What types of products did you find to be essential for baby bath time, and which are your fave brands?

What types of products are unessential, but you would recommend for bath time?

  • What types of products did you find to be essential for baby bath time, and which are your fave brands?
We had a baby bath tub on our registry that worked fine. I think the brand was Summer Infant. It fit in the sink and them could be placed in the tub and went from infant to toddler.
We also have a kneeling pad for my knees which we still use today.
As far as bath soaps-my son doesn’t have super sensitive skin so we can use pretty much anything. We have mainly used Aveeno and Pipette for shampoo/wash.

Someone got me this silicone fish shaped comb that was good at scrubbing off cradle cap. I love our bath mat. We got it at Walmart. It feels like a yoga mat. It’s a little hard to clean but I was so worried about my son falling backwards and bumping his head. I think everyone should have at least one hooded towel with a cute animal hood but we primarily use a regular size bath towel. We had a rubber duck that was also a thermometer. It was helpful to an extent but we quickly learned my son likes his baths in the warmer side and the duck would just beep to tell us the water was “too hot” so we quit using it.

  • STM:

Someone gave us one of those plush bath flowers for the sink, it worked really well except it obviously had to be dried in the dryer, and at the time we were in an apartment building with shared laundry facilities so that was a pain. We ended up getting another bath seat for the actual tub and it worked out really well. I can’t remember the brand. I actually think we’ll get another flower for the sink now that drying isn’t an issue, I really liked it!

Agree with @iiirene, a knee pad for when you use the tub instead of the sink is essential. Also essential is a faucet cover for when baby/toddler is older and wiggly and prone to bumping their head on it.

Shampoo-wise, we used whatever. Still do. No sensitive skin here, but my son’s skin has always been on the dry side so we only do baths once a week.

Non-essential: cute baby towels. Completely unnecessary but so ridiculously adorable.

  • Third time mom:

What types of products did you find to be essential for baby bath time, and which are your fave brands?   We used the bath flower for our first and LOVED IT.  Had planned to use it again for our second but misplaced it, so ended up using the angel care baby bath, and it worked great.  Found the bath flower now, so I wonder which we will use?  We definitely did not use our thermometer, so that was a waste lol.

What types of products are unessential, but you would recommend for bath time?  We STILL use hooded towels for our almost 4 year old.  They are great for babies/toddlers with lots of hair, which both of mine had/have.  And a mat for your knees for sure, like others suggested.  We still use ours.  We actually have 2 in case 1 is wet.
  • What types of products did you find to be essential for baby bath time, and which are your fave brands? We registered for a baby bath tub with my son. It's OXO tot brand, has a little plug on the bottom to drain it, folds up when not in use and also has a hook to hang it up. Too lazy to pull a link up but it's "Oxo Tot Splash & Store Bath Tub" for anyone that's interested. Also it was definitely not $70 at the time 😳 I really like it but I don't think it's worth $70!!

Once he got too big for that/could sit up unassisted, we just used a laundry basket in the bath tub lol. Works great and kept him contained until he was big enough to have free range of the whole tub.

Honestly I still don't have a "favorite" baby wash/shampoo. My son does seem to have slightly sensitive skin; we've tried a few different brands. Aveeno baby has probably worked the best for us.

Agree with others about a cushion/mat for your knees

I love the cute hooded towels but my son absolutely hates the hood 🤣🤣
A thermometer of some sort...I am terrible at gauging temp and always make it wayyy too hot. Our thermometer is a little stingray that blinks blue when the water is too cool, or red when too hot. Doubles as a toy 🤷‍♀️
Also, bath toys! Can be as simple as a cup or spatula, kids don't need anything fancy but love to play in the water. Prepare to get wet.

  • I really liked the Puj when DD was tiny.
