Baby may have Stridor

I brought the baby for his 2 week checkup and discussed with the Dr. the noise he makes when he eats. Almost like he’s gasping for air. She told me he may have stridor and referred me to an ENT. She also said he may grow out of it before we even see the ENT. Has anyone else’s baby been born with this? Did you let the ENT do a scope? Or did they grow out of it?

Re: Baby may have Stridor

  • I have a 3 week old at home and she has a stridor. She actually has a very minor case of laryngomalasia. When she cries, on the inhale she has a squeak. We saw an ENT in her first week, they did a scope, and they said it will go away on its own. The worry is that the stridor will prevent baby from gaining weight because feeding will be difficult, so they just said to monitor her eating and weight gain. It has gotten significantly better just in our 3 weeks together. The scope was very easy. I was worried going in, but the ENT was fabulous. I held baby’s arms down and her head still and the scope went in quick and came out quick. She cried but was totally fine as soon as it was over.
