Step Parent Adoption

Hi I’m seeking some advice from someone who has already been through the process and can help me understand it better and how I go about making my husband my sons legal father.

    Went through one a few years ago. You do not need a lawyer so don’t let them convince you otherwise. Contact local adoption agencies, they can help you. Background checks, homestudies (ours was waived), notarized documents, we didn’t need permission from bio dad because it had been over a year, we did still have to formally/legally have him contacted if he wanted to attest it. Ask questions and seek out all resources. The paperwork was a lot but it’s doable! Good luck.
