Flu during pregnancy- help!

Hey friends! First time mom here. I was wondering if anyone has gotten the flu during a pregnancy- what are the risks? Does this affect baby? My husband is running a 102 fever- I am so worried I will catch the flu. We have been trying to keep our distance but there is only so much you can do living together. Help- I’m stressed !

Re: Flu during pregnancy- help!

  • There’s a lot you can do. My husband also has the flu right now. Isolate him from you, wear masks if you *have* to be around each other, and wash hands/surfaces frequently. Do not share a bed.

The main risk of flu to the baby is the fever portion, which should be controlled with Tylenol and cooling measures. Beyond this, you yourself are higher risk for severe disease because you are pregnant. Hopefully you have been vaccinated, so that even if you develop the flu, it is milder than it could be. Also, Tamiflu is ok to use during pregnancy and can shorten the duration of symptoms if you do get it. Good luck and I hope you stay well and your husband is back to being healthy soon!
