    Team blue/pink/green: finding out 12/15
    Upcoming Appointments: telephone appt 11/17
How are you feeling?: Pretty good today. I had another nasty migraine on Friday and I was irrationally afraid I would have one today and not be able to celebrate Halloween with DD (who has been looking forward to this day since like...April). I'm definitely asking my doctor for medication recs so I can nip the next one in the bud.
Rants/Raves: Rave: our weather should be mild for trick-or-treating tonight! Rant: I don't know if I'll be able to stomach the chili that I made every year for our family Halloween party :(
Questions: Anyone have any good pregnancy-safe migraine remedies? I've heard that some triptans come in nasal spray, which I'd love to try. Swallowing pills sounds scary right now.
GTKY: Happy Halloween! What are your plans for today? Trick-or-treating with astronaut DD! We're also hosting both sets of grandparents for our annual Halloween party: pizza, chili, pumpkin pie, cupcakes. I went a little over the top this year :p

EDD / Weeks + Days: 9+3 - my EDD was moved to 6/2 but I'm not interested in leaving May 23
Baby is the size of a:
Team blue/pink/green: finding out - NIPT on Friday!
Upcoming Appointments: regular appt and NIPT draw on Friday - **TW** this is the appt when we found out about our MMC between #2 and #3, so I'm extra nervous about it, even though we saw a heartbeat last week **end TW**
How are you feeling?: anxious (see above) but otherwise not bad! Pretty exhausted still and nighttime nausea has shown up. I can't yawn without gagging which is delightful
Rants/Raves: My big kids have been talking a ton about their new baby, which is super sweet. I swear to god though if DD (3.5) asks one more time if the baby is coming today, I might lose it  :D
Questions: How long does it take to get NIPT back? We've never done genetic testing before so this is new territory for us!
GTKY: Happy Halloween! What are your plans for today? YAY! Big kids are dressed as Mario characters (Bowser, Princess Peach, and Mario) which is adorable. Our neighborhood has a cute parade every year before trick or treating, so we'll have my mom and sister over for chili and cornbread, then go to the parade, then trick or treat! I think this is the first year (esp with Covid years) that both my big kids understand Halloween, so they're PUMPED.

    EDD = May 16; 11wk6d
Baby is the size of a key lime
Team blue/pink/green: I had a dream it was a girl, but I truly wouldn't mind either way.
Upcoming Appointments: I just finished my 12 wk appointment with ultrasound and had blood drawn for NIPT. Everything looks normal for now.
How are you feeling?: Still feeling like 💩. Today I'm on what I hope is the tail end of a 5 day migraine.
Rants/Raves: I'm too tired to rant but my husband is a gem.
    Questions: None right now.
GTKY: Happy Halloween! What are your plans for today? Sleeeepppping.  I had originally planned a spooky potluck at work (with Halloween foods) but had to cancel it because someone else planned a potluck for the following week... Also it's for the best because I had a migraine all weekend and couldn't have made anything.

    Team blue/pink/green: finding out 12/22
    Upcoming Appointments: 11/15
How are you feeling?: Mostly fine! Heartburn from the dumbest things, but I’m a heartburn girly even when not pregnant haha
Rants/Raves: I am really over this insomnia. I’m functioning ok on the like 4-5 broken hours of sleep I do get a night, but will def be asking the midwife/doctor for recommendations at my next appointment. I was hoping once the hormones evened out it would get better, but no luck yet!
    Questions: none
GTKY: Happy Halloween! What are your plans for today? Just handing out candy. I am sooo ready for Halloween to be over! It is my absolute least favorite holiday and I’m sick of hearing about it. I do love to see the neighborhood kids in their costumes, though!
  • @hestia-is-wearie Are you on any migraine treatment already? I'm sure your reccomendations will vary, but today my doctor suggested a slight change in my approach,  starting 400 mg magnesium oxide (OTC) daily at night as a prophylaxis (in addition to metoprolol, which I already take) and then for acute therapy, a cocktail of 25 mg Benadryl + 1000 mg Tylenol + 10 mg Reglan (which is Rx metoclopramide).... Followed by triptans if the former meds don't work within an hour or so. Not going to lie.. that amount of Benadryl is too much for me to take and still function. 😴 But then again, I can't really function through these headachy anyway.

@BourbonBiscuits I got mine drawn today and, allegedly, it should be back in 5-7 days. 🤷‍♀️
  • @radioactivet I'm not on anything right now. That sounds like quite a cocktail of meds; I'm sorry to hear you're still not feeling well. :/ I've only had pregnancy migraines twice so far and the last one seemed completely spontaneous. I have no idea if they'll go away at the end of first tri or if I have to worry about them happening for the next 5.5 months :bawling:

Rants/Raves: I’m not ready for cold weather yet (live in the Rocky Mtns). I want it to still be warm for another few weeks.

    Questions: none right now

Rants/Raves: Fuck nausea. I really feel for all you ladies that have been dealing with it a bunch already
Questions: How do you survive between doctor appts? I want to see my baby every damn day!
GTKY: Happy Halloween! What are your plans for today? Literally laying on the couch trying to not be nauseous. Good thing I already ate a bunch of Halloween candy the past couple weeks lol.

Hey - It's great news that your brain is not adulterated by various pharmaceuticals right now! Haha. It means that you have a lot of tools to pull out the next time one of these pops up. In your shoes, I would definitely try the Tylenol + Benadryl combo and general migraine care including dark room rest, a little caffeine, and a cold gel pack. Depending on how bad they are, you might really consider the magnesium supplement as well. All of that stuff is OTC and generally considered safe for pregnancy.

A prescription anti nausea drug to use as needed can go a long way in helping you get the pills down during an attack, too, if that's necessary.

The triptans are honestly the only thing that works to actually eliminate my headaches -- even IV opioids administered at urgent care don't take care of these bastards 😵. I can tell you already that Imitrex (sumatriptan) is the triptan drug that's been around the longest and so the most pregnant people have taken that one over time (with respect to monitoring for effects on the baby). It is definitely a class C and should probs be avoided if any of the other less aggressive options actually work for you. I think it does come in a nasal spray though.

Sorry if this is TMI for the check-in thread. I've had migraines my whole life and have been reading a lot lately about my options for treatment/survival. 🙄
  • @radioactivet This is great information, thank you! I'm not typically a migraine person, so this is new territory for me. Before I got pregnant this time around, I'd only had two migraines, and they were triggered by an obvious combination of 1 glass of cheap wine + day 1 of period + weather changing to overcast. And neither of those were accompanied by nausea.
I'll call my provider back and ask him what he recommends, and I will definitely mention an anti-nausea drug to help me swallow pills if a migraine comes.

Upcoming Appointments: Next month sometime?? I am going to be bad at keeping track this time  now that we had our first appt and everything seemed good.
How are you feeling?: Ugh I am feeling discouraged because I am still so nauseous and tired. I was hoping it would be better by now. Its really getting old and I cant wait to feel a little normal.

    Questions:
GTKY: Happy Halloween! What are your plans for today? We did a pot luck with our neighbors (taco bar) and got a tractor to drive all the littles in to go trick or treating. It was fun!

Baby is the size of a: blop
    Team blue/pink/green: green
Upcoming Appointments: nothing exciting for a while
How are you feeling?: Better fatigue, although night shifts still knock me out (but they did pre-pregnancy too) 🤪. Better nausea and all hail the mighty zofran. I’m still pretty limited compared to baseline, but my husband literally did all the cooking and cleaning for a couple weeks there and it’s nice to be able to contribute to the household again.
Rants/Raves: Visiting family soon for the first time in years and I’m VERY excited.
    Questions: none
GTKY: Happy Halloween! What are your plans for today? I had to work Halloween, but have decorated, ate lots of candy, did a “boo at the zoo” thing, so I think I got as much out of the holiday as I could. Kinda excited to get Thanksgiving decorations out.

@hestia-is-wearie My daughter was also an astronaut! I don’t think you can do too much Halloween.
@BourbonBiscuits It depends what test/lab you use, if you’re in California they recently changed to a state lab doing NIPT, which is great because that means everyone can get it no insurance worries, but the change was *recent* recent which means kinks are still being worked out. The lab is done in like 10 days but the results are m a i l e d like with a stamp and then the doctors office has to review a paper and scan it into an electronic record…anyway so turnaround time is like 3-4 weeks right now on results.
I got mine drawn 10/23 and got a notice 11/1 that results were being mailed to my doctor, which I’m not sure is really a signal the lab has completed it or if they’re just letting me know results will be mailed because all results are mailed. 😅
Abnormal results are reviewed by someone in the state lab who tries to push those results out faster, so hearing nothing for a while is probably good. After four weeks I would worry the sample got lost in the new system though and I would put a little pressure on people to make sure your results exist.
  • @krb99 WOAH 4 weeks is a long time. I am not in California (Kentucky, so practically the opposite). It looks like my OB uses Prequel and it should be back in 7-10 days. My draw is tomorrow so not long!
  • Hopping in a little late this week!

    Upcoming Appointments: 11/10
How are you feeling?: I have had a rough week which is why I'm late checking in. I keep hoping the nausea and headaches are going to subside as I get closer to the end of the first semester, but no relief yet.
Rants/Raves: Just hoping to feel better soon! I miss doing all my normal things.
Questions: Is anyone here taking Zofran? My midwife is reluctant to prescribe in in the first trimester because of a slight increase chance of birth defects, but I am running out of other options to try. Trying to decide if it's worth trying.
GTKY: Happy Halloween! What are your plans for today? We hosted some family for a spaghetti dinner and went trick or treating!

Upcoming Appointments: 11/9 second ultrasound and bloodwork
How are you feeling?: energy is coming back and I don’t feel the need to nap every day anymore! Meat still makes me nauseous though
Rants/Raves: I am a physical trainer and I cant work out like I used to. My members don’t know I am pregnant yet, so I don’t want them to think I don’t care anymore
Questions: when is it bad to sleep on your stomach? I am a stomach sleeper and worried about hurting the baby
GTKY: Happy Halloween! What are your plans for today? Stayed at home :)
  • @kayla_scholze I think when I asked last time, they said it’s ok as long as it’s comfortable, but also wanting to check on that because I don’t sleep well on my side.
