  • Work! I haven't been this stressed about work in a LONG time 🙄 The contract that I was working under ended, so I had to move over to a new contract with a different company and this company is an absolute nightmare. I've offered suggestions and said I would be willing to help during the transition period, but they just keep doing what they want (which is horribly ineffective), and it's driving me nuts! This was a well oiled machine before they took over, and it's like they dismantled the whole factory on the first day and left the rubble behind. I hope this will only be temporary or else it's going to be one loooong year.
  • I played phone tag with the PA at my doctor’s office only to finally get a “your results were normal. You don’t have cholestasis.” Lady… I saw the results and knew that already but also… couldn’t you have sent me a SECURE PORTAL MESSAGE INSTEAD?!?

  • @acleverusername ugh! So frustrating!
  • @iiirene ugh that's annoying!  I am guilty of lying to my daughter sometimes to get her to move on from something, but usually I prefer to be honest about things if it's appropriate.  The constant quizzing definitely gets old quick, but maybe they are just impressed how smart he is and love being able to show it off?  My MIL did that with my daughter all the time.  She does it occasionally still, but definitely has calmed down.

@trubaby411 oh wow that sounds terrible.  I'm sorry.  I hope they get their sh*t together soon so you don't have to deal with this for a whole year!

@acleverusername wow they made you call back and forth just to tell you that????

@scaredunprepared oh yeah I tell those little lies when my kid is really freaking out but if he’s calm and just asking a question he usually reacts pretty well to reasonable requests/limits
  • Ugh I just tried to get my son in for his flu shot (bc the pediatrician didn't have them in yet at his last checkup). I was told I could just call and schedule a nurse visit for it, but the receptionist told me they're only doing them during flu clinics and the next one isn't until DECEMBER 28!!! Like what! I wanted it BEFORE we see his germ factory cousins at Christmas.
So now I have to take him to urgent care instead to get one, and since they are walk in only I have to hope the wait time isn't ridiculous 🙄 when I just called to check if they have shots for a kid under age 2, they said they are currently at a 3 hour wait!
  • @nsk489 wow that is messed up of your pediatrician to give you false information about flu shots.  They couldn't squeeze you in for one?  Seems unreasonable, especially if the next one isn't until after the holidays.  I'm sorry.

@etnyah lol at 2 middle aged men bickering at work over something dumb and insignificant.  I agree that the are most definitely the biggest hot-heads!

@iiirene have you talked to your husband about napping during flights and how it leaves you solely responsible?  That seems unfair.  I'm glad your son slept and hopefully you got a nap this time!
  • Alright ranting again bc we just finalized the rest of our Christmas travel and I was adding up the costs in my head and it pisses me off! Will be spending close to 5k when all is said and done (2 roundtrip plane tix, will have toddler sit in one of our laps, rental car, airport parking, plus paying our friend to farm sit for the holidays). This obviously doesn't include gifts or any expenses while we are there.
Originally MIL was flying with us both ways and said she would pay for the rental car, then she changed her mind about her travel days (will still overlap with us for most of the time, but now we are stuck paying for a car). Since she is staying longer now I'll also have to pick her up at the airport whenever she gets back, plus take care of her dog for the days she is gone.
DH and I both agreed this is the last year for awhile that we are traveling at Christmas, and refuse to go to NY again until his brothers come visit us first (we have lived here 3 years and they keep saying they're going to visit but then bail). They haven't even met our toddler yet 🙃
    /end rant
  • @nsk489 that is A LOT with a toddler on top of it!  Not fair you need to do the traveling when you have a kid and a farm (and a baby on the way).  Nevermind the expense!  We have made it pretty clear we aren't traveling more than a 2.5 hour car ride for holidays.  We have kids and dogs and it just isn't fair when others who basically have no responsibilities arent required to travel/don't make the effort.  FIL moved about 10 hours away when I was pregnant with our first.  We have yet to go there and it's been 4 years.  Sorry but you chose to go that far knowing we were starting a family, so that's on you!  He has a "nursery" and everything, I guess expecting we would be coming and staying frequently.  Yeah, not possible, sorry not sorry.
  • @scaredunprepared we have never lived in the same place as my husbands family (used to be a 5-8 hr car ride, depending on which brother we were visiting) and they have always expected US to visit THEM for holidays since they all stayed in their home state of NY. It's so annoying. They never wanted to visit us before bc they all had younger kids, so we did the drive and travel...now their kids are old enough that it wouldn't be as difficult, and they're still being a pain about it. I fully intend on letting them know how annoyed I am when I'm there lol.
Thankfully DH and I are on the same page regarding holidays going forward! We want our kids to wake up in their own beds on Christmas morning, you know? I don't mind traveling other times of the year when it's cheaper, if we are visiting people who also make the time/effort to come visit us (ex. My family and our friends have been great about it)
  • @nsk489 I’m glad you’re both on the same page about it! That sounds like an absolute pain. Especially if you always have to pay for it, that makes no sense and is pretty rude of them imo.

We have to travel to see my family and my dad pays a huge portion of the ticket price every time, and there’s no expectation of us coming, everyone’s just happy when we do. Some families are so entitled.

  • Not Monday, but still bitching

My district is still recovering from the cyber attack, and my patience is wearing thin. Due to the cyber attack, the district reset every students' password over night, so it was up to the 1st period teachers to have students sign on for the first time. They said they were going to put handouts in our mailboxes this morning, one for each kid with their new password. Except there was nothing in mine. The passwords are also available on SchoolTool, where we take attendance etc, but then you have to look them up individually. Fine, I did that, instead of getting everyone started on their work. The passwords used to be their birthday, so something like Feb152006. Now they are scrambles like spqiilK70! So really easy to explain to idiot kids who aren't awake yet.
Some woman from an office calls and scolds me for not picking up the papers. I explain that they weren't in my mailbox. She says they are in my coteacher's mailbox. I snap back that I am the classroom teacher, Ms Winters* is an every other day push in AIS teacher who has been on maternity leave since the second week of September and has a mailbox on the other side of the building.
"Well, that's where the papers are"
"Well, I have a class of students in front of me and no coteacher since September, so I can't exactly go get them right now."
Then she EMAILS A COPY TO ME.
As if that is going to be any different than looking them up on the very same computer. (I told her that's what I was doing before I hung up.)

My example wasn't long enough, some actual passwords that I had to dictate to students include bo4v8mjP2!,  wyf09hfX8!, and 4uu6lvbR6#. Not to be confused with "double u".
I swear some people go out of their way to make it harder at my job.
  • @nonlinear_function oh dear... that sounds like a rough day!

  • I have officially entered the “I pee a little when I cough or sneeze” phase of pregnancy. Sooo much earlier than with my son.
  • @nonlinear_function 🤯🤯🤯 *me reading about your day* I can't believe how rude the woman from the office was!
  • @nonlinear_function wow.  Just wow..... I'm so sorry!
  • @iiirene I feel like if I had been trying to get pregnant and paying attention, I would have noticed that this was my first pregnancy symptom this time!
  • @nonlinear_function That sounds like an absolute nightmare start to the day. I’m sure kids were waiting calmly and quietly while all of this was transpiring. 🙄
