NTD risk- need reassurance!

Hello!

I think I’m around 6 wks pregnant with my third and I am so worried that this baby might have a NTD because I think I had a slight fever about a week ago.

My two older girls have RSV and I have a slight cough and sore throat for about 12 hrs (there at night and gone in the morning!), and I woke up feeing hot so I took an oral temp and it was reading right around 98 degrees but then I checked it with an ear thermometer and kept getting a reading between 100-102.5. I immediately took some Tylenol to bring it down if I truly did have a temp, but I can’t stop worrying if that reading was accurate and if I did have a fever. I know I’m right in the weeks that NTD do occur and my initial scan isn’t for a couple weeks. Any reassurance please! Or if anyone else had a similar situation I would love to hear.

  • Honestly, many women have fevers or are sick early in pregnancy and have normal outcomes - please try not to worry.  At your initial scan may not show anything, but the anatomy scan will be able to be more accurate.  If you are very concerned, you can call your doctor's nurses like and see what they suggest.
