1st Trimester

Unplanned/Doesn’t Feel Real

This was very unexpected and unplanned. Have first appointment on 12/15. Tested positive 10 days ago, but still doesn’t feel real
Side Note: in a healthy relationship for about a decade, both in our mid-30s with okay jobs (pay not great, but pensions and benefits)
Haven’t really discussed it. Will reality set in when we see the first ultrasound?

Re: Unplanned/Doesn’t Feel Real

  • It wasn’t really “real” for me during my whole pregnancy honestly. It takes a while for it to hit while you’re pregnant that you’ll have another addition to the family, but it could take even longer to feel that YOU’RE the one making it all happen.

  • Omg I'm with you. My husband and I were going start trying in January, both mid 30s also and completely surprised and shocked. My first appointment is 12/7 and I'm on week 7. I found out a few days before my missed period with a few first response tests. Are you having any pregnancy feelings: stomach pulling, cramping, etc? I've experienced a few and nausea but no actual throwing up.
  • Same. No throwing up. Little nausea and cramping, but nothing that i would find out of the ordinary. Also, some days feeling extra horny out of nowhere 🤦🏼‍♀️
  • I’m in the same boat. Wasn’t trying to get pregnant and tracked my cycle with LH to intentionally avoid it. I had a perfect 27/28d cycle for 2 years, wasn’t in my predicted fertility window when I conceived, but intuitively knew I was pregnant at 3w and started testing immediately. Popped positive at 3w2d and have continued for the past 3 days. A happy accident but still reeling from the shock. My husband and I have a very unconventional relationship— we’ve been married for 5 years but we live in different cities 90m away and generally function more like very close friends. Despite us not appearing like a typical married couple, he is my life partner and I wouldn’t want to co-parent with anyone but him.

Still 100% doesn’t feel real yet, but it’s all I’ve been able to think about!
  • Same! Mid 30s. Tested positive for Covid and was so sick I took a test on a whim and it was another positive. I am really struggling with all of the symptoms. Low energy. Nausea. Fever. The whole gambit. Had to tell a few people early because I’m feeling so terribly. Covid = No appointment for 14 days. Any suggestions??
