  • @iiirene I’m making soup too! So glad it’s finally getting a little chilly. Of course, in a month or so I’ll wish summer back.

  • Those of you that have at home dopplers, where did you purchase it? I'm thinking of making the purchase to hopefully ease my mind.

  • @MsBeachNJ - My better half just recently surprised me with one....apparently he was so excited after hearing little one's HB last week, he almost immediately hopped on Amazon and ordered one
  • Re: Dopplers, do you always find the HB easily? I’ve never used a home doppler before and I feel like having one would give me even more anxiety, in case I couldn’t find the HB. Does that ever happen? I feel like I should just wait for movement to be more consistent, but maybe it’s nice to have another option to check if things are okay in there!

  • I used a home doppler last pregnancy, bc covid pregnancy = husband couldn't come to any appointments. We borrowed it from a friend. We didn't get it until 2nd trimester, maybe even close to 20ish weeks?? @etnyah we def struggled at first to find the HB but once you get the hang of using it and understanding the diff sounds (ie your HB vs babys) it gets easier. We didn't use it THAT often. We likely won't use one this time bc husband can actually come to appointments this time
  • @etnyah I have never used one before. I am in a FB group of expecting mothers as well, and many have had luck finding the heartbeat fairly early. I am approaching 12 weeks so I think it should get easier to find the later on we get? I have been hesitant in the past to get one because of making myself crazy if I couldn't find the HB but at this point, I haven't seen the baby or heard a h/b in over a month so I'm pretty crazy anyway ;) Figured this would possible help ease that! I'll keep you posted!

@gingerbunny23 what a sweet surprise!! Amazon didn't really have any options on prime for me. I was able to find an FSA store and do next day shipping, so I should have it by Friday, fingers crossed!!

  • On the soup train here, beef and barly in the crockpot. If I never had to cook dinner again, it would be too soon.

I don't trust myself with any monitoring device, as I am too much of a worrier anyway. I can't wait until I can feel Baby Shark move and respond to me, so I can check on them that way.
  • Thanks for the info, @nsk489 and @MsBeachNJ! I think I’ll probably hold off for now. I’m not as anxious as I was in first tri, and I do feel the occasional movement already, so I think that’s enough for now! P sure a doppler would just make me more anxious.

  • @etnyah my OB can never even find the HB with the doppler, so I usually need to get an ultrasound for them to check on baby.  I would definitely give myself anxiety if I tried at home!  That's probably because I'm obese, though, I bet it's easier to find baby if there is less padding to get through.

We also did soup this week!  Tortellini, spinach, and chicken soup and vegan chili.
  • @etnyah since I gave anterior placenta, it’s been really hard to find HB with a Doppler. But it might work in your case. I’d look for one second hand so as not to waste too much money.

  • 11 weeks with twins— random pains in my left buttocks.. almost like a big cramp.   Anyone  else?
  • Just venting... ordered a doppler with "next day shipping" was supposed to arrive today... was really hoping to have that reassurance before the weekend (was hoping to tell some friends) well it hasn't even shipped yet. The seller refunded my shipping cost to make up for the trouble... so frustrating! I don't want the shipping costs ($3.99) I wanted the doppler today!

Also, pregnancy brain is in full swing. I swore that my next appointment (NT SCAN) was on the 11th, nope, its the 12th. I've been waiting FOREVER for this scan as I haven't had a real appointment/heard hb etc. in almost 6 weeks... and now its another day later than I thought. BOO.

  • @MsBeachNJ that's so frustrating! I hope you get some reassurance soon!
  • @MsBeachNJ oh no, that is definitely frustrating! Hope it arrives soon 🤞
  • My son fell asleep for 20 minutes in the car today in lieu of his normal 2+ hour nap. I can normally transfer him to his crib no problem , but today was not the day. Darn you car nap!!
  • @kjib sounds like sciatica pain. I had it with my first and I get it now if I haven't been active enough that day. Hydrating helps too!

I'm already get the lighter version of lightning crotch! I know it's just baby moving but if this is what it's like now... I'm scared for later.

  • I definitely need to drink more water. I appreciate all the tips! I never had this with my first— so new symptom for sure!
