Sugar & Breastfeeding

I am usually a very healthy person, however since starting my breastfeeding journey I am craving sugar much more than usual. Loving friends and family have sent so many cookies and other sweets to our home, and I haven’t thought twice about eating whatever I want.

I just had the thought of is this hurting baby somehow. Does sugar transfer through breast milk?

Your body digests the carbs you eat and utilizes those molecules accordingly. It’s not like the sugar you eat travels directly from the stomach to your milk in a higher concentration just because you eat some cookies. Breast milk is well balanced for what your infant needs. Enjoy your treats and just like everything else, practice moderation.
