Re: Symptoms Thread: November

  • Literally just burping constantly. It's horrifying. I can't tell it's coming either and it just bubbles up through my throat and I'm like "oh shit here it comes" and I can't stop it  :s

  • @BourbonBiscuits I've been burping a ton too. My husband thinks it a lot funnier than I do!
  • Meeeee threeeee on the burping.
  • Aanndd there's the nausea. That placenta must be doing some serious work today because I am ILL.

This is called "reverse hiccups". It is usually caused by coughing and is caused by a spasm of the diaphragm. The diaphragm is a muscle that separates the chest and the abdominal cavity. The diaphragm is the main muscle of breathing and it moves downwards to initiate breathing and then moves upwards to stop breathing.  Due to the different pressure caused by the movement of the diaphragm during the breathing cycle, the abdominal organs can sometimes be displaced upwards. This is what causes the burping.  The best treatment for this condition is to get the patient to lie flat on his back and wait for the hiccups to stop.  Once the hiccups have stopped, the patient should get up slowly.

I've only been wicked sick and puking twice so far, but bc the foods I ate were poor those particular times. Im 14 weeks today!! My exhaustions pretty much gone, ive been more productive and less sleepy lately, I can eat p much anything now. I have really bad hip pains, and like that's really the only negative symptom I can think of lol, guess I handle a boy better than girls 🤷‍♀️ just been relaxed 90% of the time so far.

Just soaking in pregnancy and really getting to know my body this time around. My first two I couldn't relax and life was rough. It's really nice to be able to just enjoy pregnancy even the not so good days, and be able to get to know how to take care of myself since this is the first time I've been able to!! 💝
  • I started shivering uncontrollably in the middle of the night even though I didn't physically feel cold or sick. This is gonna be a long winter  :/
  • Soooo I’m 13 weeks today and feeling pulls and twinges in the center of my abdomen/uterus. They started this morning and it’s been a few hours now. They’re intermittent, lasting 1-2 seconds each. The other day it was pulling in my groin (round ligament maybe)? Any other mamas feeling this? When should we be concerned? (No bleeding or anything - I’m extra vigilant because I lost a previous pregnancy 😅) Thanks!!

Today I cried happy tears because I actually felt close to normal. I hope that at 14w2d I am out of the nausea misery. You guys, that sh*t is hard. Please please let it be over.

@acamomma18 sounds like round ligament pain and totally normal to me (I am not your OB though so don’t put too much weigh into what I say! You know your body best)
  • @maelove thanks! I just went in for a heartbeat check this morning and OB concurred - sounds like natural growing pains from my uterus! So nothing to be concerned about. 😅
  • @acamomma18 oh I’m glad to hear that!! Hope that makes you feel much better!
  • 16 weeks and the headaches are brutal! Nausea and fatigue is gone though
  • The nausea has gotten better so my midwife has me weaning off the unisom, only taking it every other night for a little bit. I realize that without it, I sleep like absolute trash and my anxiety makes it impossible to go back to sleep when I get up to pee at night when I don’t take it. When I take it, I sleep really well, actively dreaming, not zonked, and wake up feeling great. But when I don’t it’s like I’m just skimming sleep all night and my brain goes from 0 to 60 with racing thoughts as soon as I wake up during the night. I end up feeling miserable all day after that. I’ve always struggled with my anxiety but it’s definitely ramped up since becoming pregnant. I know sleep can be tough with positioning it it’s such a dramatic difference for me. Anyone else going through anything like this?
  • @bunniecee yes. I’ve been trying to wean off of it as well and I thought I was just taking for nausea but realize now it was really helping with sleep!
  • @cait32 I haven’t considered that, I’m just going by what the midwife recommended at my last visit but I’m going to message them about that, thank you.

@maelove I know I wasn’t a terrific deep sleeper before pregnancy but getting enough good quality sleep is such a game changer right now! My anxiety is much more manageable when I’ve had a good night’s sleep
  • @bunniecee I’ve slept like trash since about week 7/8. I fall asleep fine, but once I wake up to use the bathroom, it’s game over. I simply cannot stay asleep for any length of time from about 1-5am.  :|  For me it’s not so much anxiety (for once in my life lol) I am just wide awake.

My provider suggested taking unisom a couple weeks ago when I finally complained about it and it’s been helping enough to make falling/staying asleep easier in the wee hours. Without it, forget it.

I low key hate taking it every night simply because I have always been such a good sleeper. I kept hoping that as the hormones evened out, I’d go back to normal, but no luck!
  • Has anyone experienced PGP/SPD?

I'm 15 weeks with #2 and been experiencing pain in the pelvic area when I walk. It is worse when I carry my toddler on my right hip or walk up stairs. It's not painful all of the time but has been worse the past 2 days.

I plan on talking to my physician at my appointment next Monday but wanted to see if anyone has experienced this.
  • @cait32 I'm right there with you. I swear the nausea was better by this time last pregnancy. I'm still taking unisom/b6 but I'm no longer convinced it's actually doing anything other than helping with sleep.
  • @cait32 @abjm0325 -- Add me to the list of people still feeling bad. I'm right at 15 wks and keep hoping things will improve. I've had weekly migraines since Sept, and the most recent one that I have now has stuck around for 14 days straight (except one day of reprieve in the middle). Along with general, constant nausea, I still have episodes of intractable vomiting when I can't even keep down water. Most recently, this happened yesterday! And then last week for the same reason, I went to the ER for IVs. Trying to eat well and stay hydrated has not been easy or even possible most days.

It does make me feel less isolated to hear that I'm not the only one still struggling despite the promises of the second trimester........
  • @cait32 still sick over here as well. I cried the other day because I just want to feel normal. I had a good couple of days last week but over the weekend everything came back full swing and I feel super defeated. I was not sick with my first pregnancy and all symptoms resolved by week 12 with my second (twins). I don’t know what’s going on here and I am reassured y’all are feeling similar to be honest. I was beginning to wonder if something may be wrong.
  • My doctor prescribed bonjesta around 7weeks along with 8mg of Zofran. I was close to being diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum. But these 2 medicines helped me a bit. If anyone want to ask their doctor. My pharmacy hasn’t had the bonjesta so I’ve been coming back with nausea. I’ve only been taking the zofran which has helped some.
  • Between this cold and already having a weakened pelvic floor from my first pregnancy...let's just say I'm thankful for Poise pads this time of year  :| #tisthesneezin
  • @hestia-is-wearie you ain’t lyin’! For me it was the coughing 😬
  • I *love* feeling like I've been kicked in the vagina every time I stand for more than 15 minutes consecutively. Really goes over well when teaching a 75 minute class. Or, ya know, parenting my other three children.
  • @BourbonBiscuits I know the feeling!

My pubic bone has been aching lately which seems bizarre. Also pretty sure I had an orgasm in my sleep last night?!?! It’s happened a few times before. I don’t remember that side effect with baby number 1… not that I’m complaining 😆
  • Has anyone’s arms been hurting I’ll be 14 weeks tomorrow and lately I’ve been having arm pain im scheduled for a breast ultra sound in December but curious if anyone else has this symptom?
