1st Trimester

Bleeding at 5 weeks

I’m 5 weeks and 2 days… 18dp3dt. HCG at 10dpt was 415 and at 14dpt 2600. Everything looking good. I’m on PIO, endometrin suppositories and oral estrogen. Today I woke up with a partially soaked liner, bright red. Just before I had experienced a few sharp pangs of pain in my lower abdomen. Otherwise, just normal very mild cramping feeling. I’m bleeding, not super heavy, but enough to drip in toilet and to have a bright red swipe when I wipe. Has anyone experienced bleeding like that at this stage that did not result in miscarriage? I’m expecting the worst.

  • Have you had sex or internal exam?  If so you could have really irritated the cervix.  You could have an undiagnosed subchronic hematoma.  Just keep an eye on things.  If you start soaking a regular pad and get severe cramping then definately call your nurses line and let them know and get further instructions.

  • I have had bleeding that was from a subchorionic hematoma. I have also had hematomas that didn’t cause bleeding at all. I have had spotting that was mild and lasted a day that ended up being nothing. Honestly, there are many reasons why you can bleed in early pregnancy. Some resulting in nothing and others resulting in a loss. The only time I bled with cramps it led to a CP. I hope that’s not the case here. Have you called your provider? You should do that and see what they suggest doing. They may want you to do modified bedrest for a few days or come in for blood tests. Either way, they do need to know you’re bleeding.
