Bee stings while pregnant?

Hey all,
Have you experienced a sting during pregnancy?

I'm 28wks was stung by something 5 days ago on the ankle.  I washed it out after work and couldn't find a stinger at the site.  The pain was severe for two days so I iced it and kept off my feet as much as possible.  On day 3, it swelled up a bunch and it started itching - nothing has changed since then!  I'm still limping around and using an ice pack.

I haven't been stung since I was a kid and only remember ever having some moderate/mild pain lasting an hour tops.

Is this just a weird side effect of pregnancy?  Would love to hear your experience!

    I have not been stung by a flying insect yet (thank goodness I’ve never been stung so I don’t know if I have allergies to them) but I got bit by an ant and had a similar reaction (except on a much smaller scale) it definitely  hurt for longer and took longer to recover. I’ve heard that is common in pregnancy because of hormones

    Any skin break could lead to a cellulitis - an infection of the surrounding skin. If it's still swollen, you should go see your doctor.

    I had a stinger stay in my leg for about 10 years!! It was not until I started reading about serum sickness that I realized that I still was feeling the effects.  I read online to exfoliate the area (gently) until the stinger could come out.  I did so and found the stinger!  Since then all of my symptoms have been gone.
