Re: Have you packed your hospital bag?

  • Seriously? You're giving me anxiety thinking about this already! We haven't started a registry, we don't have a name, we don't even know what car seat we want yet... Hospital bag is way down my list of priorities at this point.

That said, I'm totally open to suggestions on what to pack, I know I'll need a list when I get there!

  • Haven’t thought about this yet, but we’re lucky to be about 5 min from the hospital.  I feel like we could show up with nothing and my husband could run back home as needed.  🤷‍♀️
  • I started packing thinking light but it quickly added up. So I stopped and put it off until I read this so I think I will wait until I'm 30 weeks and pack my final bag. I started out say this my second child the first time I packed to much so this time I was only packing one small bag but it turned into 3 bags so I'm thinking a small suitcase to fit everything in one thing and just have sections. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  • Anyone going to buy their own delivery gown so as to not use the hospital’s? The reviews on the options online are all over the place…
  • I haven't packed yet. I'll probably make a list because most things important to me to bring are electronic. When I had my daughter, my husband just ran home to get our stuff bc my water broke at my final OB appt. They always undressed my daughter when they did checks so we were skin to skin and they give you diapers there etc. So I'm only worried about losing power on electronics bc I don't wanna miss getting pics and videos. I'm more worried about what we will do with our 3y.o. when the time comes.
  • If you have a boppy, take it not just for nursing and holding support, the nurses had me sit on it during my wheelchair ride to the car and it relieved the pain. I'll definitely pack that this time. Toiletries, flip flops for shower, PJs for after delivery, clothes to wear home, outfit for baby, phone charger. I think that's about it.

I brought my own gown the first time and didn't use it. I wore the hospital gown for 2 days. It was easier, and I really wasn't thinking about how I looked. In my opinion, this is one of those items you really don't need, but I know others disagree.
  • Have a list, and the bag, but haven’t started packing it yet!
  • I started packing my bag mostly to get items out of the way. When I started I thought our hospital had us stay in the same room post-birth but now they have you move to a new room for recovery. Trying to decide if I want to reorganize it for before and after, or if I care at all. I bought my own labor gown. It seems cozier, especially in the winter. My other things are toiletries, flip flops, pj's for after, clothes to wear home, snacks, picture taking things, baby things. The birthing classes at my hospital suggested to bring led candles or soft lighting but that seems like a lot to bring?
  • I completely forgot the most important item I packed 1st time around. Microwave heating pad! I had horrible back labor and used this for hours.
  • I have a list and a few things in the bag that can be there but I feel like I’ll just be packing most of it the day of because I use a lot of the stuff still haha!

    In the bag already
chapstick, eye sleep mask, ear plugs, massage balls, extension cord, water bottle with straw, button up night gown, hot water bottle

Some things I plan to bring I can’t pack yet
favourite zip up hoodie (for easy boob access) & comfy pants
    Cell phone & charger
    All my toiletries
    Slippers & robe
    wireless speaker
    snacks
  • Is anyone planning on bringing their own labor and delivery gown to the hospital? And if you're not a FTM, did you and do you plan to again?
  • I will say that when I was in labor with my daughter, what I was wearing was the last thing I was thinking about.
