Re: Weekly Check-in 01/03

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 28+3 (always feel like I’m bringing up the rear here!)

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

Baby is the size of a(n): length of one of those creepy black and white cat clocks (thanks Babylist for the weird comparison items)

    Team blue/pink/green: Green

Upcoming Appointments: Thursday for glucose and to see NP

How are you feeling?: Sore. Really sore. Ribs and pelvis hurt, heartburn, all the things. I think I’ll just be miserable from here in out.

Rants/Raves: My friend decided to have a dinner/sprinkle for me next month. She’s just one of those extra party planning types and I’m just so shocked to have any party and thankful we may get a few small items. I’m not one to expect any gifts so I actually had to make a real registry and she yelled at me to “beef it up” after I sent the link. 🤣

Questions: is anyone doing PT for pelvic pain? I’m wondering if that’s my next step.

GTKY: What's your favorite way of killing time when you're not working (aside from social media)? I don’t have much bandwidth these days between work and kids but I have been into random documentaries lately.

Baby is the size of a(n): zucchini

    Team blue/pink/green: pink

    Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow

How are you feeling?: so tired but not sick and I’m only in pain at the end of the day so I’ll take it.

Rants/Raves: Got furniture back where it goes and trim boards up in all the rooms. But still need railing and stairs done and the nursery put together.

    Questions: can’t think of anything

GTKY: What's your favorite way of killing time when you're not working (aside from social media)? Reading or video gaming. I just got the sims4 because it’s free and I’m obsessed now.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 30w6d | March 9

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a(n): zucchini, tho I gotta say the daily size approximations change wildly. 15.5” is not the same as zuccchini or a paper towel tube. 😂

    Team blue/pink/green:girl

Upcoming Appointments: midwife checkin tomorrow and 32 week growth scan on Monday

How are you feeling?:  Good, constantly tired. Heartburn at the moment. Feeling a little whiplash realizing that next week I’m 32 weeks and holy SHIT time is flying because at latest this kid arrives at 39 weeks.

Rants/Raves: Rave: Two new hires started on my team today and after 10 days off work I successfully rolled through the first day back. Rant: I feel like I’ve run a marathon after this first day back 😂

    Questions: na

GTKY: What's your favorite way of killing time when you're not working (aside from social media)?  I love playing Sudoku!
  • @Wishilivedinflorida that's so nice of your friend to throw a party for you! I haven't done PT for my pelvic pain but my personal trainer has added exercises in my workouts for it and they seem to really be helping. I do want to go to PT after baby is born.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: March 19 29w2d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a(n): Acorn squash

    Team blue/pink/green: Girl

Upcoming Appointments: Chiro and midwife in 2 weeks.

How are you feeling?: The insomnia has kicked in and it sucks. Pelvic girdle pain also sucks. Other than that good!

Rants/Raves: Rant: My sisters wedding is Saturday. My mom had to ask today what time it's at because all she told people was that it's on Saturday. You would think that she would have that together 3.5 days before the wedding
Rave: I worked out today! I'm proud haha I also already started working on taxes for this year which I'm super proud of. We own 7 rental units so it takes me some time to put everything together for our accountant. I'm determined to be ready to submit once we get our govt documents.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What's your favorite way of killing time when you're not working (aside from social media)? Lately, all I have energy for us reading. I love painting and making art but my brain isn't there to be that creative lately.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 32w0d, feb 28 (this feels so close!)

    FTM/STM/TTM+: baby #4

Baby is the size of a(n): a bento box

    Team blue/pink/green: pink

Upcoming Appointments: midwife in a few weeks

    How are you feeling?: exhausted.

Rants/Raves: rant: I am so exhausted today. Feeling really useless.
Rave: my husband is such a champ at picking up my slack when I’m struggling (anemia this pregnancy has been really rough, so these days are more often than I’d like). He just does what’s needed without complaint and I couldn’t appreciate it more.

    Questions:

GTKY: What's your favorite way of killing time when you're not working (aside from social media)? I’ve gotten really into knitting lately - I’m halfway through making the baby blanket for baby girl, then I’ll return to the sweater I’ve been working on for 8 months now 😅
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: March 7, 31weeks

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Baby is the size of a(n): coconut/asparagus

    Team blue/pink/green: Pink

    Upcoming Appointments: OB next Thursday

How are you feeling?: Large! My belly has been aching the last few days, and my RL has been a pain when lie down.

Rants/Raves: School started back up today…I’m happy it did, but at the same time I wish I could rest more 🥲

Questions: Anyone ever passed their glucose test but then failed one later on? I’m measuring 3 weeks ahead and worried that I developed GD, even though I passed it at 24 weeks.

GTKY: What's your favorite way of killing time when you're not working (aside from social media)?

    Hiking! Or baking 😂
  • @shorty-sar we had PD today and start with kids tomorrow. Not sure I’m ready 🤣

    EDD / Weeks + Days: March 5; 31w2d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a(n): Baby could fit on a small FedEx box lol

    Team blue/pink/green: 💙

Upcoming Appointments: next Wednesday for growth scan & 32 week appointment. I can’t believe I’m at my 2 week appointments now 😳

How are you feeling?: terrible pelvic pain in my crotch area. Sounds like a lot of us are looking into PT after baby is born! Otherwise I’m just feeling tired and heavy.

Rants/Raves: I’ve had terrible insomnia every night this week. It’s like clockwork at 3 AM I get up to pee and take an antacid because of my terrible reflux and then I’m up until after 4. Also kids come back to school tomorrow and it’s going to be a lot of reteaching routines and rules because, well, kindergarten 😵‍💫

Questions: anyone else nesting yet? It hit me hard this weekend

GTKY: What's your favorite way of killing time when you're not working (aside from social media)? Reading, doing puzzles. Sewing when I have fabric or the energy/inspiration
  • @mamahosch omg yes. I’ve been nesting for weeks now. I can’t stop cleaning, organizing, purchasing things.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: March 21st / 29 weeks

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Baby is the size of a(n): acorn squash

    Team blue/pink/green: blue

Upcoming Appointments: just did a growth scan a few days ago. Next I have to schedule my 3 hr glucose test - waiting for my new insurance card first though

How are you feeling?: I’ve been taking things a little slower and my hips and pelvis have been hurting less. I’m having a big hormone swing going on right now though - weepy and anxious. My cousin had a very traumatic birth a couple weeks before I found out I was pregnant and I’m now in an anxiety spiral about birth and worrying if baby will be okay. Meanwhile 3 of my friends had perfectly healthy babies and “normal” birth experiences over Christmas/new years so I need to keep reassuring myself that it will be fine.

Rants/Raves: rant - back at work and have a client who I told that I’m having a baby in March and will not be able to do his bookkeeping for an extra month and he was a total jerk about it so that was a kind of sucky way to start the new year.
Rave - this whole pregnancy my husband has been a little creeped out about baby and now at night he likes to reach over to feel him kicking and it’s just really cute. I think he’s super ready to be a dad now that he can feel that there’s a real baby in there.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What's your favorite way of killing time when you're not working (aside from social media)? Reading and puzzling. I do play a lot of video games and board/card games with my husband. Just got this new board game - Cartographers - for Christmas and I’m a bit obsessed.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 28.5 weeks
@Wishilivedinflorida Bringing up the rear with you!

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a(n): head of lettuce

    Team blue/pink/green: pink!

Upcoming Appointments: Friday for 28 week appt

How are you feeling?: Eh. I get hip/leg pain if I do too much. Some days are better than others. Also starting to wake up multiple times a night because it's hard to get comfortable.

Rants/Raves: Can't think of anything specific. We had a good last couple days of break and yesterday was a decent return to work. It's just going to be a long, busy week.

    Questions:

GTKY: What's your favorite way of killing time when you're not working (aside from social media)? Knitting while watching youtube/TV. I'm almost done with the last of the holiday knitting (just need to do the toe on an Xmas sock), and then I can start a baby sweater in a gorgeous green for this March baby. I'm also 3/4 of the way done with her baby blanket.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: March 2 / 31w6d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Baby is the size of an: Asparagus

    Team blue/pink/green: Pink

    Upcoming Appointments: Jan 16

How are you feeling?: Super tired today, overall not too bad. It feels like my BH are near constant. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this yet (I may have missed it), but I started noticing nipple discharge on Sunday. It feels like final mammal mode, unlocked, lol.

Rants/Raves: Rant: Still very behind on getting/researching baby stuff. Rave: It looks like one of my sisters is going to send down her daughters' baby clothes, and probably way more than I even need. So grateful.

Questions: I found out last week that baby's currently frank breech. Anyone else have experience with babies being born in that position, or just breech in general? @heytallmama - I saw from searching in the group that your daughter was born breech, right? Did you know that in advance?

GTKY: What's your favorite way of killing time when you're not working (aside from social media)? Reading
  • @missmuisq my babies haven’t been born breech but mine tend to flip flop around ALOT the last weeks. Like every other appointment they’d be in a different position to the point I did get worried my DS would be breech only to have him get in the right direction at 37 weeks. Your little one will likely have plenty of time to get in position. But definitely get all the information you can about breech birth just in case ☺️
  • Ok, I have found a specific rave. Effective today (4 Jan), my work is increasing its maternity leave policy from 12 weeks to 18 weeks!! *happy dance*
  • @missmuisq That’s right! She was breech and I was losing fluid (had no clue). I found that out only because of the ultrasound and then they scheduled my c section for the next day. Like @TortugaAzul, she had been changing position a lot- I was only 37 weeks at the time so had I not been losing fluid it’s likely she could have flipped if she’d stayed in there longer.
  • @TortugaAzul @heytallmama Thank you both for sharing!

I found a lot of info online about ways to try to flip a breech baby / encourage them to do so, but it seemed a little stressful/obsessive to me and a bit too much woo for my taste (words like "luscious" and "yummy" to describe relaxation techniques and movements on the Spinning Babies website also just didn't quite vibe with me). And I'm not going to try for an ECV.

If baby's comfortable how she is, good for her and we'll figure it out. But let's see if she flip flops anyway
  • @missmuisq um, what? 🤣 That would creep me out too.
  • Lol I cannot even imagine the context of “yummy” and “luscious” being used when describing flipping baby?!? Please, I need details 😂😂
  • @missmuisq all 3 of my kids were breech at various times, and all came out head first in the end. My midwife for my second recommended doing pelvic tilts (link below) and lots of downward dog. Not sure if it helped or not but it was far less hippy-dippy than what you were reading 😂

    https://mybabymanual.co.uk/pregnancy/trimester-3/week-31/preparing-for-labour-with-pelvic-tilts/amp/
  • I should have added my kids all hang out breech/transverse for a while and so far 2/3 turned head down just fine. I think it only becomes an issue around 36 weeks + when they run out of room.
  • Ask and you shall receive!
The Jiggle is one of the most luscious relaxation techniques when done with presence. There is a quality of the touch that invites trust ... Be mindful of how the receiver of this yummy jiggle is positioned. They are lying on their side.
I don't want to bash women who try these techniques or the website itself--from what I could tell, it's very popular. I get that lots of women are way less chill about having a potentially avoidable C-section than I am. As I've shared before, I'm just not fully on board with all the hard-core "natural" birth ideology out there. Descriptions like the ones above, though, almost make me tempted to try this much-vaunted "Jiggle"!

@muggsd Thanks! I'll try that. Hippy-dippy in the literal sense as well!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: I’ll be getting induced Feb 21!!! Can try to naturally go into labour as of Feb 14! I’m 31 weeks and 4 days right now

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Baby is the size of a(n): foam finger lol

    Team blue/pink/green: BLUE

Upcoming Appointments: Jan 25- NST and Maternity dr

How are you feeling?: gestational diabetes is driving me insane. Soon as I think I’ve got a handle on it, my numbers all go up.

Rants/Raves: rant- gestational diabetes RAVE- got my blood work back and hopefully now qualify for an iron transfusion. I’m hopeful it’ll make me feel more human

    Questions: nothing right now

GTKY: What's your favorite way of killing time when you're not working (aside from social media)? Right now it’s watching Sister Wives or doing some grocery shopping in hopes I’ll find something diabetes friendly that satisfies a craving lol a girl can dream haha
