Hi all,
I have a question. I want to pick your brains.
My husband and i have been trying to get pregnant for 10+years now. Well trying might be a strong word since ive never before kept track of my ov.
I started about 4 months ago. Tracking ov i mean. But i NEVER got a positive ov test. Not even a faint line. Nothing. Until this month.
I got a positive test on the 25th. So we went for it. So to speak. And today its still a positive test. I know its too early my period doesnt start till the 10th of nov. But i felt my ovulation on the 27th. The hpt was negative earlier. Obviously. And the ov test is still positive today. I dont get it. And i read somewhere that a ov test could possibly detect early pregnancy. Anyone have any experience??
Re: 5+ ov tests and still going
Second, if you've been trying* for 10+ years without success, it may be a good idea to see a fertility specialist to learn what is going on with your body. It's interesting that you went 4 months without getting a positive ovulation test... It makes me wonder if your cycles are regular, what brand test you're taking, at what point in your cycle you're using it, etc. Those issues may point to a particular reason why you're not getting a positive (maybe you're not ovulating, maybe the test isn't picking it up), but you really need a workup from a fertility specialist to get answers and develop a plan.
*ETA "trying" in the fertility world generally means having regular unprotected sex for 1 year or more if you're under 35 or 6 months or more if you're over 35. Whether you're using ovulation tests or tracking has no bearing, though some fertility specialists will see you with less than 1 year/6 months of trying if you are able to determine ovulation and TI isn't working.
Didnt get one positive test till now. And not im only getting positive tests for the past 5 days or so.
Thanks for your comment, Kim.
But you dont seem to wanna be helpfull here. You seem annoyed. And that wont help me. Thanks tho.
But thanks for the uneducated comment.
Very helpfull
What part of her response wasn't helpful? She gave you a very straightforward answer. And just because you read that ovulation tests can detect pregnancy doesn't mean it's true. I've read what you are referring to with the 2 hormones being similar but that is not a reliable way to test for pregnancy and should be disregarded.
I'm confused why you took an HPT only 3 days after ovulation. Of course it's going to be negative. The (hopefully) fertilized egg is still developing and working its way through the tube and into the uterus. Embryos don't implant until they are at least 5 days old.
What do you mean when you say "not even a faint line"? All ovulation tests will show 2 lines. An ovulation test is considered positive when the test line is as dark as or darker than the control line. They are not read the same as HPTs.
The only ovulation test that matters is the first one that is positive since it means you're having an LH surge. Additional positives don't mean anything. Only if they go negative and then positive again would that mean the first positive was a false surge.
