I never even got the urge to torture people in that way when I was young and stupid drunk".
  • @kamays54 with my daughter my baby shower was planned at a little over 35 weeks. I ended up delivering on that day instead lol.

@karbaud that’s awesome that you are still able to dance. I’m old and out of shape so that probably is mostly my problem but I can barely walk without getting winded…

and thanks for sharing about your visitor plans. I think it’s wise to give yourself some space to figure things out.  But it is hard when people are also wanting to see the baby.

@elmich3 I’m a people pleaser too. With my first all my husbands family showed up at the hospital and it was so overwhelming.  With the second it was Covid and it was much nicer because no one came but then both my mom and dad and mother in law were there when we came home and it was too much.  I gently told my husband that can’t happen with this one and if I had to choose I want my mom there. My mother in law is not the most helpful.
  • @karbaud I am feeling better. Thank you for asking!

We had lots of visitors with my first as well. They weren’t able to stay long though because I didn’t get to my room until an hour before visiting hours were over. Then my aunt came to visit at our house the next week and I actually appreciated it because she brought dinner, did my dishes, and let me take a 2 hour nap.
My in-laws will be coming to keep my son. They’ll probably stay with us for a couple days and then get a hotel or something nearby. I’m pretty sure they plan to stay a while. But I have fantastic in-laws so I don’t mind.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 35W2D today 👍

Baby is the size of a(n): Bunch of carrots- I’m thinking a BIG, fluffy bunch, lol 🥕

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: I had an appointment this morning for a weekly check in. Next week I start doing NSTs as well- it’s getting busy!!!

How are you feeling?: Uncomfortable mostly. Sleeping is getting more painful each day (night, whatever) as I lay on my side pretty hard. I’m stressing a bit, too, because we have our rental lease coming up to renew and we’re still trying to figure out our permanent job situation. We’re unfortunately included in the tech layoff group, and it’s a little crazy right now.

Rants/Raves: Rant- see job/rental thing above. There are so many people on the job hunt right now, it’s crazy. People hiring keep putting you through the wringer as far as interviews go, too. I’ve had to jump through so many hoops and yet, here I am, still looking. 🤦‍♀️ Rant- does anybody else ever feel like you’re competing with your significant other on discomfort? I swear, I mention something about feeling tired or sore, and almost every time my husband feels inclined to say some “me, too!” statement. I appreciate that he’s tired from working out, but it just isn’t the same as being 35 weeks pregnant. Rave- our little family has been so supportive of each other through this job search struggle. I just love my husband and kids so much, I want to bring this new little boy into a safe and secure home. It’s been hard trying to wait for offices to resume following the holidays.

Questions: I was able to grab my hospital grade breast pump through Kaiser. Has anybody else used an Ameda Mya Joy PLUS before? I’ve never had great luck with breast pumps, but hopefully that will be different this time!!

GTKY: if it was karaoke night, what would you sing? Oh, boy, vocal performance was my original major in school, so this question is right up my alley! I love karaoke. Some of my go to songs are “Dead or Alive” and other classic rock style songs, and my girls love my Disney Princess songs like “Part of Your World”. My karaoke catalog is quite large, lol 😂

  • @cpk3535 I heard that people like the ameda Mya better than the ameda pump they gave when I had my daughter. That one sucked so I just ended up buying a spectra and then skipping getting a pump with my son.  It’s hard to know because people respond so differently to pumps. 🤷🏻‍♀️

sorry you’re having so much stress with job and housing. That’s how I was feeling when my son was born.  Hoping things get better soon!!
