Ughhhhhh. I took a sick day today to finish recuperating ALONE at home from the yuck that I can’t shake. Sike- kiddo woke up with swollen eyes and a fever. Guess we’ll be heading to the pediatrician again this morning.
@ashleyp625 Oh man, what a rough couple weeks. Hope your husband has a speedy recovery! @maelove I forgot to create one, so feel free to start it! PSA to everyone: please feel free to create the weekly/monthly threads if I forget I haven't been doing GTKYs because we usually cover that in the weekly check-ins, and UO and FFFC can get redundant after a while. But if anyone wants to start them again, go ahead!
I just clicked on someone's user name and their profile said 'banned" in a tiny red banner at the top.... Does this mean they are literally banned from the forum? Just curious... and how does that happen? 😄
@radioactivet@cait32 I saw that happen to two people on our BMB who only posted once, and they weren't even spammy posts. (I think one of them replied to a symptoms thread and another one replied to eating thread.) I have no clue what they could have done to get banned so quickly...
Any readers out there? I’m in a book slump and need a good one- I’m partial to psych thrillers/mystery but I’ll read anything! I just read the first series Karin slaughter did (grant county) and I was left with a yuck feeling. I literally hated the end of the series. In fact I’ve never hated an ending so much. I need a recovery read!
@maelove I've been reading The Midwife's Revolt by Jodi Daynard. It's a historical fiction set during the Revolutionary War, about a (fictitious) midwife who is friends with Abigail Adams. I chose it because I wanted something different and I like it so far! The last book I finished, though, was The Colorado Kid by Stephen King. It's a murder mystery and King's shortest novel, but it could have been shorter if the two main characters didn't needlessly mansplain everything to their colleague. The ending was left way too open for a supposed whodunit. (Spoiler alert: they basically shrug and insinuate that weird things happen in this town.) Needless to say, I didn't like it. I put Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver on my Christmas list this year. She is one of my favorite authors and this novel takes place in an Appalachian town that is highly affected by the opioid crisis.
@maelove Anxious People by Frederik Backman is fun. I recently finished Project Hail Mary (same author as The Martian) and LOVED it - if you're into super nerdy space stuff lol. Billy Summers by Stephen King was good, more thriller style. The Paradox Hotel was also fun - time-traveling, mystery, thriller all in one! I have many more recos if anyone ever needs any - books are my life!
@maelove that is too funny on the wine, because I got some NA wine last Wednesday and loved it! The merlot at least, the chardonnay tasted like juice.
I just finished a Colleen Hoover book, it was meh. I am also reading a book called First Born that is really good so far. Before that I finished The Family Upstairs, that was awesome, very twisty turny!
@maelove I’ve been reading a bunch of series lately. They’re all a bit spicy, which I’m not really sure how that happened as that’s not usually what I go for! The Bridgerton series, Outlander series, and A Court of Thorns and Roses series are all in my rotation right now as they become available at the library.
I’ll echo Anxious People, that one was really good! I really loved All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Derr. It’s a long one that takes place in France and Germany in WWII.
Oh thanks team for pulling through! I added those I haven't read yet to my list!
@BourbonBiscuits I haven't read that but looks like its by Anthony Derr which is the same author as All the Light We cannot see which I absolutely loved (holler @courtney701)
@gingermama46 I had a cab maybe I will have to try the merlot!
My favorite recent book has been Remarkably Bright Creatures. It was one of those that I was ehh about before, but I LOVED it unexpectedly. Thriller wise, I typically like Sally Hepworth and Lisa jewell’s work.
I am dreading when I have to wear maternity pants to work, which will be soon because only one pair of jeans barely fit right now. With DS2 so many people trying to touch my stomach (you'd think since I was the one who did harassment training they'd avoid that, but no such luck) and the comments about if I was sure it was just the 1 because it looked like I was pregnant with twins. No thank you
@gingermama same re: one pair of pants… I’m on to leggings now and not looking forward to it being obvious at work haha. Just told my chair this morning and he was super supportive at least!
And what’s up with people commenting on bodies?!? It’s never okay… pregnant or not doh!
Is anyone else having what feels like mini Braxton Hicks already? I’m only 16 weeks….my mom swears she had them super early with her fourth kid, but I had to come here to ask!
@ktmaesim I would speak with your doctor. Could be Braxton hicks, could be round ligament pain. I have history of preterm labor and my doctor told me to give a call if I get 4 contractions in 2 hour period. If they are consistent please give a call to your doctor. I am 16w4d and have had a few contractions already. Take it easy when you feel them and drink water.
