Self-checking

How do you know where your cervix is? I wanna self-check but scared to hit the wrong spot but really curious and wanna learn for myself.

Re: Self-checking

  • I usually see cervix condition on antenatal care report in hospital

  • I watch my doctor when he measures my belly at visits and feel from there. If you make baby uncomfortable she/he will let you know by moving around.
  • Your vagina is just a tube that ends at the cervix. As long as you wash your hands thoroughly and rinse them well before you try to find it you should be fine- the only thing inside your vagina is the walls of the vagina and your cervix is at the end. I would suggest doing this in the shower, and also know that you may not be able to feel it just due to the size of your belly and the location of your cervix. Use your middle finger as it's the longest and if you have any chance at feeling it that's your best bet. I wouldn't suggest doing this often, or at all if your mucus plug has came out. Every time something goes into the vagina you're introducing germs/bacteria and if the mucus plug is gone you risk giving the baby an infection. Also make sure your nails are smooth and clean so you don't nick yourself internally. Good luck and I hope you find what you're looking for :)
