Hi mamas,
Not pregnant at the moment, but I’m feeling a bit desperate here. I wanted to see if anyone can shed light on their experience using corticosteroid nasal sprays during pregnancy. I have non allergic rhinitis which causes my nasal lining to become so inflamed I can’t smell. What’s been helping a bit is Nasonex spray(mometasone) which brings down the inflammation. Im trying to get pregnant with our second kid but im terrified that usage of the sprays will have an impact on baby. My ENT said it should be fine but the info on the internet is conflicting. Not being able to smell and waking up feeling like I have a cold everyday is devastating. I’ve been off the sprays for a month and the symptoms have been terrible, nasal congestion, constant sneezing, inflammation to the point where I can’t smell anything. Anyhow, im not sure I could go through 9 months of this without some relief from nasal sprays if I were pregnant. Would appreciate any insight!
Re: Flonase, Nasonex, rhinocort (corticosteroid sprays) while pregnant
Honestly, I would think its fine. It was recommended for me during pregnancy.
