How are you feeling?: slowly feeling better each week. Still days of dizziness and exhaustion, but the food aversions are getting better.
Rants/Raves: I set some boundaries with a toxic family member earlier this year, and I reached out to share the news of my pregnancy. It opened up a lot of wounds and the conversation was very difficult/painful, as they likely won’t be in the life of me or my baby, at least for awhile. Hard stuff to face, especially around the holidays.
Questions: anyone else having trouble with weight gain or have tips? I’m struggling to eat enough to put on any extra weight.
GTKY: Happy Thanksgiving week! What are you thankful for this year? So thankful for the love and support of many family members during this season of life. Also very thankful for a healthy pregnancy so far.
I’m not really gaining either- hopefully it’s an okay amount. They haven’t said anything to me yet. I struggle so much with snacks- I’m not really a snacker, and this potential GD has me almost worried to eat anything for fear of how it’ll affect me.

    Team blue/pink/green: green
Upcoming Appointments: nothing exciting for a while
How are you feeling?: Like my bedtime could be 5 PM every night. Too bad my three year old doesn’t go to bed until 8! 😅
Rants/Raves: Starting to spread the word at work that I’m pregnant and while my boss is supportive (as expected), I’m worried about some crankier coworkers since taking a maternity leave is going to strain our schedule.
    Questions: none
GTKY: Happy Thanksgiving week! What are you thankful for this year? Family, health, having a job at all

@fvera88 You’re only expected to gain about 10 lbs by 20 weeks, and most of that can happen between 15-20 weeks. Last pregnancy I was right at 10 lbs weight gain at 20 weeks and then by the end had gained 45, that second half of pregnancy is really where all the weight gain’s at. 😅 I’m 3 lbs up now and that’s about where I was last time. If you’re not too limited by nausea and you’re not losing weight, it’s normal for things to be pretty stable in the first half. Following your hunger cues is probably the best thing to do. You can try adding a little extra butter or oil to meals (either while cooking or drizzle over the top of completed dishes), add a tablespoon or two of peanut butter to snacks, and add those meal replacement shakes like Ensure with your regular meals (not in place of them) (watch out for their vitamin contents though, which may duplicate your prenatal vitamin). But, truly a stable weight is pretty normal especially for first trimester.

Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan is 12/15!
How are you feeling?: Not bad. I think I had some sort of allergy attack yesterday but I'm getting over it now. Other that, like my normal self but with a belly :)
Rants/Raves: We are almost done renovating our kitchen! I think the last piece we want to do before Thanksgiving is replace the faucet. But so far since this summer we've redone the floors, refinished the cabinets, added new cabinet hardware, new backsplash, and painted the walls.
    Questions: nope
GTKY: Happy Thanksgiving week! What are you thankful for this year? My hardworking husband, holiday-loving daughter, a stable job, my home, and a strong "village" to lean on.

How are you feeling?: Nausea is coming and go more, so not as frequent which is nice. But, half of the family has colds and I am part of that half haha.
Rants/Raves: I don't really have anything for either, just looking forward to the long weekend!
    Questions: NATM
GTKY: Happy Thanksgiving week! What are you thankful for this year? Getting to spend so much time with the family this year.

    Team blue/pink/green: blue
Upcoming Appointments: had one today, next is 11/29
How are you feeling?: semi decent today
Rants/Raves: I crave a certain salad from a place that is 45 minutes away and my husband got a tub of the dressing so I can make it at home and not spend $15 on a salad all the time. I can’t eat much due to food aversions so this has us both happy.
    Questions: none
GTKY: Happy Thanksgiving week! What are you thankful for this year? My family and not having to cook, my in-laws are taking over this time 🙏🏻 I can’t stand the smell of meat cooking and a few other things.
  • @fvera88 I’ve been struggling with weight gain as well. I lost 5lbs in the first trimester being so sick. You can always try smoothies with added protein or collagen (I often do unflavored collagen because it doesn’t add taste to make me sick). It’s a struggle even today, hang in there you are doing the best you can.

If your eating and it’s only a bite that’s ok. As long as your trying. My doctor hasn’t pressured to make me gain yet but suggest the smoothies and capitalize on the safe foods for you when you can eat. You got this, your body has got this.
  • Thanks for the reply @krb99 - I appreciate your suggestions and will probably start adding those items to my diet on a more regular basis. I just never feel hungry or food makes me feel so nauseated, so I have lost weight since I became pregnant. I’ve basically had to force myself to eat a lot of the time, which was super hard during the first trimester with so many food aversions. But now that the aversions are starting to subside, I’m hopeful it will make eating a little bit easier and the appetite will return. Fingers crossed!

How are you feeling?: Overall I would say improved but still the nausea and fatigue can suck it.
Rants/Raves: Holidays are fun and bring a lot of joy for sure....but man does it stress me out traveling with 3.5 kids trying to fit in both my and DH's family. I need to learn to say no.
    Questions: none right now
GTKY: Happy Thanksgiving week! What are you thankful for this year? Thankful for healthy kids and a healthy pregnancy so far. Also thankful for all the food I will eat over these next couple days. Despite the nausea, I have had no issues eating phew :)
