We had an over the shoulder from Target last time, but I think I want a book bag style this time.

For the last kid we started with an over the shoulder bag, but switched to a backpack option. Much more convenient to carry around IMO, especially if you want to keep hands free to carry kid and other items.

I’d like to third the recommendation for a backpack diaper bag. It’s worked really well for us. My husband actually requested it because he wanted a bag that wasn’t too “girly” in case he was carrying it, which he does often.

Another vote for backpack styles! We had an over the shoulder tote at first and it was so cumbersome. The backpack is much easier.

Agreed on the backpack! This is the one we have. The front pocket is a mini-cooler that can hold three bottles/sippy cups. One of the side pockets has a slot to pull out baby wipes. It's sturdy without being boxy and holds a lot of stuff!
The only downside is that since the top expands, you can't zip it with one hand. The back pocket is convenient for taking out stuff at the bottom or storing a Medela pump, but if you have a Spectra pump, it will be a bit awkward to store because a Spectra is round.

Echoing the backpack. We actually have 2. The one we registered for and then we got one as a gift after DS1 was born. They're both pretty gender neutral so DH carries both. I nannied for a bit in college and they only had the over the shoulder ones, and I hate it. I ended up using a college bookbag.

@gingermama46 That's the bag I registered for! I'm a FTM so I don't have much experience but I'm leaning towards the backpack style for convenience and the husband to use also.
