December Symptoms

Noticed we completely fell off on updating the symptoms thread along with the randoms thread each week 😂 so figured monthly is good enough anyways!

Re: December Symptoms

  • Oh yeah! Okay here’s my list 🙄
    Insomnia
    headaches
    crazy itchy legs
    yeast infection (just cleared up)
    nausea
    lightheadedness
my boobs are dying. So painful. I weaned my 2 year old a couple days before finding out I’m pregnant, and my milk hasn’t gone away yet. They’re so full and heavy it hurts like crazy. And the nipples hurt.

all the normal-peeing a ton, emotional, etc

I think that’s it? I keep realizing something that I have been feeling is a pregnancy symptom and I don’t even think of it!

  • Lol @annemarie96 same. I swear I forget I'm pregnant and I'm like damn, why am I not sleeping through the night/waking up every few hours? Oh that's right. I've also had headaches every day this week, the one I have currently is 30 hours strong at this point. And THE BOOBS. They are killing me. I haven't weaned DS2 yet, but he plays favorites and hasn't nursed on my left side in probably a full year. Well this week, my left boob has been SO painful, its basically engorged. My right boob is fine except my nipples are incredibly sensitive right now, it's giving me major nursing aversion. I immediately cut DS2 down to only nursing for 5 minutes right before bed instead of the (roughly) 5 mins first thing in the morning, 5 mins when I get home from work in the afternoon, and 5 mins at bedtime.
  • My boobs are definitely more sore now than ever.
I'm still cold nearly all the time,
Still have terrible morning sickness/all day sickness.
And the newest thing is I get migraines every day now, I definitely don't remember that happening with the other two, I'm hoping if I just up my water consumption and magnesium they'll get better.
  • I’m having a hard time eating. A lot of things really don’t sound good and most of the things that do have too many carbs. 😫 I didn’t have food aversions or cravings with the other two.
    Lilypie Maternity tickers
  • @pttomato I've very suddenly (in the last week or so) developed a strong aversion to sweet foods and its really thrown me for a loop. I also didn't have any real aversions with my other two. I guess it's a good thing in the end?? But even fruit at times is too sweet.
  • Oh goodness can't believe to be at 12 weeks now! My 1st pregnancy I had horrible all day sickness/nauseous...and for this one I haven't had that nearly as much thankfully. BUT to replace that...I have been so incredibly tired that if I sit down for more than a few minutes I am getting sleepy and passing out. For a night owl like myself it has been tough having my body wanting to sleep and rest all day every day! Boobs are definitely still very sensitive and sore which isn't horrible most the time until my son wants to hug and snuggle and I have to rearrange him lol. I also lost my appetite for a lot of things so been hard finding foods I want to eat...looking forward to that getting better and eating more things again.
  • @mamachang81 when I was pregnant with my second, I would fall asleep sitting up on the couch in the afternoons at the drop of a hat! That pregnancy was definitely my most sleepy.
  • I’m so glad I read these because MY BOOBS. They’re killing me.
  • Otherwise, I’m really not having a ton of symptoms. I’ve noticed I’m not as emotional this round as I was with my first.
  • I am so tired all the time still and started getting headaches towards the end of week 11 and they don’t go away… boob sensitivity seems to be going away, thank goodness! I also had a couple moments of dizziness luckily I was sitting down when it happened.

@thescarletmom send that sweets aversion my way!

@p@pttomato Nothing sounds good to me either! It’s making meal times really frustrating… I’m driving my husband nuts haha
  • @thescarletmom I’ve also had an aversion to sweets! So sad to be in the holiday season and rarely enjoy a treat.  I’ve been able to a couple times though. My normal self would be devouring it all.

@abilbro that’s funny, I was also noticing I’m not as emotional. The only thing I’ve cried over is not having the one thing that sounds good. Having really strong cravings and aversions and they make me crazy emotional. But with my boys I would be sooo annoyed with my husband constantly and just cry all the time about random things.
This ones a girl and I’m wondering if that’s why.
  • My legs are so itchy! I am sleeping terribly. I toss and turn all day and wake up to pee. Headaches like crazy, dizziness frequently, and I'm so hungry nonstop. I constantly seem to want something to eat, yet I'm nauseous and still throwing up. I just feel like I'm so uncomfortable
  • I'm trying to think if I've ever had an aversion to sweet things, I get terrible aversion to ice cream every time and with my son I remember I'd feel sick if I had a sweet snack without having any protein, so dessert was fine but if I had a doughnut for breakfast I had to pair it with some salty protein. This time I've been craving doughnuts and fruit smoothies and even though I never eat candy ever ever all of a sudden I've developed a taste for smoothie skittles 🙈
No aversions to it yet but I'd be way healthier if I had one 😬
I think my migraines are from my one wisdom tooth growing in, extra magnesium and water aren't touching them and from experience it would if they were hormonal or from dehydration and I've noticed the past few days whenever my jaw starts to feel stiff the migraines start. Which sucks because I can't get my wisdom tooth pulled while I'm pregnant.
  • @kalesix3 I get the ice cream aversion too.. I think because it’s just so sweet. For me if I want sweets while pregnant it has to be tart.. like cherry pie or sour gummy worms.. I was like that with my other pregnancies too.
  • @francesgs okay, sour sweets sound amazing!! 😍
  • My sleep is still not great and the bloating/gassiness is still a lot to deal with but the headaches and breast tenderness seem to be gone the last few weeks. I threw up so suddenly and violently this morning that I popped blood vessels in my face though. It was the first and only time I've thrown up this pregnancy and I haven't really been having any issues with nausea the last couple weeks or so aside from that so I still consider myself lucky as far as symptoms overall -- but, wow!?! Did that ever catch me off guard 😅
  • Oh hello, feeling like I'm going to faint. Literally sitting here eating my salad for lunch, minding my own business, and all of a sudden it's dizziness, shaking, and feeling faint. What! Not cool at all. I have to go take a final in an hour and I'm terrified to drive the five minutes from my office to campus.
  • @kalesix3 skittles and starbursts have been my absolute jam! I never ate candy like that before either- I have always preferred chocolate. For whatever reason I’ve had an aversion to anything chocolate and just want fruity candies.
  • @thescarletmom I hope you’re feeling better and we’re able to take your final. 😞
  • All of the sudden strawberries are the most delicious thing in the world to me. I could eat an entire container in one sitting!! I'll take that as a craving in comparison to the raspberry sundaes from Culver's I've had so much of lately.
  • I've been on a deli sandwich kick for like two weeks! (I'm pescatarian, so no deli meat) It's literally one of the only 'meals' I want to eat right now. I've been going to the grocery store at like 9:30 am after I drop my daughter off at preschool to get one, then I eat half for breakfast and the other half for lunch. I can't stop. I guess it could be worse ☺️
  • Anybody else nesting suddenly? I'm sure it's a least a little bit related to the holiday and new stuff in the house, but over the weekend I suddenly felt a deep and intense need to scrub my entire house room by room. The kitchen is the first victim and I started last night cleaning as many things as I could before getting out of breath. I'm sitting at work trying to get stuff done on my computer and feel like I'm physically vibrating from the restless need to go home and keep cleaning
  • @thescarletmom that hasn’t truly hit me yet, but I do keep thinking I want to scrub the bathtub weekly to keep up on it super well since I miiiiiight have the baby in it? Can’t stop thinking about how gross that would be at the moment, and I feel like I need to scrub it a thousand times before I’d ever give birth in it. Probably will just rent the birthing tub!!

But this also makes me realize again that this is the first time I’m having a baby when we have our own semi-permanent home…..the nesting is going to feel completely different this time. I can feel it already. Can’t wait for that feeling of having a baby and knowing we’ll be here 2+ years still. 😍😍😍😍😍
  • I wish I was nesting! I just keep trying to sneak in naps
  • I desperately want to nest and I think a large part of it is related to the holidays too, but I can't because I know we won't be here when the baby is born, I also have this restless need to pack up everything and organize every space in the house. I'm just glad I got off my thyroid meds so I can actually have some energy and not be a mindless zombie everyday.
Maybe that's why I've been shopping for baby items so much lately, it gives me anything to do to feel more prepared because the rest of my life is kind of a mess 🙃
@annemarie96 I can't wait to be where you are!!
  • I think a large part of my issue is my thyroid levels being off again. I need yet another adjustment. Plus the cold weather and the fact that it's dark by 430 isn't helpful. I really need to purge my house but I can hardly stay awake in the evenings
  • @hitcj4687 oh no thyroid levels screw up energy levels so badly it's insane.

I thought morning sickness was getting better but yesterday I threw up my breakfast and today it was my lunch.
  • @kalesix3 Aw, I am so sorry. Having congestion has really prolonged nausea for me. Coughing and feeling everything going down the back of my throat makes me puke almost every day now and I had almost stopped! But most of the time it’s first thing in the morning and I’m really thankful for that!!!
  • Does anyone else have sub clinical hyperthyroidism? My TSH is only .007 and the lowest it’s supposed to go was like 3 I believe. Freaked me out.
But thankfully the T3 and T4 aren’t high, so that’s when it actually gets dangerous for baby. So I’m just trying to eat the right foods and be aware of it and we’ll keep monitoring it.
But I’m curious how much of this extreme fatigue I’ve been feeling is low TSH, because that’s a symptom of it being low.
But also it could totally just be pregnancy. 🤣
  • @annemarie96 I flip flop between hypo and hyper and I also have an auto immune disorder.  Unfortunately I also had cancer and had to have my entire thyroid removed so I just rely on medications to keep me functional. I have tried to do anti inflammatory "diets" and it works wonders for me however they're so hard to stick to and I struggle to keep on it. But I do suggest giving that a try if you can! It can be super dangerous both pregnant and not pregnant. But if your doctors are aware and keeping an eye on it and you're keeping up with blood work, I wouldn't stress too much!
  • @annemarie96 I hope we're both out of the woods with nausea and vomiting soon, I think coughing would be an absolute nightmare for me too, ugh I'm glad you feel better now.
Do you mean TSH is supposed to be 0.3 ? I was only sub clinical hypo, not hyper but everything I've heard makes it sound like the extreme fatigue is a side effect. Ugh I'm sorry, medication isn't helping? I definitely still feel pregnancy fatigue since I got off my medication and my TSH leveled out, but when I was on it and my levels were higher I felt fatigue on a debilitating level, I don't think that much fatigue is supposed to be normal unfortunately. I hope your levels even out to a healthier range.
  • @kalesix3 @annemarie96 I didn't know mild congestion was a somewhat common pregnancy, and it was annoying but I couldn't tell that it was making a big difference in my nausea/vomiting early on. The entire month of December my congestion was way worse (probably seasonal) and the last week I've had a cough. Blowing my nose makes me vomit 🤢 and so does the coughing and post nasal drip. I'm rarely feeling nauseated anymore but puke probably 2-3x a day the last two weeks because of it! It is do irritating!

@kalesix3 I was looking into SPD after you mentioned it and I think that is for sure what's going on, and the pain has ramped up. Yesterday I woke up with the pelvic pain and corresponding lower back pain that was so intense. Thankfully DH gave me a really good lower back massage for like 15 minutes and it did WONDERS, I felt so much better the rest of the day.
  • @kalesix3 yeah, definitely meant to say .3 lol
Haven't ever been on meds for it and just found out a couple weeks ago. But from what I’ve seen the meds for hyperthyroidism are nooooot safe for pregnancy, even by a lot of doctors standards, not from a crunchy point of view at all. 🤣
So doctor’s recommend them if it becomes actual hyperthyroidism, but not for us clinical. It’s not worth the risk. So I’m definitely just doing diet and stuff for now, as much as possible. It’s not dangerous at all at the stage it is, but I’m nervous about it getting worse. We’ll see. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • @thescarletmom that’s me! I think my nausea might be 100% gone now if I weren’t coughing! Which is huge progress and it’s awesome, but so annoying to be puking when I’m not dealing with actual nausea
