Keeping baby from crying being laid down

Greetings everyone, and Congratulations! 
I had a baby Jan 2022, and I live in a cold climate. 
When I would lay my baby down to sleep, despite the house feeling warm to me, as soon as my baby laid in the bassinet he would startle awake and there goes my sleep!!! 
Frustration!!!  
So, I tried something I read online, which was to lay a heating pad briefly and on a low setting face down where you'll later place the baby. 

The baby gets so warm being snuggled and then the bassinet may as well be an ice block! 
I placed it down before feeding and then by the time it came to laying him down, I used my semi-free hand to pull it up by the cord and move it away, then place my baby down and he began to remain asleep!! 

So, if you also live in a colder climate and your baby awakes being placed in the bassinet, I suggest this as it has helped me greatly! 

(I wrote this now because at 10 months this just happened again! He was asleep, I placed him in the crib, and he shot his eyes open as it is much colder than mommy's arms! So I held him until he fell back asleep and did the same trick. It may never get old)
