Baby is the size of a(n): Magic 8 ball

    Team blue/pink/green: Greeb

Upcoming Appointments: AS a week from today.

How are you feeling?: Had about 12 hours of spotting over the weekend that was unnerving but overall pretty mild. I’m hoping it was the rest of a tiny residual hematoma coming out or just stretching/cervical stress and not anything more. I’ll be interested to see where my placenta is next week.

Rants/Raves: I can feel baby move a lot more! I also made a fantastic dinner and desert last night (pasta with vodka sauce and shrimp and pumpkin cheesecake) and actually had energy to do it!

Today we go third row seating car shopping and I’m dreading it. Buttttt it’s necessary.

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: Since it's Haloween, what was your favorite costume you had as a kid?
For those that don't celebrate haloween, your fave costume from any event (comic cons, plays, etc..)

As a kid my favorite costume was a homemade scarecrow outfit that looked pretty legit with straw and everything. One year way back my friend also did sugar skull makeup on me and it turned out amazing. Unfortunately I don’t have a pic (this was pre-iPhone era).

  • @Wishilivedinflorida glad the bleeding stopped! And I had to do a double take on your food, I was like shrimp and pumpkin cheesecake, that's interesting 😂 and then I realized the shrimp was in the pasta which makes more sense haha. Baby brain. Yay for energy!!

EDD / Weeks + Days: March 19. 20w1d Half way!!

Baby is the size of a(n): banana

    Team blue/pink/green: Girl!

Upcoming Appointments: I have my group care appointment with my MW tomorrow which I'm excited about. I get to learn about all the things I forgot the first time around.

How are you feeling?: pretty good. Still getting the headachea but my acupuncturist gave me something to apply to my temples and neck that really helps.

Rants/Raves: Rave & rant I guess. We went to a Halloween party on Saturday. I'm normally in bed at 9 and Friday night my daughter and dog both woke me up so I was exhausted. I took a nap at the party at 930 😅

    Questions: none

GTKY: Since it's Haloween, what was your favorite costume you had as a kid?
For those that don't celebrate haloween, your fave costume from any event (comic cons, plays, etc..)

My pink power rangers outfit. My cousin and I would watch power Rangers together then act out the episode after while wearing our costumes.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: March 21st / 20 weeks tomorrow

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Baby is the size of a(n): sweet potato/ beanie baby

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan on Friday

How are you feeling?: I had some major debloating on Friday. Feels great but I can’t feel baby move now that my bump is so much smaller. He probably isn’t smashed into the side anymore. My stomach was so huge last week I didn’t know how it was going to continue to stretch to 40 weeks but feels way better now. Who knew walking and eating better would make me feel so much better? duh.

Rants/Raves: tax season is over and it’s been nonstop fun stuff this past week. We went on vacation for a few days - our hotel was ocean front and we woke up to hearing waves crashing every morning. So perfect. Then today we’re going to Disneyland for dinner and fireworks.

    Questions: none

GTKY: Since it's Haloween, what was your favorite costume you had as a kid?
For those that don't celebrate haloween, your fave costume from any event (comic cons, plays, etc..)

I was so scared of costumes and masks as a kid that I rarely trick or treated or even attended school on Halloween. My mom would let me stay home because I would be in full blown hysterics. I liked getting dressed up in my princess gowns to go to Disneyland though as a kid. We had a big costume rack in our play room. My sister always had awesome Halloween costumes though - one year she was a sunflower and my mom and grandma made the costume for her with a big sunflower crown, full body green suit and a pot on suspenders.
  • @marebear15 Oy. I feel your outing. I have been there with kids who were too whiny and not cooperative. Your costumes were adorable though!!

@miss_lynn9 I definitely didn’t word that clearly! Hahaha!

@disneybaby23 There have been moments at only 18-19 weeks (and third pregnancy to make it this far!) where I swore I can’t stretch more. But you somehow do. It’s insane. I’m glad you got a nice little vacation in!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 19.5 weeks

Baby is the size of a(n): mango

    Team blue/pink/green: green

Upcoming Appointments: My OB and I keep rescheduling on each other and she'sreally hard to get appointments for. Today I just rescheduled my 18-week checkup for 11/30 which will be 24 weeks. Because the AS can be done by anyone, it's safely scheduled for 11/9.

How are you feeling?: Still getting over this awful flu. On day 8 and still stuffy, mucus factory, sore throat, hoarse, etc.

Rants/Raves: Rave - only 2 more days and then my work schedule gets significantly easier. I can't wait! Rant - the guy I'm turning over all the work to is an enormous dick. I have to keep clenching my jaw to keep from blurting out things like, "You know this is YOUR job, right? I'm just the person who's been doing it for you for the last 3 months." Or, "Did you know that you are so bad at your job and such a douche to everyone around you that everyone from your subordinates through your boss has literally begged me to stay?"

    Questions:

GTKY: Since it's Haloween, what was your favorite costume you had as a kid? Probably a hobbit in college. It is the only costume that I put together myself vice just buying from a store.

Baby is the size of a(n): mango?

    Team blue/pink/green: pink

Upcoming Appointments: Nov 8 for anatomy scan and 10th for prenatal check

How are you feeling?: Ok, just dang cough hanging around for ever.

Rants/Raves: rave: Halloween at school went well. I dressed as a plant and my boss thought I was mother earth so I changed to that. Cause why wouldn't mother earth look like a pregnant plant? 🤣

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: Since it's Haloween, what was your favorite costume you had as a kid?
For those that don't celebrate haloween, your fave costume from any event (comic cons, plays, etc..)

I don't know about as a kid, but my husband and I were a rainbow (me) and leprechaun (him) one year and that was fun. I sewed strips of different colors on a red sweater and made a cloud tutu out of white and light blue tule.

Baby is the size of a(n): Trenta Starbucks cup

    Team blue/pink/green: it’s a girl!

Upcoming Appointments: just before Thanksgiving- another midwife check in

How are you feeling?: Great! Belly feels heavy in the evening so getting comfy at night can be a struggle. But I seem to be past the initial stretch of insomnia.

Rants/Raves: Rant: Work is super busy and my anxiety is climbing. Is it maternity leave yet!?! Rave: Husband and I are going to a comedy show this Saturday- so excited for a date night!

    Questions: NA

GTKY: Since it's Haloween, what was your favorite costume you had as a kid?
For those that don't celebrate haloween, your fave costume from any event (comic cons, plays, etc..)
Not my costume, but my sister has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. As kids, she dressed up as a farmer and my parents made it look like she was driving a tractor. A+
  • @Wishilivedinflorida go through Costco to buy a car!!! I saved $2000 and it was so simple when I just bought a car 2 weeks ago. You need a membership ($60-120 depending on level but that doesn't matter for the car) and Google Costco car buying. You'll need it narrowed down to some more specific types of cars, less browsing, but seriously so happy we used that perk.

    Glad your spotting stopped.❤️

  • @firecracker_mama I had no idea Costco offered that! Unfortunately we don’t have one here but I’ll still look into it.

Turns out my current lease has a ton of equity due to used prices going up so we are going to buy it out/flip it or see if the dealer will buy it from us. So the difference can at least be a cushy down payment. I think we are getting the Subaru Ascent (have a crosstrek now) as it is the cheapest option for the space you get. But basically all third row vehicles are disgustingly priced right now and some are hard to get. At least I ruled out what I don’t like and what is too pricy.
  • @Wishilivedinflorida - Are you opposed to a minivan? Or is that out of your price range? A minivan was the best thing for me going from 2 to 3 kids. I loved being able to get in and sit in the back if I needed to.
  • @marebear15 I just can’t do it and my husband is adamantly opposed to a van! But to be fair our winters are bad here and I really need AWD when the snow starts piling on so SUV is a more useful option for us.
  • @Wishilivedinflorida if you have a carmax near you I super recommend selling cars to them. I have only sold cars there. They give way more than dealerships and it’s a no haggle process so it’s low stress. My sister also tried carvana which is similar but it sounds like they may come to you instead of you going to them.
  • @Wishilivedinflorida If you can buy a membership online, you don't actually have to do anything at the store for the Costco auto program. It's all through the dealer but they only have agreements with certain dealers.

Upcoming Appointments: two weeks for a check up

How are you feeling?: mostly good though today I’m feeling a little yucky.

Rants/Raves: we had so much happening this week I’m very overwhelmed but at the end we will have new carpets

    Questions:

GTKY: Since it's Haloween, what was your favorite costume you had as a kid?
For those that don't celebrate haloween, your fave costume from any event (comic cons, plays, etc..) my favorite was a costume from a play but I’ve worn it for Halloween also. It was a velvet medieval gown my mom made. It was soft and super heavy with massive sleeves.

Baby is the size of a(n): Belgian Endive or a baby airplane?
    Team blue/pink/green: blue! 💙
Upcoming Appointments: Had my anatomy scan today! Next midwife appt is Nov. 16
How are you feeling?: Better. Actually able to eat a little bit more. So sore though. Back and hips from sciatica and RLP.
Rants/Raves: rant- my college BFF, who livesin Florida (I'm in Texas) has been waiting forever to get married and start a family. She finally found her dude and they are talking about marriage but aren't officially engaged yet. I am supposed to be her maid of honor and for whatever reason she is dead set on getting married this March. 😑 I'm either going to be too pregnant to go that far or legit just given birth and not supposed to travel (14.5hr drive and most airlines won't let babies under 2wks fly. I don't know what to tell her, but there's just no way.
    Questions: Na.
GTKY: Since it's Haloween, what was your favorite costume you had as a kid?
For those that don't celebrate haloween, your fave costume from any event (comic cons, plays, etc..) I know it's controversial now, but my first costume memory was an Indian. My mom made it from scratch and even handsewed a ton of beads on it. I loved it!
Wife. Boy mom x6. Expecting #7. Wannabe homesteader.

  • @nopegoat It sucks that your friend hasn’t even considered that you won’t be in a fit state in March. 😕 Hopefully she’ll come to that realization soon.

Baby is the size of a(n): Carrot!

    Team blue/pink/green: Pink

Upcoming Appointments: my anatomy scan was supposed to be tomorrow, but they rescheduled me to Saturday.

How are you feeling?: I woke up with a super sore throat, so I stayed home from work today. I’m hoping it’s nothing and will be gone in the morning.

Rants/Raves: My MIL gave me $400 to buy the crib that I want and I went to deposit it and the ATM somehow got jammed, and now I have to wait for the bank to do an investigation before I can get any money back. :/

On the plus side, I have found a new midwife!! I just signed the insurance paperwork today, so hopefully we’ll be good to go. Also, I broke down and bought a maternity pillow and it has honestly helped so much!! Far less hip pain to keep me up at night.

    Questions: N/A

GTKY: Since it's Haloween, what was your favorite costume you had as a kid?
For those that don't celebrate haloween, your fave costume from any event (comic cons, plays, etc..)

My mom made me a fairy costume when I was six and I loved it so much. She made a romantic tutu with pink and green pastel tulle and it was just so lovely. That was probably my favourite Halloween. Good memories.
  • Update: the midwife sent me an email saying they’ve decided not to move forward with me after all. This is the third time this has happened and about the 10th midwife I’ve spoken to (the others were fully booked or unavailable for other reasons). I give up.
  • @lightintothevoid what the heck?! Did they say why? That’s so frustrating; I’m sorry 😞
  • @lightintothevoid oh no, that's so frustrating
  • No. I’m thinking my original midwife has been spreading some really nasty falsehoods, or the new midwife feels uncomfortable because I stopped working with someone after a couple of visits. But, during my consultation I told her everything, so I don’t know why she would allow me to go so far into the sign on process and then suddenly change her mind a week later. I’m so bummed.
  • @lightintothevoid omg how frustrating and frankly rude of them to string you along. So sorry to hear that this is going on. Are these all private practice midwives - unaffiliated with hospital/birthing centers?
  • @disneybaby23 Yes, all private practice. I’m starting to give up on my home birth dream and just do the hospital route.
  • @lightintothevoid my sister in law had a similar situation several years ago and she ended up having luck with a birth center. Not quite home but cozier than a hospital birth. Still many months to go though so it might still work out just right.
  • @disneybaby23 I don’t know why I haven’t even thought of a birth center. I’ll look into some. Thank you!
