Ectopic pregnancy symptoms?

Hi all, I’m about 4.5 weeks, first time pregnancy. I’ve overall been feeling fine but I have been feeling some mild cramping and have been trying to stay off Google but can’t help but be worried about an ectopic pregnancy. The cramps are not constant; sometimes it feels like little pricks, other time like mild period cramps centered in my pelvis, other times I’ve felt slightly sharper pain localized to my right side. Sometimes I feel lower back pain similar to PMS & period pain (although I do have a bad back and feel low back pain fairly often). I’ve had no spotting or bleeding. It could very well be gas and bloating too that I’m feeling 🤷‍♀️. Is mild cramping normal at 4 weeks? Any words of advice would help settle my nerves tremendously as I’m not scheduled to go in for my first visit till Nov 1. Thank you!

Re: Ectopic pregnancy symptoms?

  • Mild cramping is normal. However, if there's anything that concerns you, call your doctor. They will ask you the right questions to figure out if you need to go in or can wait for November.

  • Thank you!!
  • The last pregnancy I had was ruled an ectopic when the HCG levels were high AND they couldn't find a sac and fetal pole. So you'd just need to wait for the 1st scan and see how it goes. I feel you though, this is just nerve wracking.
  • Hi! Also just about 4.5 weeks as well experiencing the same thing. My anxiety got the best of me and I went to the ER last night and....they couldn't really tell me anything. They said cramping can be normal, it's that it was a good thing I'm not spotting/bleeding. They did do an ultrasound, and like cait32 said, i do have a cyst in one of my ovaries but they couldn't see anything else since its so early. So I'll tell you what they told me - try to relax and just wait and see. Which if you're an anxious person like me that's not a great answer but I guess that's what we get for finding out so early 😅
