  • @nonlinear_function I think that would be such a neat experience for her! My former coworker is pregnant and took her 2 daughters with her to the ultrasound (ages 7 and 9) and they loved being able to see their baby brother
  • @nonlinear_function I haven’t (my son is also 3 so same situation as you), but I remember going with my mom when she was pregnant with my sister who is 6 years younger than me and my brother who is 10 years younger. I remember it vividly and loved it. I think it would be a great experience for your daughter!

  • @nonlinear_function not really helpful  but our Mfm doesn't allow anyone under 18 and only 1 support person is allowed at ultrasounds :(  I definitely don't think I would bring my daughter, but she is only (almost) 4, so a little younger and also has the attention span of a rock, so.... 😆
  • Insomnia over here.  I am having so much trouble falling asleep.  I have been in bed since 10.

I think part of it is nerves for tomorrow's scan.  Just worried we will get bad news.  I feel like i did a pretty decent job trying not to let it get to me since the doc didn't seem too concerned, but tonight I think it's all finally catching up to me.  Happy I get to see baby again, but bracing for bad news (just in case).  Blegh.
  • @scaredunprepared I’m sorry, I’d be worried too. It’s impossible not to worry even if the doctors aren’t and the odds are good. Hope you manage to sleep soon, I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow!

We ended up with an unexpected snow storm today, it’s still coming down hard with no end in sight. It’s really local as well, I’m north of Seattle and Seattle proper has rain. I keep seeing green flashes in the sky, apparently it’s transformers blowing. Yikes! We still have power, hoping it stays that way…

  • @maggied26 I'm a night owl so I'm usually up late! Despite having an early start job, ha. Since being in vacation mode my schedule is completely out of whack, and I'm on the west coast, so you might catch me here at all sorts of hours :#

  • @etnyah thank you :)  Still up, but trying to distract myself with pinterest lol.  That storm sounds scary but also kind of fun.  We love snow, as long as we have power!  I hope yours stays on!

@maggied26 aw your poor daughter and husband.  I hope you manage to stay healthy!  I always end up getting sick if my kids get something.  Somehow my hubby dodges almost everything (except this last bug that's really lingering in both of us).
  • @nonlinear_function I think I would be fine to take a 6 year old but I would definitely not take my son who will be 3 in February.
@scaredunprepared good luck at your appointment today.
@etnyah that’s a wild sounding storm. CO snow is usually light and fluffy but in the spring we usually get at least one wet snow storm that tears town tree branches and leaves people without power. I was hoping for a snow day yesterday but no luck.
@maggied26 I hope you manage to stay healthy! This cold season has been kicking our butts.
  • @etnyah did you end up losing power last night? We had a crazy rainstorm, it must have blown one of our doors open bc I woke up at 3am with my 3 legged barn cat snuggling me in bed lol

@maggied26 I hope you're spared from the illness and hopefully it passes through the rest of your house quickly!
  • @iiirene it was pretty wild! I’ve never seen snow here this early. It stopped sometime during the night and now it’s all melting!

@nsk489 we kept our power, thankfully! And we didn’t get much wind, other places did though. That is too cute about your kitty lol.

  • @iiirene thank you.  The appointment didn't go quite as I hoped it would, but I was bracing for the bad news.  The worst part is that I need to wait a week for answers!
  • @scaredunprepared I’m so sorry that you’re still having to wait for answers!
  • @etnyah my colleague who's up in Monroe, WA posted some "winter wonderland" photos this morning. Alas, I was once in Seattle during a snowstorm and I was in awe at the sheer unpreparedness of the city (as a Canadian from the east coast), so I can understand how scare it must be.

We had ground frost here this morning; I think the only thing that keeps the snow away is the salty air since we're right by the ocean. It'll be raining here tomorrow and I guess it might snow a bit inland.

  • @scaredunprepared I read that on the ultrasound thread. So sorry you have to keep waiting for answers. A week during pregnancy can feel like an eternity.

@acleverusername I didn’t know salt air can prevent snow. Interesting!

@acleverusername it definitely looked like a winter wonderland! A little more soggy now. And yep, the whole area grinds to a halt with just a whisper of snow. I’m used to it now, but my dad who is still visiting (from Norway) is pretty amused. This is nothing!

We had a full-on snow day today, no school and I’m off work still since my dad is still here. Here’s a photo of my dad, husband and son having a blast before it got too melty! Hitting snow balls with a bat, lol.

  • @etnyah how fun 3 generations playing in the snow!!!!  We get snow days like that for almost no snow here on the East coast too.  Pretty funny.  By the end of winter we have no snow days left so we end up going in when there is ACTUAL snow 🤦‍♀️

@nonlinear_function that's awesome!  So glad the US went well and that your daughter was so into it.  I would think that's a pretty neat experience for her to get to see her sibling before actually getting to meet them!
  • Okay, I'm going to vent: My 16 month old and I almost certainly have RSV. 😞 We have both been sick for a few days. I thought it was just a cold and we were getting better, but it's been a lot slower to improve than a typical cold. Then this morning I found out that my husband's cousin's baby was hospitalized with RSV a few days ago. (She's out now and doing okay) She was snotty when we saw her last Saturday, but her parents told us she's allergic to a specific tree in Texas and always gets better when she goes home, so I wasn't worried. I kept telling my husband that this is the worst cold I've ever had. Now it makes sense why I can't kick it.
  • @shoogapoff ugh that's so frustrating! I hope you're both better soon, and heal at home on your own!
  • @shoogapoff argh! So frustrating! I keep hearing of stories of other parents not sharing that their kids are sick before meeting up! What is up with that? I mean, I get that it sucks when you have travel plans that could be impacted with illness but little people’s lives are at stake here!

  • @shoogapoff frustrating!!!  I would assume they didn't realize it was rsv?  Otherwise that's messed up!  My MIL pulls the "I'm not sick it's just allergies" card all the time and I'm so over it!
  • @acleverusername @scaredunprepared I think they truly thought it was allergies, so I shouldn't be mad. But it's just messed with a lot of things. I took 2 days off of work (unpaid), which was stressful. And my sister and her family were supposed to stay with us on their way through town tonight, but they decided against it because they have a 5 month old and don't want to risk exposure. So now they have to figure out alternate lodging plans, plus I don't get to see them. 😒 And I had to back out of my work Christmas party, which was a murder mystery party. I had an important role, and made some other people have to scramble to fill my spot. Oh well. First world problems. Thankfully we seem to be getting a little better, so there's that.
  • @shoogapoff well that's understandable.  It still stinks and is super inconvenient for you :(  Glad you all seem to be on the mend, though!
