Re: Product Spotlight: Baby Apparel
I’m going to get some gender neutral newborn things, hopefully some or most second hand. I’m not going to buy a ton but we did give away most of our little baby stuff so we are starting from scratch.
Probably 5-10 onesies, same amount of zip up sleepers, and some gowns ahead of time. Then send DH for a Carters order when we know the sex, purely because there’s not much gender neutral stuff to choose from.
I may be in the minority, but sleep gowns are amazing when you are changing diapers MOTN for those first few months. You don’t even have to unzip, just pull up then down. Since my babies have loved swaddle sacks, their feet don’t get cold. The challenge is trying to find them in sizes bigger than NB or 0-3 (my babies start small/average then get huge fast). I also second zip (not snap—those are pure evil) sleepers.
Carters for convenience and cheap baby pricing. Target Cat and Jack is pretty awesome for price/quality. For special seasonal/holiday outfits I love GoodLad (can find them at Cracker Barrel and online). I’ve also had good luck with Kohls brand (the name escapes me now).
I have clothes from my daughter and my friend is sending me all her girl clothes so I'll be set. Mostly sleepers, onesies and stretchy pants for when she's young.
Zipper sleepers (buttons are the worst), onesies that you can pull down so you don't have to unbutton and pull over the head if they have a blow out. And stretchy pants. It wasn't until she started walking that I got into t-shirts, jeans and dresses.
Reversible zippered sleepers!
Is there an amount you plan on getting?
Probably around 10. It's enough for a week, including the inevitable blowouts. I don't change for spit up 😬
Around 3-6 months I start using onesies+pants, especially when they are more mobile. No dresses until they can walk.
Cloud Island from Target. I also like Just One You, Wonder Nation, and Garanimal from Walmart. I avoid Gerber because it runs tiny. Old Navy runs large.
