Weekly Randoms November 28th

Happy Monday, only two months or less left until these babies arrive!  Add your random thoughts and questions here.

GTKY: What were/are you shopping for on Black Friday and Cyber Monday?  Any good deals on baby stuff?

Re: Weekly Randoms November 28th

  • Happy Monday!  We have a winter storm happening in central Alberta right now so I'm stuck working-from-home.  I worked from home a couple of days last week too and then was home all weekend so I'm starting to go a little stir crazy.  At least my husband was able to take our son to school today (he was also home last week due to illness).  We're all getting a little too much of each other 🙄

Even though this is our second, we still had to buy all the baby stuff since our first is 10 years old and #2 was a surprise.  We tried to get the bulk of the things we'd need a few months ago though so that we wouldn't be forking over money for that and Christmas at the same time.  So no Black Friday or Cyber Monday baby deals for me.  We only have a few things left to get so we're hoping for some good Boxing Day sales to finish up.  None of the stuff we want to buy for Christmas seems to be on sale right now either which is kind of a bummer.

  • Happy Monday! Getting out of bed was rough this morning after a long weekend of socializing and overeating.

I did quite a bit of shopping this weekend. We got a Ruggable for nursery with 20% off, some baby items from Caden Lane for 25% off for birth announcement, and I got hospital bag attire from Kindred Bravely with 35% off. We also did some Christmas shopping for family from Vuori and REI. Felling really good about getting some of this stuff out of the way and with a discount as we get closer to due date!

One of the moms in my the group I am part of with my midwife team had her baby and suddenly it feels very real!
  • We’re not historically big BF/CM shoppers, but we went out Friday for a (much needed!) new dishwasher. I did also grab our boy a swing that was on sale today. He’s got just about everything he could need at this point I think!

Anyone else having issues with stiff or tender hands? Today I woke up and could hardly close my right hand. It got a bit better after moving around and flexing my fingers a while, but geez it’s anxiety inducing to have so much joint pain.
  • Definitely hard to be motivated to work after a long weekend and now three weeks of work left this year.  We got our tree and decorations up this weekend though, so I am motivated for the holidays!

I looked for deals, but there really wasn't much from our mini registry that went on sale. Target, HA, and amazon have had lots of clothing deals but I don't need baby clothes!
  • @cc_clark definitely see a chiro or massage therapist now before baby comes! Hand and wrist issues will only amplify once you’re holding a newborn constantly! I had “mommy wrist” with my first and it was AWFUL I needed help with like anything that needed to be lifted! I felt it coming on again and my chiro has been using shock therapy on my tendons near my elbows etc and it’s been so much better!
  • Reminder that the Facebook migration is happening in 3 days! Don’t worry if you want to join in after or are having a hard time getting in I will still be checking my inbox on here periodically over the next few weeks! Don’t want any mommas to miss out on a virtual village!
  • For mamas with big kids too what are you doing in terms of gifts? I want to get this little baby a gift from her big brother and I want to get big brother a gift from her but not sure what I wanna do yet lol
  • @thankfullyamama I'm currently thinking big picks out a stuffed animal for little, and little gives big either a stuffed animal or an activity set (like Legos, or arts and crafts). Thanks for the reminder though, I should have that set before Christmas.
  • For Black Friday I mostly picked up a bunch of nursing bras and clothes from Kindred Bravely and Ingrid and Isabella.  I also got a few minor things from my Amazon and Target registries that went on sale for more then what the completion discount will be.  My big purchase was a rocker/recliner from La-z-boy.  It was a little more then we had originally planned on spending but will last much longer and was on sale for a pretty good deal so we decided it was worth it.  Other then that we already have a lot left over from my son so we really didn’t need much even though I was tempted by a few of the deals.

As for toys for my son, I’m honestly not sure what we are going to be doing for him this year.  He already has so many toys and there just isn’t much that’s age appropriate for him that he doesn’t already have something similar.  I’m thinking it will be a smaller Christmas for us this year.
  • The Facebook group is active as of tomorrow! I will be checking back here periodically to see if anyone else wants to join (if you do just send me a personal message on here!) but I will primarily be active in the group as I just find FB to be much more user friendly!
